Working?
Ok what we have here in houston now is a class A disaster. We have played four games now and have simply continued to embarass ourselves. Realistically, what can we do? Rebuild? Trade? Give up?

Coaching staff changes: Do we change now? If we wait until the end of the year, we will be able to sign a much better coach. if we change now, we'll have to settle. I say we hire Capers, Pendry, Fangio, and Casserly and hire temporary replacements---but this isn't madden.

Personel: We don't have enough players who are qualified to be NFL players to make many personel changes, so what can we do? None of our T's or G's are good enough to allow shuffling.

Basically, we're screwed. If we win 3 games this season it will be a miracle.

Football is supposed to be fun. Watching the Texans embarass themselves for 3 hours is not fun.

That says it all. :embarrass

Bench players who aren't performing. I don't care if their backups aren't any good - what are we going to do, lose? Maybe we'll find some good players that our crack coaching staff haven't identified yet.

Accountability.

I didn't see this game yet but I did record it on dvr so I will watch it tomorrow. I watched the Astros marathon victory. I think the next move should be to fire Fangio and promote Hoke. This puts even more heat on Capers and gives us an opportunity to see what we have in Hoke. It can't be any worse.

Personally I think we fired the wrong guy two weeks ago but I doubt seriously there's any "going back" now.

Capers should have been shown the door two weeks ago and Palmer should have been promoted with the "interim" tag on his job pending the rest of the season. It should have been made clear to him that the remaining games were an "audition" but nothing was guaranteed.

Now? Hell I don't know. There's really nothing you can do short of firing Capers and promoting Fangio or Pendry. Basically we have no options right now. This staff will stay in place for the rest of this long, painful year.

What's worse, having to settle or keeping Capers and a football team that won't put out for him? Capers has lost this team and he needs to gooooooooo!

After the team stinks up espn next week I would not be suprised to see Fangio and Capers both gone and Hoke installed as interim HC.

I don't know who is out there to come coach this team, I just hope it is a young promising coach. I don't see any retread HC's out there that I have confidence in.

I am just glad my Irish grabbed Weis when they did.

1st up, bench David Carr. Wait, wait and listen... for his own safety. If we continue to leave him there to be hammered the way he is, he will be of no use to any team let alone the Texans. Play Ragone or Banks and let Carr get over this whole shell-shock he is in atm. If we do that then possibly he starts next season fresher and hungrier...

Use the rest of the season as a test (as staeted above) for the guys who actually DO want to be here next season and beyond. How you determine that with this atm is a good Q but hey, it's better than nothing right, at least they would have something to aim for...

Get some guys in the Front Office who know what they are doing please!!! Use the good picks we should get from going as badly as we are going to this season to do something, one thing, ANYTHING about that dreadful O-Line. No use having WR's, QB's, RB's and TE's if they have no one to help them move the ball downfield through protection. Draft with a bit of a plan to help and not hinder this franchise before we become the next 49ers (actually we are worse than them as they have at least W in that column)...

Apart from that there isn't a lot more we can do as fans but hope and pray for more than one miracle to salvage what is left of this season (if you want to call it that). Start the whole rebuilding process again, stop treating this team as an expansion team and give the fans something to go to the game for (rather than being more interested in other home teams like the Astros)...

Our coaches don't even use training camp to pick and keep the best players. Why would they change now?

Do yourself a favor and don't watch the game. You will have a more productive game watching your grass growing and water boil. Trust me.

I know Mr. McNair was on the news but I had the sound muted and didn't get to hear what he was saying.

They're almost in a no-win situation with coaching. If you fire Coach Capers now they'd probably just promote somebody on the staff and start over next off-season and see who's available. For that reason I don't think they'll fire him.

I don't know what their O line options are.....who is on the bench? who can be moved? Picked up off a practice squad?

Benching David seems to me to be something they wouldn't want to do....but perhaps they might think real seriously IF the year continues it's slide downward of not renewing his multi-million dollar option and going in a new direction.

He might want a change of scenery elsewhere. I know last year he said he was really tired of losing and he said something very true....when you lose game after game you breed that thinking. You almost begin to think you can't win. It's a mental struggle. Perhaps that's what has happened. He has no confidence at all. I didn't see much change in David's game really although he had a few nice passes.

Don't know. This team is hard to label. They showed some real spark last year at times and hung tough against some top competition. For some reason they aren't even getting close to that this year.

I say we fire the staff to send a message. This sets up for next year. You get the players who want to be here to show us they want to be here. We are not going to get this from a Capers coached team. We do not have to keep the coaches we hire unless they do an outstanding job.

Isnt that what firing Palmer and benching P-buch was about?
Right now i think we must put Wand back in or move Pitts to LT. It seems we have had some more success running the ball recently, so keep using dd and thorw more screens, run draws. we cant fire the whole staff, but i think fangio must run the worst version of the zone in the nfl. let peek blitz, let drob cover the other teams #1 in man, throw downfield more often, gafney and armstrong have had success on post routes.

There really is not much we can do in terms of personel, yet we can change our phillosophy. there is no way they cant tell the zone d is not working, they must see how predictable our o is and how badly we need o-line help...

the sad part is that there are so many areas we need help: o-line (at least 3 people), TE (lets hope for joppru), d-line( robbaire looking great, nothing much afterwards), wr (mathis does not look as fast as advertised, but was open deep, too early to tell, but we need an established number 2 or get the ball to gafney and bradford more), linebackers (dont know why we put peak in because we never let him go, we have taken all the aggressivenss out of him).

All in all, we have done a crappy job through all these areas of the field, and if we dont protect carr, by the end of the season we will have to add qb to that list. :brickwall

how many fans would stand for that? would you buy a $200 ticket to see that?

Personally no I wouldn't but then if people don't turn up and support this 'circus', 'team', 'franchise', 'disaster' (I could go on), surely the Front Office will see that something has to be done. I'm trying to be realistic and helpful despite how it may come across. But after 4 losses and now being the sole cellar dwellers of 32 teams, what else can people expect. I want David Carr to succeed. I want Andre Johnson to succeed. I want Jason Babin to succeed. WE as Houston fans want... no wait make that 'need' these guys and the others to succeed before we don't have a team left to want, need or expect anything from...
