carr is a robot

if been defending him all game and still think he is gonna be a good qb for a long time. but here is my problem. it seems he has to be told every little thing for every situation. he ran out of bounds for losses the first two weeks until someone apparantly told him to throw it away instead of taking a sack. hasnt he played football his whole life. shouldnt he no that by now.

also he has been coached to get rid of the ball, throw it to the rb if no one is open. doesnt he realize with 1 min left and 60 yards to go that a dump off over the middle is not an option. i guess no one went out and changed his progam for the 2 min drill. he has to start being more aware of the situation and knowing what to do without always being told. im hoping that this new less complicated offense will help. maybe his mind is just clogged with to much info.

i think carr has a lot of other great abilities that other qb's dont have. but his decession making isnt always the best. guess you cant have everything. if we can start protecting him these little things wont mean as much and he will also learn as he gets more experience.

Your exactly right its not an option. So why was that play called. DD should have been blocking or went deep down the sidelines.

I wonder if part of the problem the Texans created was when they drafted Carr they basically handed him the keys to the franchise. Not that their is anything wrong with that and he was the #1 pick in the draft it is understandable..I wonder if the problem is that Carr never has had to worry about competition. Competition is a good thing. I am not questioning Carr's work ethic, but wonder if he needs to be "pushed"

*pushed* should = BENCHED

Before you jump on me...he needs a slap in the face. Maybe a harsh dose of reality from the bench when he's NOT injured will wake him up...

he doesnt need to be benched. he played well today.

He needs to be more like Joey Harrington, duh! You know the guy, Less touchdowns, completions and yards on more attempts than Carr, while playing on the far better offense. THE TEXANS PICKED THE WRONG ONE BUBBA!

The play calling has been suspect for a long time. Nothing has changed with Pendry. Its still the same old don't loooooose grind it out mentality. A lot of good players are being wasted by this coaching staff and the coahing staff never gives the team a chance to win. Did Mathis or Armstrong catch one ball in this game? No hands Bradford is just not going to put enough pressure on the offense to make them think twice about double coverage on AJ. If Mathis could get loose a couple of times it might just worry the defense a bit. If you watch our play there is absolutely no imagination. Its frightenly mundane.

Since you didn't watch the game Ibar, I'll let you know that Gaffney started in place of Bradford and had a fine game. The ball didn't get thrown down the field much today.

It really doesn't look that way too often. I mean, he does do things that are pretty stupid IMO. The dumps to DD on our last drive was STUPID. Taking a sack for a 17 yard loss on 3rd and 25 is Stupid. Taking a sack on the last play of the game is STUPID.

That said, I still think Carr just needs to keep on improving instead of regressing. And his coaches need to do everything they can to make sure he does keep on improving. Finding another starting QB is just not an option for us RIGHT NOW, so we just need to stick with Carr and hope he keeps improving.

:texflag: A QBs job is to win the game . Flirting for a fourth year team and fourth year QB is not good enough .

Warren Moon did'nt get a year before he heard it . No more excuses for Carr . Bernie Kosar in his second year in the league running a 5.3 40 yd dash would not get sacked 7 times .

Roger Clements needs to tutor Carr on having what it takes to gut it out .

So why do we pay all of the other players. To just sit around and watch the QB duke it out. I guess everbody has forgotten that the Texans are a ball control team. That means run the ball and play solid defense. In a ball control offense its not the QB's job to win the game its the QB's job is to not loose the game wich is exactly what DC did.

Carr played better today.

And the more I think about it, the more I think this entire coaching staff...defense included...needs to go away.

I am seeing players actually try, but it appears we have about the most conservative offensive AND defensive playcalling in the football universe.

Their were hardly any blitzes to speak of, and the three-man rush is really beginning to irk me BIG TIME. The cushion we give WRs is about 4 yards (12 feet) more than it should be. I saw more aggression by Faggins against the WR, but I saw WRs running underneath our DB cushion and then get our LBs turned around into a position where the LB lost contain/coverage. That happened all game long, and just about every catch by the Bengals WRs happened on those underneath curls and slants.

The offense was very vanilla.

Carr didn't turn the ball over. He threw it out of bounds when he needed to, and he didn't do the pound-the-ball-into-the-turf cry baby sulking that he usually does. I give him an "A" for effort. The dude sacrificed his body on crucial QB keepers that got us a couple of first downs on different occasions.

Overall, we looked like an NFL team...a losing NFL team...but we at least resembled a team that plays in the NFL.

Frankly, the coaching staff is choking this team's players and their ability to make plays. It's time for a fresh set of coaches all the way around IMO.

Harrington sucks just as bad as Carr. He has 3 excellent receivers and a damm good running back, and his team still sucks. maybe not as bad as the Texans right now, nut Harrington hasn't proved anything

He doesnt realy think we should have gotten Joey Harrington

Carr's yipes didn't flare up that bad today, but then the Bengals D is not the same as the blitz crazy Steelers D. Even though DCs mental dexterity is sometimes dubious in stressful, challengeing situations, he is a player who
you have to admit has considerable talent, and that was on display today. He has a very strong, accurate arm and runs far better than all but a few other NFL OBs.
Carr and the offense so need a real TE who is not a liability for run blocking and at the same time there for them as that possession receiver over the middle for the key 1st down reception to keep a drive going. The absense of that kind of TE on the team was painfully illustrated again today when Rivers was unable to make a play on either one of those 2 consecutive passes over the middle.

Agreed .. sad thing is that I don't think any of the 31 other defenses in the league have a problem gameplanning for us. Same ole story

double AJ and make DD handle the ball.

Everyone wake up today we are 0-3 and yes Carr is not the franchise QB we thought he would be, face it one good year at Fresno does not make you a Peyton Manning or Michael Vick or even Tom Brady, face it David is not the answer for the Texans he will be lucky to have a job at the end of the year, he might want to hook up with Tiom Couch. as for David Carr as a person he is outstanding great with the fans a good father to his chicldren, but is not the Houston Texans franchise QB, not now not tommorrow not ever, so please move on with the Carr wreck stories, they are getting old.

Carr had a 97.3 Passer Rating today with a TD and no Int's

Watch the games.

Once we can do some of the basic, move the chains things down to a science, we will take some more chances. But seriously if you are having trouble executing a ten yard pass play, you have no business trying more complex playcalls where the pass protection and overall offensive chemistry has to be even better.

Let me also add that Victor Riley is the anti-deep ball.

maybe we should make you the GM and you can just blow the team up and start over.. how many quarterbacks in the game are as good as Manning or Brady... and Carr is a better "quarterback" than Vick, Vick is a highlight real, and thats it. Carr is by no means a Tim Couch, Carr has no line, no TE, no options at WR besides AJ (Gaff did great today, better than AJ, hopefully he keeps it up and AJ plays better) and no OC... our longest play is for 28 yards this year, thats horrible, we need to be airing it out more, we are to conservative and its killing us. ... but hey lets let David take the fall for all of this. there is a reason you are a fan and not the GM, they know more than you. there is a reason you don't hear Carr's starting position in jeopardy like Harrington's, because Carr makes plays when he gets protected. Carr has been sacked 20 times, and hwo knows how many hurries defenses have gotten on him, its ridiculous. if we are going to stop with anything, stop with the "Carr is not the franchise quarterback"

:texflag: I'll trade you Carr for Vick . Hey give Carr 8 million cause he has a 97 passer rating for 2 games . When the Texans get the ball down by 3 or 6 in the 4th quarter ... that rating does'nt mean a thing . Did he rally his team down the field ? Don't blame bad calls you make your own luck .

To me it just seems like we can't go down the field to Matis or anyone else if we can't block for longer than 2 sec. Anytime Carr droped back for a deep pass he was getting presure. He has no excuse for passing in the middle of the field with 1 min left and no timeouts. Poor time management. If we are trying to win games in the 4th qtr maybe we should pratice the 2 min drill with no time outs.

Doe not matter Carr is still 0-3 bottom line wake up already !

Last I checked, there are no standings for David Carr, only for the Texans--they are 0-3. By your non-logic the Texans should dump all 53 players since how well any individual played is irrelevant as long as the team lost.

They need to keep rolling him out like they were early on when they were moving the ball. Then they'd ask him to stand in the pocket = Dead meat David. He's not Michael Vick, but he does have good speed and is a threat to run the ball. They need to exploit every thing he can do that might make defenses a little more anxious over him. Right now every team knows the staff will try to make him stand in the "pocket" and take his beating.

You're right about the defense, too. What little they did blitz rattled Palmer.

One thing I got from this game was the fact that the Bengals are not as good as everyone said they were. Had we been aggressive defensively, and maintained an aggressive offense, we could have taken them.

Does him running out of bounds for a loss of what, maybe 1-2 yards, change anything other than a couple stats on a piece of paper? NO! It doesn't really matter if he chucks it out of bounds or runs out of bounds, we still havn't had any forward progress. Ask youself why he has to do that and maybe you will get a clue as to why we are 0-3.

Isn't there an equal analogy with the O-LINE being mummies.

Its like half the people on this board think Carr is the only player on the Texans roster.

For real. Anyway, Carr is a good QB. Offense looked better yesterday. There are 13 games left. They need to be able to make more plays to involve AJ. There are 13 games left. Dominick Davis had some pretty good runs yesterday. There are 13 games left. JG is a threat in disguise. There are 13 games left. Pendry should involve the TEs. There 13 games left. Oh and did I mention there are 13 games left?

Just in case anybody missed it. There is 13 games left.

What did he do wrong exactly.

1) He hasn't taken control of the team...he's not a strong leader.
2) When he actually HAS protection, he doesn't know what to do with it...
3) He's stuck on the play that's called...very rarely does he scan the field to find an open receiver: he's too busy staring at the *go to* guy and ends up with a sack.
4) He needs to learn to throw the ball away if that's his only option.

In reality, I don't want him HURT. I like David, don't get me wrong. I just expected more from him by now...

ask the vikings last year how good david was with good protection.. i dont want to hear the "minnesota had no D" what he threw for like 200+ yards the second half, dont tell me he can't play. the fact is, andre played to potential that game, and we had a receiver actually step up and play (armstrong) that is what david needs...protection and more than just one dominant receiver every week, and we will be pretty damn good...altought andre hasn't been exactly dominating this year, but with double and triple teams, it does become a problem
