The biggest differenst between past Texan teams and this year is the defense. Son Of Bum will save Kubiak. Not that we have a shut down defense, because we don't. But we do have a defense that we can sit up and watch.

Confess. When the defense takes the field, you are as much exicited and looking forward to something as you are when we get the ball. The Texans are a different team this year.

No doubt, and we don't need a defense that has to completely shutdown anyone. We need to be able to get 2-3 more stops per game than we did last year and we'll be fine.

True, a better defense covers up kub's horrendous playcalling better.

Kub did a good job this week though.

And that D would've looked better today if not for the bogus penalties that were called on the INT for a TD and the fumble recovery where we didn't even get a number called or a replay to show it.

This D is just going to get better and better. Figure that they barely have Wade's scheme implemented at this point, so once they get to the point of intuitively knowing it and having the instincts to trust each other, it will be a top 10 with our players.

Ask big Ben about our D today. I bet he's got some respect for it now.

The turnovers man, the turnovers. This defense has gotten us a couple every single game this year, & that's something we've never ever had. What's more mind boggling is that it seems JoJo is at the end of all of them.

Right now this dude has 2 ints & if not for penalties he'd have 3 ints, 1 returned for a TD & a blocked fg return for a TD. He has been better than advertised & by far the better db acquistion between he & Namdi.

Did we get any turnovers this game? The JJ INT didn't count, doesn't go on the books does it?

JA's at the end of the game... big time play.... ices the game, but "whooop"

The 2011 Texans have to have already matched last yeasr turn overs for the D. It is fun to watch the D at times knowing that they might just force and recor a fumble or get a pick. You never expected turnovers last year out of that D, now when then get beat a little and end up on the wrong side of the 50 you think to yourself that all right cause they're gonna force a turn over.

The D is far from elite, but it sure is fun to watch!!!!!

While the Defense is fun to watch, & I'm expecting them to get better & better every week,

Am I the only one who was worried that we put it on the defense one too many times?

Looking back, hindsight 20/20 & all that, it worked for us, they answered the call. But I wasn't comfortable on that last Pittsburgh drive. I was upset our offense couldn't run more time off the clock.

I know it's the Steelers, but we're supposed to be the Texans. We're supposed to be able to get a first down & couldn't.

I think that 11 minute opening drive by the Texans ultimately helped our defense at the end of the game. They barely played in the 1st quarter, while the Steelers D was already gasping for air when the second quarter started.

I was concerned with the long drive by the Steelers to start the 2nd half, but our D looked like they were pumped and had energy at the end.

I'm just happy to finally see our defense bring exotic blitzes and actually disguise their schemes a little better. Hoping to see Harris on the field soon, though.

My problem with Kubiak is that he is too conservative in crunch time. Offensively he was not going for the throat to close the game out. He got too conservative those last 2 drives. I was not happy that the Steelers were given that last drive. We should have closed them out instead of getting too conservative and give them that last chance.

Yep. This isn't the best defense in the NFL by a longshot. But when you compare it to the defenses of the past, it's night and day. This defense makes big plays. This defense forces turnovers. When the opposing quarterback drops back now, you don't automatically assume a 20 yard gain is about to occur, but that Mario and Company might put the QB on his back.

I'm still not sold on the secondary but if the front 7 keeps playing as well as they have and they keep harassing quarterbacks, they can mask a lot of the question marks in the secondary.

Yah, defense is supposed to cover up offensive mistakes, and visa versa... That's how it should be and how it is for even great SB teams...

I actually thought that the call to go deep to JJ in the 4th was a great call... I liked that aggresive call though it didnt work and there was great coverage... Also good to see Schaub make what i thought was a pretty good pass and not second guess himself...

Let's face it....we got the best offense in the NFL!!!
I don't think so. (Patriots? Saints? Packers?)

Having said that, I think that in ALL phases of the game -- running game, passing game, total defense and special teams -- the Texans could be "top 10" in all of them -- at least if the defense can keep harassing QBs like they did yesterday.
