The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Yankee_In_TX

Dance Lindsay!
The Good:
1. Our D has great pressure for 3 quarters. The front 7 were very disruptive.
2. Special teams did ok, NOTHING like last year.
3. We hung with a real team for 3 quarters.

The Bad:
4. Injuries? Tate, Mario and Ryans - hopefully they'll all be fine tomorrow.
5. K-Jax. Period.
6. Red zone offense, where are our TD's? A result of no Foster? Maybe?

The Ugly:
7. The epic collapse in the 4th of our defense. Unsure if our players were gased or what, but for some reason we could not stop the slant.
8. K-Jax, getting burned on the exact same play TWICE for the 2 point conversion.
9. Coaching on #8.
10. Schaub's passes, I know they've never been pretty, but why was he so off all day?

Since there are a bunch of threads I thought it would be easier to post all my thoughts in one place. I hope some of your share your views in here.

Pretty sure the D was gassed pretty bad in the 4th.
KJ needs to ride the pine. Is the fact that Phillips knocked his CB abilities pretty badly in the offseason tell us that the guys behind him are worse, or is he starting due to draft pick status?

i think draft status. IMO

This was an issue most of the game. Not just the 4th quarter. Breeze was simply awesome out there today.

The bottom line to me is that if this team can be that dominant all season...we should be in good shape come January.

I understand the disdain for KJax but who else are we gonna put in? Allen? Yet again, we are screwed at that position.

Pisses me off, were the texans right?!

Over in the french quarter representing but of coarse they let me down..

Like they all tell me "texans known to choke".

well lets give harris a shot, hell even Allen looked better once he was put into the game.

I'd be happy w tossing Harris out there some. Allen, to me, has looked just as bad. CB2 is gonna have to be by committee; none of them have stood out...well in a positive way hahaha.

well hell atleast let harris play nickle, let him get his feet wet, see how he does and then go from there. he hasnt seen the field as of yet.

Deeply in need of a real #2 CB on this team. KJ isn't the answer, Allen isn't either.

It's all tied together. In the first half the defense kept the Saints under control. The offense went and got FG's instead of TD's. At the half we're up 16-10 when the Texans offense (this elite offense we're always hearing about) should have made it 21-10. Then we come out in the third, give up 7 and answer with another 3.

That look that was in Drew Brees eyes was there for two reasons. 1) The Saints had worked out how to attack the Texans, and 2) The game was still well within reach.

You can get away with FG's against Kerry Collins and Chad Henne. You don't win against the Saints in the Superdome with FG's.

I simply can not believe that as deep as we are at WR/TE/Swing positions that NOT having Arian in a game prevents TDs.

For years we've "gotten by" with our passing game but needed a runner, now we have a runner and we still can't do it.

Seriously boggles my brain

And KJ -- wow, so, so bad. But who could we get? Everyone else that was out there has been signed.

Hard to say BUT all i know is Foster has a nose for the endzone and last season even though we were 6-10 we were one of the best scoring teams in the redzone. And foster with 16 TDs had to contribute to that.

Keeping it real...that whole CB class (2010 draft) looking weak right now.

McCourty is constantly owned...system CB at best
Jackson...
Wilson has done nothing but get picked on
Robinson is GOD AWFUL

Yeah, Foster was sorely missed today. He can make people miss that Tate, while very good, doesn't have. I'm hoping that we have him back healthy against the Steelers. I think the outcome of this game would have been different with him lining up in the backfield.

I'm not sure if having Foster back would have won the game for us. What I have noticed in the last 2 games is that not only is Foster better at making people miss, but he also finds cutback lanes more than any other RB on our roster. With our ZBS, those cutback lanes can equal big yardage at times.

remember towards the end of the game when tate dropped that easy pass and he had lots of ground in front of him ???? that right there would of kept our drive alive. Foster is a GOOD catching RB.

The absolute most underrated misplay of the game. 1st and 10...up 9, that play gets at least 8. Run 2 times, get the first...we still have it, going toward the 9 min mark.

yep its amazing how 1 little mistake here our there can change a game. hell he catches that and thats another 2 mins off the clock and who knowsmaybe some points, but it was a big key to our loss IMO.
