Football Gameplan's Week 2 Preview Video - Texans vs Dolphins

I wonder if this guy knows that Miami just released it's nickel cb. There's no way they are covering the Texans WR/TE's AND getting enough pass rush with the front four. Pick your poison, Miami.
This should be a good test of our defense but our offense is built to defeat this style of defense.
 
The Dolphins couldn't stop the run against the Patriots. What makes him think they can stop the Texans' running game?

Hey Em. What do you think of the Texans' running game now that you've seen Ben Tate in a starting role? Better than the Colts huh? :)

The Texan's running game was better tham the Colts when SS was our starter. What point are you trying to make?
 
The x factor in this game isn't the other WRs. Kevin Walter while solid isn't a game breaker.. He won't be that hard to replace, there are receivers everywhere. Even our damn FB can run crisp routes and has great hands. :)

The x factor will be Arian Foster, running ability aside remember he did lead the league in receiving also. Hell Foster had 600 yards receiving just like Kevin Walter last year. Also the Dolphins need to bring more than just their front seven.. If that's all they're bringing to the party, Houston's offensive line will cut them down like trees.

I believe the Dolphins are 0-2 at home in September 4 of the last 5 years, as well as 1-11 at home in there last 12.

I think we win 24-21. Dolphins are a good team.

Who cares who he is or who he isn't? He's just a man with a hobby, geez. There are ways to criticize his analysis without being rude.

Just wanted to hear what he thinks about our running game now that he's seen it. I'm not speaking to him like he's some expert, but just another poster on this board.
 
I said we'd beat the colts by at least two td's. I think we will roll the dolphins in a similar fashion.

I think Matt will be a bit more crisp this week and I think the defense will get better too.

Dolphins can win this game cuz anything is possible, but I don't see it.
 
At this point, I look at the Colts game as the 3rd pre-season game that we never had because Harbaugh decided to go against conventional wisdom and NOT treat the game like a dress rehearsal.

The Dolphins are a good team. They slogged it out with the Patriots but just didn't have the firepower to hang.

The interesting part is that prior to that game, everyone expected the Dolphin D to be pretty good and the Dolphin O to stink. Which makes you wonder how much you can actually take away from that game.

I don't expect our offense to have any problem with that Dolphin D but I do expect the Dolphin D to put up more of a fight than they did against the Patriots. I don't expect the Dolphin Offense to play as well as they did against the Pats but I don't know if our Defense is nearly as good as they looked against the Colts. OTOH, I don't think Wade pulled out the stops against the Colts.

So... for me... I think this is another one of those "should win" games. We should win this one. By at least 7.
 
Thanks Gang! Preciate the feedback!! The point I made about the running backs was that I feel that both teams have similar backs talent wise.. I didn't compare running games of both teams just the talent of the backs.

As far as being an "expert" ... TV doesn't make someone more credible than others...Hell, I played college ball not in the pros, that doesn't mean I know more or less than a person on TV... its just a medium that reaches more people than the internet does. PLUS people on TV get fed information by guys like you that actually do the research.

And YES the editing software I use is Final Cut/iMovie...but its far from "some guy with a webcam" LOL.. I like your enthusiasm though:user:

Also, one more thing... Week 1 is essentially the 5th preseason game and Week 2 is really Week 1 (if this makes sense).. Tough to get a read on a team until Week 4 imho
 
Solid analysis, but I don't agree with your outcome.

I do agree with your gap control statement for the Texans D, those traps and draw plays could be killer against us.

I think the X-factor as you put it is JJ Watt, with everyone worrying about Mario on the outside, JJ is going to cause havoc against the Dolphins.

Thanks DBC! Watt is a Man Child... "Country Strong" as we used to call people growing up.. As one of the poster's put it about Incognito.. I think Watt could be a real nuisance this week
 
Schaub has had a mediocre to bad performance in the opener the last two years in a row (both home games). He has followed those games up with two of the better outings of his career on the road. Also, his road numbers over the last two seasons in general are fantastic, way better than his home numbers. I think he keeps the trend going and has a monster performance Sunday and the Texans win big. Very excited to see what our defense looks like against what appears to be an improved Chad Henne.

Similar backs talent wise?? I think Tate would start for the DOlphins, and that Ward would give Reggie a run. I think too many people discredit what Foster does cause of the system. I think he would be a game breaker for anyone.

No BigBull..the comment I made last week was in reference to the Colts backfield. I do agree the Texans have the superior backfield in comparison to the Dolphins.
 
I think this game will be a bit of a roll reversal for us. We usually use the run to set up our play action and passing game, but this game will be all about the opposite. They do have good corners, but we all know AJ is not that easy to contain. However, I think our biggest asset this game are Daniels and Casey. It seems that NE built a blueprint on how to get past the Dolphins D - they really struggled to cover the TE, and Daniels will do some damage.

I think they will bring more pressure than they did vs Brady, but if we can back them up using Daniels/Casey/AJ, we will find plenty of room to run for Foster or Tate.

I apologize. need to look at the dates. Though I will say, not to many teams have as good a stable of backs as the texans do.
 
I expect to see our TEs quite active........the Phins have not been able to cover TEs.

Our pass rush will be challenged, as opposed to last week. They will not be facing a potted plant at QB.........over-pursuit will need to be avoided and outside containment will need to be successfully executed.
 
Does Wade Phillips being familiar with Marc Colubmo`s tendencies possibly give us an advantage in the front 7 creating havoc?

EDIT: Also, Em, you have got to add some editing to your shows and cut out the stuff where you hesitate or stutter a little while you are talking. Minor complaint but I think it would add a lot to your pieces.
 
WHEN THE DOLPHINS HAVE THE BALL

Henne did his best to keep the Dolphins in the game, throwing for a career- high 416 yards with a pair of touchdown passes. He also rushed for 59 yards and a score while getting picked off once and sacked four times. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall (7 receptions) got plenty of looks from his quarterback and ended with 139 receiving yards, and Reggie Bush was targeted often as well in his Dolphins' debut. The running back made nine catches for 56 yards with a score and rushed for another 38 yards on 11 carries. Wide receiver Davone Bess and tight end Anthony Fasano also had big games on Monday, with each making five catches and totaling 92 and 82 yards, respectively. Miami would like to see a better effort out of the offensive line, which is led by All-Pro left tackle Jack Long, after Henne was under consistent pressure in the opener.

Miami will be getting its first look at the Texans' new 3-4 scheme that had success a week ago. In his new role at outside linebacker, Mario Williams (2 tackles) had two sacks -- giving him 50 for his career -- along with a forced fumble, while defensive end Antonio Smith (3 tackles) added a sack and forced fumble of his own. Houston struggled against the pass a season ago, but held Indianapolis' Kerry Collins to just 197 yards through the air and a fourth- quarter touchdown pass. The new-look secondary features corner Johnathan Joseph (5 tackles) and safety Danieal Manning (2 tackles), both acquired as free agents during the offseason, while rookie defensive end J.J. Watt (5 tackles) also made his debut as a starter last week. Linebackers Brian Cushing (7 tackles) and DeMeco Ryans (6 tackles) also had solid games for Houston in the opener.

KEYS TO THE GAME

The Dolphins will need to keep an eye on Johnson, who will be looking to go off in his hometown. The Miami-born wide receiver has 30 catches, 426 yards and three touchdowns in four career games against the Dolphins and will certainly be looking to copy what made the New England receivers so successful in Week 1.

The team that has the ball last just might win. Four of the five all-time meetings between these clubs have been decided by three points or less, including three in the final 30 seconds of the game. Schaub ran for a three- yard score to clinch a Houston win in 2008, while the Texans' Kris Brown was good on a field goal attempt from 57 yards out with one second to go in the previous season's matchup.

Miami's secondary will need to quickly forget last week; no silver linings, just get better. It is unfortunate that Sapp was the one to fall on the sword, but now the rest of the unit needs to turn the guilt into anger and big hits versus the Texans.

OVERALL ANALYSIS

After getting torched through the air on Monday, the Dolphins will be facing a more balanced Houston attack and could have to contend with a rested -- and hopefully healthy -- Foster. Henne will be out to prove that last week's numbers were not a fluke, while Houston should also be looking to show that missing a matchup with Manning didn't lead to its big defensive showing. The Texans raised expectations for the season with their big Week 1 victory, but can't afford to take the foot off the gas in Miami.
