Lions | C. Rogers Suspension Update
Mon, 3 Oct 2005 14:58:21 -0700
Updating ongoing reports, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Detroit Lions WR Charles Rogers has been notified by the league that he is being suspended four games for violation of the league's substance abuse policy. Unless Rogers appeals the suspension, it is expected to be announced as early as Tuesday, Oct. 4. Under the policy, Rogers' suspension means that he has had at least three positive tests of an illegal street drug; a fourth positive violation would result in a minimum one-year suspension from the league. ESPN had previously reported Rogers was flagged by the NFL's medical advisor when he provided a diluted urine sample at the NFL Combine before the 2003 NFL Draft. That result placed Rogers in the substance abuse program, which opened him to random testing from the league.
