Surprising Road Win

*Over 500 yards total offense and two running backs with over 100 yards!

*Defense shut them down and hardly let them breathe.

*The team and coaching staff never let the momentum change when it could have after Hasselbeck's 4th down TD pass and the offense subsequent failed 4th down conversion attempt on the following drive.

*An excellent all-around victory for this Texan team.

ps: Drop Dead Bud, you piece of garbage.

It's only surprising to you people who are stuck in the past.

This team has exhibited time and time again that they are different than previous versions. Some folks are just too stubborn to realize it.

Time and Time again? Was it the wins over the winless Dolphins and Colts, or when we squeaked by the banged up Steelers after shooting ourselves in the foot all game?

I don't think anyone who thought we might lose today should be labeled crazy

Look at you making excuses for winning, pathetic.

What is it today, the Titans were coming off their bye week so they were over-rested?

Pshh.

Everything from personnel moves to play on the field (e.g. win over Pitt, general play of defense, etc.)

Of course, you'd discount a win over "banged-up Pitt," despite its lack of relevance, who's a 4-2 team.

This is a really good team. We have lost to a handful of other really good teams (mostly on the road). You guys will come around slowly.

A road win against a divisional opponent is more like 1.5 wins because of tiebreakers, in some sense.

Glad to see a Kubiak team finally keep the boot on the throat for a full 60 minutes.

Every "big" win ,we get treated with a disappointing loss.

So I handle them with caution.

And beer

Not making excuses. I was just wondering where the "time and time again" statement was coming from.

All wins aren't pretty but this is the NFL; I'll take them all.

I don't feel like this was so much Kubiak 'keeping his foot on the pedal' as it was the team just executing his play calls. We ran the ball down their throats the whole second half. He calls runs and we get stuffed, he's playing conservative, he calls runs and we move the ball and score, he seems like he's being aggressive. We just executed today.

It must have been those games against the Saints, Raiders, and Ravens where we were leading in the third and fourth quarters and they held onto the leads and won the games. :kitten:

It sure is kind of quiet around here, as opposed to after a loss there would be 50 threads created on the same subject by now, lol.

It feels good too! :smiliedance:

Then this is great opportunity to talk football and not complain about other fans. Isn't that one of the big complaints after a loss?

Yeah it is.

So.

I wonder what changed for Schaub during the game. He was very inaccurate the first quarter but then got it going. If he's figured out the cause of his recent inaccuracy, that would be a big boost for the team going forward.

No, I didn't. That was disappointing. But, I did say I expected to go 4-2 or 3-3 in the first 6 games and only lose 1 or 2 more for the rest of the season.

well i'm hoping for a three game winning streak, jax will be tough but a win at tampa after that will get my jiuces boiling

I. Had a feeling we would win this ome tbo

Just like i said we will went the next two games has well

@ tampa. Idk yet but i think we can win that one 2

All of a sudden, the Titans are a less talented team...

All of a sudden.

:koolaid:

No, seriously "they are a less talented team". They have one claim-to-fame impressive win this season over a Baltimore team that was emotionally spent after destroying the Steelers. Their other two wins were against teams that are maybe even worse than the ones we beat.

They just had a little momentum early in the year and everyone got to thinking the Titans were actually going to be worth a damn this year. We've all seen enough mirages here in Houston to know better than to fall for that though.

One thing was that the Titans were suckers for the play action and the bootleg. Foster and Tate were gashing the Tacks so badly that they had to slow down the pass rush out of respect for the run.

By the past do you mean, our record for the past 11 road games? Or our record against winning teams? This game is like the other COUPLE of wins in the above categories, FOOLS GOLD! Until we actually get to the playoffs and beat a good team they haven't shown they are any different than the year before or before that or before that.

All this win proves is that we have talent and if that talent had proper guidance we could be really good.

I heard the announcer say at the end of the game that this was Houston's first win on the road. Simply not true. Houston is 2-2 on the road this year beating Tennessee & Miami, losing to two of the elite teams in Baltimore & New Orleans. Losing to two teams that are hard to beat regardless of where you play them on the road is nothing to be ashamed of.

Lol, I cannot believe I just read that... okay, maybe I can... that is absolutely ridiculous...

I know the Titans aren't the best team in the world or anything, so I won't go saying this win states anything about the Texans blah blah blah, but could you enjoy this win any less? I mean, making excuses for one of the top teams in the league getting their asses kicked by a mediocre team?

Just wait a while, knowing the Texans you might get a good chance to hate on them with actual good reasoning in the weeks to come... this is not that week, and that was not good reasoning..

titans lost the the jags the week before ......:pop:

not hating on what the Texans did today... the Texans did what I expect them to do week in and week out (to an extent and not a blow out but dictate to the other team what they are going to do)

Ok look, I've been saying the Titans win over Baltimore was a fluke since the day it happened so that's consistent with what I've always said. Baltimore came out in the season opener and emptied both barrels at the Steelers. The next week they came out flat against an opponent they obviously didn't think required their full attention. It happens to teams all around the NFL every year. That's why they call them "trap games".

Also it would be hard to enjoy the win any more than I am right now. I've had a **** eating grin on my face since halftime and it's in no danger of going anywhere anytime soon.

I think you need another drink cookie.

You can be consistant in what you say, but that doesn't mean I'll agree with it lol... but yes, another drink sounds good... cheers...

This team has been up and down all season. Still, this was an outstanding performance in a huge divisional game. Historically, the Texans have failed in these type of situations. This was different. Very different. I don't know if surprising is the correct adjective to describe the Texans victory today in Nashville.

I'd have gone with "satisfying".

Say it again, it was in Nashville :hurrah:

Do this nine more times and I'll be willing to discuss putting an end to my Bill Cowher nut-hugging for at least a year.

Lose next week for no apparent reason and all bets are off though.

Which very well could happen. I don't know why fans are so upset at others for not being convinced, even after the blowout victory. They need to put a string of wins together. And for the love of God, beat a winning team at their place.

I'll hold my words until the end of next week...

41-7, with a pick-6 by Brice Mccain, I never would've expected this.

Good game. 4-3. Keep it up.

Agreed. Nothing else to say for now except to give credit where credit's due. Hope they keep this going.

We may not have that opportunity for a while.

This schedule we've got coming up is just what this team needs, they need to get in the habit of winning. This kinda schedule is how you build confidence.

Hopefully we don't see a winning team on the road until mid-January.

It's somewhat disappointing coming here after a big win like this because I have to wait a few more days before the place gets spamed with the irrelevant stat of the week:

"The Kubiak Era Texans are 1-20 when facing teams who wear some variation of green after beating a team the previous week who wore some variation of blue."

Wait a minute!
Just time-damn-OUT!!

I thought your "A-List" teams don't have "let downs".
They have "leaders" on their teams that demand the best EVERY WEEK!
They have top flight coaches that prepare superb game plans and have their players fired up for EVERY opponent.
Y'all told us that "A-List" teams beat the teams they're supposed to beat - Even on the ROAD - EVERY TIME...

What happened to all that chatter? You mean, in real life, it DOESN'T work like that? You mean things like that only apply to the Texans??
:shades:

But u know what this is how we a supposed to beat the bad teams a 40 burger so im happy. Bring on jaxs. Baby.

Come on now, you know how "more often than not" applies here.
