3-13 will satisfy me at this point

It's obvious there will be no playoffs now. Just get 2 wins over Bud and the Titans, 1 over the Jags (can't let that tradition go) and let's hope 3-13 is bad enough to land us at the top of the draft.

Hopefully next year, we will come in with a better roster, key weakness being addressed and a strong draft. Someone else making the front office decisions and possibly on the field as well.

2-14 or 3-13 is about all we can expect. THEN maybe this team can be built the way it should have been built, this time without Casserly and Capers direct involvement...

Im not going to root for a loss any week.. but I would not be disappointed if we finished last in the league.

What I mean is.. I am already convinced that this team isnt ready.. that we need to change our philosophy and some of our personel. Therefore.. getting a high draft pick to help move things along.. and finishing bad enough to give us an excuse to fire some people.. would be fine with me.

but like I said.. ill be rooting for a win every week regardless... im just not gonna get all choked up if we dont.

Don't get me wrong. I didn't say that I would be rooting against the Texans. I meant, if they beat the teams I hate and get a strong draft position to build this team right, it wouldn't be the end of the world for me.

I am thinking 3-13 opposed to 0-16, not beating the Titans and Jags.

However, when it is all said and done, 8-8 is probably the worst thing that could happen to this franchise about now. With that record they will have a middle of the road draft position, chances are both Casserly and Capers keep their jobs, and we will be waiting MUCH longer to field a contender.

It's funny how before the season started an 8 and 8 record was aceptable. People wanted 10 and 6. Most said 9 and 7 is more likley, but 8 and 8 would be satisfactory. Now, 3 games into the season and an 8 and 8 record is "the worst thing that can happen to this team." Capers has proven he can win with the right players. A change does need to be made. I think it's Casserly who needs to go. I live and die by my Texans. Loosing makes me sick. It's becoming more and more obvious that it's the players, not the gameplan, that is costing us the game. There is no reason that when we blitz 5 guys, the QB gets no pressure. There is no reason that when the opposing team rushes 3 Carr ends up getting sacked. It's not the scheme, it's the players not functioning at an NFL level. We do have some good players, but not nearly enough to be competative week in and week out. Carr is a keeper, Dominick Davis is a keeper, Andre Johnson, Jabar Gafney, Dunta Robinson, Marcus Coleman, Robaire Smith and Seth Payne are all keepers. The rest of the team seems to be more suited for a backup role at this point in their careers. 4 years into the 5 year plan and we only start 9 draft choices on both sides of the ball. Our team was suposed to be built around the draft yet we seem to be failing dramatically in that area.
I'd be satisfied with going 8 and 8 and disapointed with 7 and 9. What I expect to see each and every season is constant improvement. We are a young team and there is no reason that we do not improve from season to season.

I know people want a high draft choice, but why?? Where position would you draft? Our most glaring need is ofensive line. There are 9 projected first round Offensive linemen in next years draft. The worst thing that can happen to this team is for the fans to loose faith and abandon ship 1/4 of the way through the season.

It is ridiculous to say that you want your team to be the worst in the league so we can get a high draft pick. For one, the first pick in the draft should be Leinart and we don't need another QB, so it would not make any sense for us to "need" the top pick. The whole point of professional sports is to win, so saying that you would rather have your team do bad so they can get a higher draft pick is horrible.

Most people at the beginning of the year picked us to be 1-2 or 0-3 at this point. No one thought we'd win at Buffalo or at home against Pittsburgh, and seeing how the Bengals are currently playing no one would have predicted us to win a game at their place either.

We can realistically still go 8-8. We have Tennessee coming in this week that has a decent offense but a very poor defense, then Seattle the following week that is the same, plus they play with no heart. Obviously the Colts will likely beat us, but then we have Cleveland at home who we should beat, then Jacksonville and Indy on the road which I think we will likely lose both, then Kansas City who we will probably lose to, but then St. Louis (see Seattle and Tennessee notes). Then we play at Baltimore, which a month ago I would have said would kill us, but their offense is equally as terrible right now, so we could win that one, then at Tennessee who we could and I think should sweep, then home against Arizona and Jacksonville which we should at least be able to split, then the last one at the 49ers who we should be able to beat quite handily. I predict we can come away with a 7-9 or 8-8 record out of this and it is the NFL where anything can happen. Who would have thought that the Dolphins would beat the Patriots last year? The Bills started 0-4 and finished 9-7 and the Packers were similar to that last year.

Either way we have improved every year so far, and after losing some key defensive players (which I think was pretty dumb to cut) I think at equal 7-9 record would be alright this year, but obviously I want and hope for better. Saying that the best thing for our team would be to go 3-13 and completely trash our team and start over again is plain stupid. If we did that, four years from now we'll be in the same spot and you people will be whining that we need to rebuild again. We have to keep and build on the talent that we have and definitely make some changes, but throwing in the season and being the worst team and completely rebuilding helps no one.
