Last year against the Vikings and the Titans (1st game), Carr looked like an all-pro. He completed passes to virtually everybody and the Texans moved the ball and scored at will--never again after those games did the offense perform as well. Why so good against the Vikes/Titans and so bad/mediocre against everyone else?

The only thing that has changed has been the offensive system with all of the three step drops. We tinkered with a system rather than with the components.

Great question!
We were very competetive with GB and was in the game until the 4th qtr against Indy too. Why the down hill slide??????????

If you want to draw a more definitive line, Carr had 200+ passing games in each of the 1st 9 games last season with 4 being over 250 and one just 5 yards shy. In the 10 games since, he has had one game over 200 yds.

Things that make you go hmmmm?

People think that the Browns was the breaking point of the Texans.

I believe it was the Broncos game in mid 04', where as Porky stated, we were exposed to the "Cover 2".

See the document How to stop the Texans. Peruse Section A called "Cover 2"

The coaching staff needs to write an addendum titled "How We Failed to Scheme or Adjust Against the Cover 2".

Oh we have an ANSWER to the cover 2....just so happens he's been HURT the past 3 years....JOPPRU.

Let's face it unless you have someone who can push the middle of the field we are never going to get past the problem we have now.

The only alternative is J. Mathis who can push past a cover 2 with his speed but that's not something u can do alot. Its a lot easier with a TE or Slot WR.

That's what I don't get. Why can't we beat the Cover 2 with Mathis as a slot receiver? He could certainly get into the middle and then burn it up field faster than any TE.

It seems Armstrong would be a good possession receiver in the middle of the field. They should scheme a way to get him some looks in the 8-10 yard range. We need to take advantage of those great hands.

And we know this how? A guy that cant get on the field is not the answer. Unless the question is, who is our most injuried player with the most potential?
