I watched the game closely and the Texans gave me a lot to cheer about.

In this game the Texans improved by leaps and bound.

2 passes to their biggest playmaker. 7 sacks. Another sub-200 yard game in passing yards. Numerous mental mistakes by the franchise QB. No pressure on the opposing QB. No forced turnovers.

I'd like to see someone limbo under the bar that has been set for this team.

Good post!

I really understand that people are upset by the loss but we held the second best scoring teams to 16 points and we were in the game til the end. I believe some people get off on the negatives and are blind to the improvements.

Our offense showed improvement and will only get better.

Bring on the Titans.

I could give you a list just like that one for ever single team in the NFL. Even the ones that win. No one is perfect.

Are we a good team yet? Nope, but I now have hope, something I didn't have very much of last week. Also, our team improved by leaps and bounds and had a chance to win this game in the final few minutes.

I will enjoy my half full glass, while you complain your glass is half empty.

I think the Titans are going to have their hands full next week. Despite all of the negatives we want to gripe about, the Texans showed me enough to prove they can win against a much worse team than the Bengals.

You're quite easily impressed aren't you? You're probably impressed that we got people to Dallas in 23 hours, or that the Federal deficit is only in the trillions, and not the quintillons. I wish I had you as a customer. You're the only person who Fedex says Nope, we don't absouletly, positvely need to deliver that package overnight. You would probably call thier customer service line and thank them for getting it to you in a week. :goodnight

Good nite!

THEY DID IMPROVE AND WE ALL ASKED FOR IMPROVEMENT.

I think the glass is half full.

We will win next week.

Too funny. My sentiments exactly...
Our running game didn't even get a 100 yards either...
When will capers wake up and realize that we do not have what it takes to do what he wants. Players are "coached" to play his style of ball. If you don't play "his" style, you probably won't make the team. This all falls on 1 thing, the coaches. I am tired of being spoon fed dirt and told that it is steak. You just need to chew it longer.

Last year before the draft, I clearly stated they needed offensive help. I got blasted from top to bottom for it. Until they get a running back and some line help, we will never get there. The problem wasn't Palmer, it is Capers, pure and simple.

A member of the "fire capers" club, but not the president....

As strange as it sounds I too now have hope for the season. When I turned on the TV today and saw that the Texans were hanging in there and only down by 7 at the half I was pretty concerned. A good showing and possibly Caper & Co might survive the season. A couple of "looking better" losses instead of blow outs and Bob McNair might think all Capers and his staff need is another year to get it fixed.

No concern about that now though. After watching them crater in the second half following their one good drive of the day I'm feeling pretty good about where the team is going this year. Capers won't be the coach in 2006 and depending on where the decisions to draft/sign some of these clowns came from Casserly might not make it either.

I'm feeling pretty positive now!

Try acctually looking at stats... DD had 81 yds, Carr had at least 25, Wells had at least 20... by the way that adds up to way over 100, and way more than the Bengals. We scored more this game than in the entire rest of the season and we were compleatly in this game, isnt that what everyone complained about? "Its not that we lost, its how we lost.." Well, guess what, we whent down, but we went down fighting. Gaff has emerged as a viable option, has proven reliable hands and gets open. We got away from running in the 3rd quarter and I think that was a mistake...

The one thing that most worries more is the defensvie play-calling. There were multiple times when we only had a 4 man rush, yet there were people free all over the secondary. Also , we had Drob on TJ and Faggins/P-Buc (our nickle corner) on Chad JOhnson... why???? Also, by playing so much zone we take away the only strength our D really has- the secondary. If you don't allow Drob to take away the other teams wide recivers, we will never stop people on 3rd and long. In the end this was a muich better game against a good team (note i have not mentioned the "fumble", i dont even want to go there) and there is pleanty og good to build off of for next week,.. :texflag:

I agree..yet I am disturbed by our offense. I mean why did we draft AJ at #3 when he don't even use him.
We should have either traded down and picked up someone that would be used (defensive player or OL)

It seems to me that it's okay by some to have a loss as long as we are in the game...Let me go on record as saying - A LOSS IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE TO ME.
I don't care what we held the other team to, they still had 1 pt more than my team at the end of the game.
I think that VIC must go also. Like Palmer his defense for all it's "complexity" is pretty simple if you are on the other side of it. Bend don't break is ridiculous.
Here's my biggest suggestion for the Texans - on both sides of the ball...

Football is about imposing your will. Stop taking what the other team is giving us and lets MAKE them play our game.

Aside from the 7 sacks the offense did much better than the last two games. THey were still not where they should be but they improved. The defense held the bengals to their fewest points all season. Despite the lack of sacks again there was some pressure on Palmer. Peek i think played decent in terms of getting in there, but there are still too few actual blitzes. Also, Dunta was getting owned by TJ so its good he was not covering Chad. The texans improved a lot, but its clear the bengals are very good this season.

great post

IMO, the last drive sums up the Texans and where they are at in year 4. Needing a touch down w/no time outs, our QB throws dump off passes that get us nowhere and eat up what little time we have on the clock and then-
determined not to throw a hail mary pass on the last play for whatever reason-takes his 'trademark' sack...should I even mention the norm is to save time outs for the end of the game? For a coach who lives and breathes for the chance to win the game on the last drive, its amazing the team doesn't have a clue how to do it...

But, you know what, people who think like Justin may be right--if we're going to lose, let's at least look good doing it and-for sure-praise the team for their effort or whatever...better yet, just hang an 'out to lunch' sign.... :hmmm:

I am glad we were competetive and not blown out and embarrassed.

Where was Armstrong, I thought for sure they were going to get him more involved. Gaffney the savior, NOT. Even the injured Bradford was in for a coupe of plays.

PBurnt even looked good tackling. Faggins didn't get burnt, and a bad Def penalty called on him in the endzone against Henry.

LOL that part is kind of funny (really it is!). In my mind I was imagining a WWF wrestling announcer saying...."oh wait, no he can't be? wait he is! David Carr is going to preform his trademark sack move to end the game."

He is getting "owened" because he is either playing zone and TJ catches the ball as he is entering someone else's zone, or beacuse he is in man coverage and Palmer has all day to throw. Same old story, same old results.

By the way, in its first 3 games Cinncy had 2 sacks, today they had 7... :brickwall despite all the talk during the preseason, nothing has changed...

...would make a good scenario except that wrestling is staged and football is not---too, Carr's penchant for getting sacked is common fodder
