Not because Chuck is Injury Prone
and Not because the Lions ever want to attempt to be creative on offense.

It's because Chuck is a gosh dang pothead.

Lions | C. Rogers Suspension Update
Mon, 3 Oct 2005 14:58:21 -0700

Updating ongoing reports, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Detroit Lions WR Charles Rogers has been notified by the league that he is being suspended four games for violation of the league's substance abuse policy. Unless Rogers appeals the suspension, it is expected to be announced as early as Tuesday, Oct. 4. Under the policy, Rogers' suspension means that he has had at least three positive tests of an illegal street drug; a fourth positive violation would result in a minimum one-year suspension from the league. ESPN had previously reported Rogers was flagged by the NFL's medical advisor when he provided a diluted urine sample at the NFL Combine before the 2003 NFL Draft. That result placed Rogers in the substance abuse program, which opened him to random testing from the league.

"As a rookie, Rogers led Detroit with 22 receptions for 243 yards and three scores in five games before breaking his right collarbone in practice and missing the rest of his rookie season.
In the first quarter of last year's opener, Rogers broke the same bone and had season-ending surgery."

This guy had the same kind of misfortune Joppru had, except Benny one uped
him by blowing out his knee in his third season. I dunno...... we all have our
own demons to fight one time or another in life. Rogers mighta stayed clean
and had an solid NFL career if not for the injuries ?

Seemed to me at the time that talent wise on the field anyway they where both equal talents (CR & AJ) with the edge given to Rogers as a home town pick with better hands. Andre was considered a more complete physical specimen, with raw tools & untapped upside. now Rogers uses his hands for other things besides football and Andre is still untapped (but through no fault of his own).

Yeah, you can't fault Detroit for taking him. He was one of the best WRs to ever grace college football. Truely one of the most fun to watch.
