Analysis

Positives: Tall with good build and length inside. ... Fair straight-ahead speed when closing on the ball. ... Stands up his man and falls off to wrap up backs coming through the hole. ... Anchors well to hold up double-team blocks. ... Gets great push to collapse the pocket in passing situations, keeps his arms extended and legs churning. ... Threat to impact passing lanes and block field goals using his push, height and length. ... Big in the weight room.

Negatives: One-year starter. ... A bit soft in the middle. ... Offensive linemen use his height to their advantage, cutting him down like a tree although he is adequate recovering. ... Slow off the snap and takes time to get his body going forward. ... Plays with his head down at times, minimizing his awareness. ... Needs a stronger punch. ... Inconsistent in his push and hustle. ... Does not change direction quickly, will get ridden out of plays too easily. ... Inconsistent shedding blocks inside even if much bigger than his opponent. ... Stamina and work ethic are issues. ... Missed first half of the 2006 season with a torn triceps muscle.

I got tired reading through just half the "negatives." And this was the best profile he's had..........I suspect it was written by his mother.:spin:

In Ra'Shon "Sunny" Harris' two years in the league he was cut by the Steelers, saw time on the Panthers roster, (for a few games in 2009,) was waived and put back on their practice squad, picked up again by the Steelers when Aaron Smith went on IR, and was cut at the end of the 2010 preseason. The Bills picked him up and put him on their practice squad, and now he is another free agent.

Round 6-Ra'shon "Sonny" Harris, DL, Oregon

The Good: Athletic for his size, at 6'4" 298, having decent speed, and good build. Harris gets a good jump off the snap and is good at collapsing the pocket, and can match up well with double teams. Sonny has good versatility and could play either DE or DT in our 3-4 scheme.

The Bad: According to NFL.com, Harris needs to have a better work ethic. He's inconsistent off the snap and doesn't play with good leverage, and can be maintained in blocking, and is not very shifty in changing direction. He only started one year at Oregon.

Bottom Line: I could see Harris as being a Brett Kiesel type of player, being a late draft pick that could fit our 3-4 well, but he will need to be brought up through the practice squad system, and in my mind I'm not really liking his chances. If what is said about his work ethic is true, then I'm not seeing him on the 53 man roster come September, but if he surprises me he could be a good fit in the 3-4 defense and make a solid contribution to the defense.

Texans really like 09 draft

Does this move mean theres a injury on DL now or maybe some one has a injury that could get worse?

I was wondering that meself...

If the dudes got some talent then maybe Antonio , Jamison and JJ's motor will rub off .

If any of this is true...

...maybe he'll occupy two blockers and help Antonio and J.J. get free quicker.

Remember... Wade's "buying the groceries" for his defense. He must have seen something in the kid.

Cody's back, Mitchell's ankle and A. Smith's shoulder were maximally limited each of them in week 10's practice.

The only reason why I know who Thad Gibson is, is because I found him on our Madden depth chart. He's got the fastest speed, agility, and acceleration out of all our linebackers. He's also got the 2nd best tackling and hit rating power out of the LBs, only behind Cushing.

The kicker is that his awareness is rock bottom low, but if you control him, deadly.

I watched part of the game when he was with the Panthers in 09 (one of two games he ever played) against, guess who... Wade's Cowboys!

He wore #77 and looked BIGGER than 300 lbs.

Fell asleep during the first half.
He was in the rotatiion, with limited action (I saw him for maybe 5 snaps).
Nothing bad, nothing good.

I'll get back to it when I can.
Wonder what Wade saw in him that he likes.

The Steelers seem to like him enough to resign him twice to their PS after drafting him.
