Time to give up, or time to make a push?

They have 6 losses, They will have to win out to get to 10 wins.

If that was your franchise, would you give up, not even try to get to 10 wins (which might win the division if not a wild card), or would you start working on next year.

I would never want to lose a game on purpose for the sake of draft position, but the fact is you have a better chance of being successful down the road by losing games now. I think you tell your guys to win every game possible and let the chips fall where they may. Then I think you go to the competition committee and tell them they need to change the system so that losing isn't encouraged and rewarded. The NBA has the right idea with non-playoff team draft positions, but I think the lottery should extend to the top 8 picks, not just the first 3. Something like that would be welcomed in the NFL as crappy teams won't go 0-16 to grab the best QB prospect.

Win out

Losing is for losers,

Losing begets losing and it's a hard culture to change.

About the only thing the NBA has right. :kitten:

Great answer, You are so right. As soon as the players believe losing is acceptable, then it's all about the money & winning is secondary. I believe that's what we had here before Kubiak.

I heard he played well guess not.

He failed miserably in the first 3 quarters, but played well enough to not lose the game in the 4th.

He was off most of the night. Their D went ape **** and he broke the Giant D late. Was a typical VY game. Head scratching throws, one good drive, then people blow him.

Trade one of the corners and draft well. They should be much better next year. Trying to put a bunch of new players together. They need to quit "dreaming" and wake up.

There's no quitting in football!

I wish the NFL had a lottery system for the top picks, just not sure if it would be Top 5 or Top 8. It needs to happen, though.

If you can get lucky and get the #1 or #2 pick out of a bunch of ping pong balls randomly dropping out with your team's name on it....then so be it. But to be able to tank your season, which is exploiting the fans who pay and endure the humiliation of the awful season, is wrong.

The NFL should try and enact a system to curb the potential for a team like the Colts (who had a freaking CAKE WALK for 10 years with #18 as their QB!) to tank a season and be right back in draft position to grab another potential QB.

And we know damn well that's what Colts fans are hoping for: That their team traps lightning in a bottle, again, and it would mean they only had to suffer one 0-16 season to get him. Bastards. I hope it backfires on them.

I think this was the Colts' plan all along: If #18 couldn't play, they knew they'd trot out Curtis Painter (who will be painting apartments in the near future, btw) and he alone would suck them to 0-16 and then the Colts get the #1 pick and draft Andrew Luck. Bastards.

Anybody who doesn't think the Colts would do this, well...they're not fans of one of the other 3 teams in the AFC South. The Colts are not all goodie-goodie Good Humor Ice Cream salesmen or anything. Bastards.

BASTARDS.

True ... however it's always like that with this guy. The Eagles D has been terrible for most of the season and then VY starts and they look like the 85 Bears and of course the VY "blowers" give him all of the credit.

The same type of thing kept happening with the Titans. Despite what he did at UT I have a hard time rooting for the guy because of all his a-hole fanboys. However so far he has been the common factor and his W-L record speaks for itself.

The guy comes into his own when the game is on the line, he's always done that. OT @ Reliant in his rookie season is all you need to see to know that.

Shame he hasn't put the effort in to become a more rounded QB as he has all the tools necessary to be a high end passer if he was willing to become one.

Always get the feeling in all of his comments that the guy is a bit of a window licker though, he just doesn't have the mental capacity to make the most of himself.

That said, he's already been in the NFL long enough that he'll die a rich man so fair play to him. Its lucky for us because from what I've seen of him, he could have gone on to be Tennessee's franchise QB for a decade or more and have made the Texans' life a lot harder during that time. But he ****ed it up.

Eagles are done.

the concept of teams tanking for the draft is idiotic at best. The players get paid off of one thing and one thing only...game film. Look bad on film, get a smaller contract. Even if teams tried to tank the players would never cooperate since their bank accounts, reputations and legacy are tied to their performance on game film. Why play poorly and have your team replace you when some elite prospect in your position drops to them in the draft?

I see fans talk about this every year and I think its a naive concept at best.

F@#$ them... I don't allow people like that to influence my opinion. Vince has the opportunity to become a great story. He came from ****, rode his talent to the highest of NCAAF highs & to a #1 pick in the NFL draft. A freak'n dream of thousands of underprivileged kids all over the country (world??).

Then he gets benched, attempted suicide(??), cut from the team, then picked up by the "dream team" & he get's his chance to prove that he didn't waste his opportunity, his "God-given" talent.

I personally do not root for Vince one way or the other (except when he'll play the Cowboys) but I'll give him credit where credit is due. I think a successful VY story would be better than a bust VY story for thousands (tens of thousands) of kids.

We might even see it on Lifetime

"You play to win the game."

You do everything in your power to win out and try to get some mojo in place for next season.

Tanking for a better draft spot is a crap shoot. I mean, look at the Rookies of the Year and their draft spots...

Suh -- #2
Cushing -- #15
Mayo -- #10
Willis -- #11
Demeco -- #33
Merriman -- #12
Vilma -- #12
Suggs -- #10
Peppers -- #2
Bell -- #39

When you look at the #1 overall picks, there are a lot of misses.

So screw draft choice and play to win the game.

EDIT: Ooops. Just realized I was looking at the Defensive Rookie of the Year list. :)

Call me slow, but I still haven't given up on Vince.

Why should you? If the guy can learn to grow up off of the field, stay away from sausage parties, and keep his mouth shut he will be money for someone.

I wouldn't mind having him right now.

If I had a choice would have chosen him instead McNabb for the Vikings.

I want Vince to do well, but he is on the wrong team. Look great, but don't win the game.

It could be worse, he could still be on the Titans. At least he gets a chance to beat the Cowboys now (if Vick isn't playing). However as a Giants fan I would rather see him somewhere else.

That's where the problem lies.

LOL, I really hope he plays against Dallas. I have many Cowboys/VY fan friends. Most all of them gave me a TON of grief during his Titans days. They would come to my house rooting for the Titans and getting on me for not rooting for the "UT guy". Now the shoe is on the other foot. Actually I was hoping the Redskins would have picked him up since most of them hate the Skins more and I don't dislike the Skins as much as the Eagles.

I still resent all the VY love from fans obsessed with All Things Longhorns because of how it convinced KEYE to show usually show Titans games instead of Texans games.

You can't overlook what VY did for the Longhorns in that Championship game. He deserved the love.

My Godson is a diehard 49er fan. Last year he scored a party pass for the Thanksgiving game and managed to evade security to find my section just to say hi all decked out in Saints gear. I have such a precious family.

How much will DeSean Jackson will command as a free agent after this season and what are the chances the Eagles franchise tagging him?

Desean Jackson is very likely to hit free agency this year. The Eagles have a ton of money tied up in young free agent contracts with Vick being re-signed, then Cole, Babin, Aso, etc... I don't think they will pay him over Lesean McCoy. If anyone on that team is getting franchised it's McCoy.
