Texans Draft

It is obvious to me that the Texans need O line help like NOBODYS business. Problem is we need cohesion on the line and just sticking in one person isnt gonna cut it. Thus I propose we draft the ENTIRE UT Offensive Line. They have been playing together for 2 or 3 years, so there is cohesion. What do yall think?!

How many times have you proposed this on this board? Either that or there are 3 or 4 other people that have posted the same thing. First of all, I don't follow the Longhorns that closely, is their entire offensive line seniors?

Sorry. I suppose i have proposed this once or so before. I am thinking since UT has the best line in college, we could certainly use their help.

They are definitely better than our line that is for sure. But I think two will be selected in the first round. ( I know the LT for sure, and maybe the RT).

LT Jonathan Scott and LG Will Allen are the only two seniors on Texas' OL.

Scott will be a 1st/2nd rounder. Allen probably a 4th/6th.

C Lyle Sendlein, RG Kasey Studdard and RT Justin Blalock will follow them in the '07 Draft.

Sendlein is looking at the 5th/7th round as the value of C's isn't that high anymore. Studdard will be about the same as Allen. Blalock projects as a G in the NFL. He would've been playing RG at Texas but they couldn't find anybody anybody else to step up at RT to Blalock stepped in. So his value might drop a little becuase of that.

It's not unthinkable that the Texans could be in a position to draft all 5. It's just not probable.

Besides, as a group, they're much better at run blocking than pass blocking.

i wonder if e can trade back in the first round and get an extra first and extra second. Then we can Use pick 1 on Scott, pick 2 on RT. Then with our 2 2nds, we can package to move back into the first and grab AJ HAwk, or stay in the second and pick more UT line.

Other teams lose major pieces of their offensive line and they put something together that works pretty quick. I'm just saying that this four year o-line problem is an organizational thing and not a case of not having the players or giving them enough time to "gel".

I was (foolishly) a major proponent of the o-line being given whatever time it needs to get comfortable but apparently that's only an issue when it suits the Texans excuse of the moment. Letting Wand continue to build on his first year as a starting LT went out the window and Victor Riley was plugged into his spot in an instant. No "gel" time necessary I guess.

This is the coaching folks, not the players. It took me a while to figure out what I was looking at since I hadn't seen it for almost a decade but this is (in a general sense) what the Oilers looked like under Pardee at the very end. This team has quit on this coaching staff and one of the first units to throw in the towel is the o-line. I think Carr has quit too.

well.......this is how it feels.......its come to this, this progression back into expansion purgatory :brickwall

you mean expansion hell? perinial 8-8 would be puragtory.

I think an oline can still be patched together.. we just need a solit LT. Pitts might be a possibility.

Oh... and we need a whole new coaching staff. Well..not completely new.. id come alot of our guys.. just not our Defensive Coordinator, Offensive Coordinator, Head Coach, QB Coach, Oline Coach, LB Coach, or WR coach.

Pitts is as bad as all the others. He whiffed bad on a play and his man sped right by for a sack.

I'm not sure which is worse a sack or a penalty which either kills a drive or costs the team a touchdown :brickwall

This is going to take more time to fix than expected thats for sure. Is Casserly capable of rebuilding this team? he has had four years and they look just as lost, confused and undermanned as the expansion year. Cappers should have stayed with Seth Wand @ LT and drafted Jamaal Brown to play RT because both tackles we have now suck & are getting beat too often :embarrass

I think our talent is below average, but I also think a new coach could get a lot more out of the guys we have. The biggest question I have, is who do we take with a top 3 pick in the draft?

201 days left to decide

I'm not so sure now with DeBrickashaw being hurt and Winston looking like he has lost some agility due to his acl injury that a OT Marcus McNeil is not a slam dunk, if assuming the Texans have a top 3 pick.

However that being said we need some fear factor added to this team on both sides of the ball. This is just some ideas as to what the Texans need to do, starting with a playmaker and in general rebuilding the offensive line plus other much needed depth-

1st rd. Reggie Bush, RB USC (if he declares?)

2nd rd. Andrew Whitworth, LT LSU

3rd rd. Donovan Raiola, C WIS

3rd rd. (aquired from N.O.) Charles Davis, TE Purdue

4th rd. Rob Sims, G Ohio St.

5th rd. Darrell Hunter, CB Miami (OH)

6th rd. Mark Levoir, OT ND

7th rd. Josh Betts, QB Miami (OH)

I like Scott for LT because that is who I watch, but I am interested in knowing about the other prospects. It seems to me that the Texans need a LT and a C.

If the Texans could take Bush, that would be awesome. I've always felt, and still contend, that Davis is not the answer the Texans need, especially if they want to, as Capers puts it, have the running game direct the passing game. However, the Texans first and foremost problem is the line. Fix the line, and a lot of other aspects of the Texans' game will fall in line.

From what i am hearing from early mocks is that Whitworth might go as high as the end of the 1st round. Obcourse he could fall esp where the potentiality of where the Texans might be picking. Its a little hard for me to believe that we will go RB in 1st round with what was it 4 year deal we gave DD. If we pick in the top we should go OL. Unless some major injury occurs. I like to see the T from Virginia in a Texan uniform, Scott i would even like to see him. Maybe even a trade down to get 2 1st round picks. OT and maybe a TE. WHy not its nice to dream

This brings up my next question. What if the Texans trade that #1 pick and get a good veteran LT and a couple of picks or something like that? I mean there really isn't any LTs worth the #1 right now and I don't want a Tony Mandarich on our hands.

What if we trade that #1 pick for a Tony Gonzalez from the Chiefs plus some picks?

Is it me or does it feel like if we get the #1 pick we're going to do something really really boneheaded with it?

must be just you :) c'mon eveyone knows that Casserly is the :bomb: and he is always one step ahead of his competition, how else do you think he got this gig :fib

Im not to worried about what casserly would do with the first round. Its all the other rounds im worried about.

After passing on D. Johnson for T. Johnson even though you said u wouldn't take DJ b/c he played in the 4-3 and well then so did TJ........I'm just worried about CC PERIOD.

1-7. :goodnight
