desensitized?

Has this fan base been desensitized to losing?

Make (someone) less likely to feel shock or distress at scenes of cruelty, violence, or suffering by overexposure to such images.

I can't believe some of the crap excuses I have been reading on here lately. It's amazing that it's going to take yet another lost season before this fan base bands together and starts demanding change. I just don't get it.

Are you joking? every monday after a loss there is 10,000 threads gripn about loss

And there are 50,000 more that make excuses why we shouldn't worry. Until there is a public outcry and people stop going to the games this will continue. If you like sucking then sit back and enjoy the ride and leave us people alone that want/expect more for our money/loyalty. Actually it's not Kubiak, McNair or even the team that is the problem. It's the people that have excepted this joke of a franchise and continue to support it without question.

Until folks quit buying tickets and showing up for games, Uncle Bob thinks everything is just hunky dorie.

Yep.

The Saints shamed their owner by wearing paper bags over their faces, and ownership finally made some appropriate upper-level moves to address the team's woes. One of the Saints fans, Guido, was on here during the week of our Saints game this season...told us all about it. Interesting story.

Bob is swayed by appearances. He wants to give off GOOD appearances. So when the stadium is still full, and if fans are relatively happy enough that they are not incessantly boo'ing the team or coaches off the field, he is going to think that "the appearance" seems to indicate all is well in Texansville.

It is hard to think that fans should have to resort to what I think we all agree is borderline "bad form" by boo'ing your guys out there. Or not even going to games anymore. Etc., etc. What do you do if you're a fan of a team and you know that the leadership (the head coach) has created a perpetual sense of doom every season...regardless of having fielded a pretty decent team?

Every week that goes by, we get closer to seeing the playoff landscape for the whole NFL. Teams weed themselves out, some cling to life support, and others gallop off into a comfortable lead in their divisions.

This team, IMO, is somewhere between weeding themselves out and clinging to life support. Each week we learn more about the 2011 Texans, and each week you get the sense that we know the outcome before it occurs.

Desensitized?

No.

Hyper-reactionary to the point that they **** all over themselves and everyone in close proximity every time that the Texans "loose" a game?

Definitely.

It's more like an abused wife. Every time the Texans raise their arm (expectations) we cower cringe and hope they don't hit us again.

Let Bob feel it in his pocket, he is a businessman he will get the point. We should've moved on from Kubiak years ago, Average is ok in Kubiak's book.

A) part of the fan base

See thats the problem. Only part of the fan base has figured out that this team has reached it's ceiling with Kubiak. The rest keep hoping and dreaming that Mr. nice guy is somehow going to magically figure out how to take this team and lead it to the promise land.

It's really sad that its going to take another whole year of 500 to make some of you finally join us. 6 years and NOTHING has changed, NOTHING. Here we are more than a third of the way through this season and here we are back at 500. Still you keep looking past the big picture and trying to figure out what is broken when the answer is right in front of you.

Meanwhile other teams that have been far worse than us make changes and are turning the corner in no time flat. The saddest part of it all is that Andre Johnson is starting the downhill side of his career and will probably have to end it as a looser. He deserves better. We deserve better.

You guys that keep insisting that things will get better remind me of a woman that keeps getting slapped around by a man but won't leave because she still believes he loves her.

McNair on conference call with other owners.

McNair: You know what you say to a fan base with two black eyes?
Other Owners: What?
McNair: Nothing, you done told them bitches twice.
McNair and other Owners: HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA
McNair: Stupid ****ers just keep coming back for more. HAHHAHAHAHAHHA.....POW!!!!!!!!!!! RIGHT IN THE KISSER!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHHAHAHAH:gun:

As a true Texans fan, I guess I am just not ready to start rooting for the opposing teams to beat the Texans yet. Go figure.

Stupid!! Just because some of us have had enough of this .500 crap doesn't mean we aren't "true Texan fans" or are rooting for the opposing teams to beat the Texans. If I wasn't a true Texans fan would I have been on this MB religiously for the past however many years?

But hey make **** up if it makes you feel like a true fan. Keep pretending that your point of view is only that of true fans. Pretending is what you all do best.

Mussop, you just don't get that some fans do not see the situation as you do. SOme are ok with watching Texans no matter how they play. I get creamed when I insist I want good play even if it is in a losing effort than crappy play in a win. It is difficult for me to understand how people only focus on a W but some do.

Like it or not, Kubiak and Schaub will finish their contracts in 2012. Didn't the SPorts Association (no longer exists I believe) guarantee McNair so many years of sold out stadium? For every fan who gives up his seat another will buy it. I am as frustrated as you but to no avail.

huh? You would rather have the team play well and lose than to win ugly? You do realize that there is no Lombardi trophy for playing well and losing.

Not desensitized, just accustomed to the mediocrity. I don't like it one damn bit, but that's the Texans. Irrelevant since inception.

Apathetic is my state at this moment. My Sunday passion for the Texans is gone until real change is made. I have found that catching no fish on Sunday is better than traveling to Houston and back after another "Texans first down" and loss.

Similar to Mr. McNair, I now view my Texans' Sunday experience as an investment - sell the tickets or give them to clients. If we can just squeak out some wins and Colt McCoy can stay healthy I will be pumped.

I truly feel that we are close, but we are leaving wins on the field due to the head coach.

I have to say I never thought i would lose passion for watching the game on Sundays but I just don't have it anymore. I have recorded the last two games and watched them later. Well actually I haven't finished watching the Baltimore game, just don't feel like it. I've started it 3 times and just loose interest after a few minutes.

This really sucks! I have been a Houston football fan since before Luv ya blue. I guess I have just had my fill of half assness. Until there is real change made I don't know if will be able to enjoy another game. But I'll watch them eventually because my heart is tied into it to much. I just do it with numbness now instead of passion.

it's hard to watch Schaub crumble when a pass rucher is 4 feet away and being block. He has less nuts than my dog, Annabelle.

It's déjà vu all over again .

I DVR'd the Ravens game, because I had some outdoor fun with guns and 4-wheelers Sunday...got home and had no desire to watch it. I just checked the message board and scanned thread titles--You can tell, instantly, by looking at thread titles on Sunday afternoon if we did good or did poorly.

Deleted the Ravens game without even watching it. No need to.

I'm an ass hair away from just DVR'ing all Texans games, even if I am home, and picking a competitive game to watch on SundayTicket. I can watch the score ticker at the bottom of my TV and see if the Texans are doing well or not, no need in investing three hours of watching them blow it somehow at the end...why do that to myself? I have a hunch that this season ends poorly and Kubiak is fired and we're the laughing stock of the NFL--"Ha-ha! You guys couldn't win the South when Manning was out of the league with a neck injury! Puh-cees! LOL! Losers!" That's what my magic 8-ball tells me, at least.

Bandwagoning is an abomination, but for the first time in 10 years it's flirting with me. It's the sirens down by the river asking me to come down and rest my weary bones on the alabaster stone. :ohbrotherwhereartthou?:

I was at a Cowgirls fans birthday party. So I missed most of the game. (Thank God)

Watching the Cowgirls and Pats play a competitive game and the Cowgirls blowing the game was quite enjoyable.

When I got home I checked the MB and it looked like the SOS all over again.

Don't let them turn you into a frog .

With southwest cheapfares I'm thinking about watching a pro ( no texans ) or college game up north .

Even if the Texans win this coming Sunday, I'm not sure what conclusion we can draw from it. Right now the Texans are being the same old Kubiak led Texans we have come to love and hate and argue endlessly about on this board.

However, if the Texans manage to lose (which is certainly possible) to the Titans this Sunday, it will be interesting to hear what our loser head coach has to say. If it's the same old crap, at some point in time even Happy Uncle Bob has to see through the bullshit.

Wow. I really am speechless after reading this.

Have you sent your resume to "Uncle Bob" yet? I'm sure he could use your expertice in his front office. This is the NFL and the chances of "showing" him your distain by not showing up is rediculous. Houston is so big that the seats will sell out by displaced fans of other teams.

This was a free country. If you don't want to support the Texans you don't have to. You don't have to come to the message boards. It is an option.

Has this fan base been desensitized to losing?....

Depends on where they're at in the "experience". Such as my wife as started watching the games more, and she's screaming at the these "losses from the jaws of victory" games. Me, I've seen it enough that I just chuckle and shake my head. She looks at me, asking if I'm pissed about it - (unfortunately) not really.

Similar to above, I've been doing other things on the occasional Sunday that I DVR the game. I'll only watch it based on outcome / scanning the boards. Well, I have watched a few in 30 minutes or so, just to see certain plays I heard about.

"Where will you be"
"Be early, be loud"

Marketing with a football division, right?
