Watched Mike & Mike in the Morning to hear commentary about our game...

Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, M&M only focused on the Colts without Peyton, "Colts better do this...", "Colts need a checkup from the neck up...", Colts, Colts, Colts.

No kudos to Texans D play, no recognition of our offensive steamrolling, mopping the floor with our division nemesis. I don't think I heard Mario or Tate's names once. No respect. Yet. :aggressive:

We're 1-0 and so are some bad teams. We have to earn it, especially after going 2-8 in our last 10 games...

I detest that show, rarely watch it! Those two guys are so busy trying to out talk each other they lose sight of desent commentary!

I got this quote from a "friend" the other day. " I'm a Cowboy fan, BUT, I like the Texans too! When you guys win a SB I will be right there with you!" I can't put my reply on this MB, it would not be suitable! I doubt I will hear from this "friend" again! BUT, this is the attitude out there in general. Until we PROVE ourselves by WINNING a SB, we will not get the respect we all want as fans. Look at the Cardinals. They went to the SB but bombed out. Fans don't respect them anymore now than they did before that fluke of a year. We gotta take it ALL my TT friends, or this time next year we will still be bitchin about not being respected! JMO!!

Honestly, it seems like every year the national media actually picks us to actually DO something with our season (see Tom Jackson picking us to go to the Super Bowl last year) and the Texans as of yet, have ALWAYS thrown egg on their face.

So, if I was one of the talking heads, I wouldn't believe it until I see it from the Texans. The Texans need to go 3-1 to start to get any kind of "respect" which means beating MIA, and either NO or PITT.

I prefer to the team under the radar anyway most of the time.

One last thought, I think Peyton being out is thr bigger story for now, he's been basically the face of the NFL for years and clearly IS the Colts who may not make the playoffs for the 1st time in like 10 years, so, yeah that kind of is the bigger story right now.

(I agree though that I get tired of all the overlooking of the Texans too sometimes so I see where you are coming from)

this is a good thing lets just fly under the radar and sneak up or anyone. we had a stack of talk last year and look where that got us.

the national media not talking about us is a good thing.

You shouldn't overreact after losing a week 1 game, and it works vise versa.

Anyone who's expecting praise or respect after a win over the Colts should be fully open to receiving chants of "fraud" if we lose next week against the Miami.

Good. I don't want their respect. All I know is we got a game against Miami this week, everything else is inconsequential. The talking heads get paid to talk, let 'em.

No respect yet...no care yet. We haven't done anything to earn it.
Skins, Raiders, Jax are 1-0, does that mean they're any good?

What is the record in the month of November under Kubiak?

I'll start really believing when December rolls around and the record is 8-4 or similar.

Ugh. Not another "we don't get any respect" thread. Please, make it stop.

Every national writer in the country loves us and has us going to the playoffs, yet we're whining about "no respect"?

I somewhat agree here. However, we are 1-0 in our division, and that's better than both the Colts and the Titans.

If we can go 3-1, we really need to lose to the Saints, that way we're in better position with our AFC record moving forward.

Well what have they done to earn it?

The media has actually given the Texans quite a bit of respect the past few years, outside maybe Lombardi and a few others...

But it is funny how people are diagnosing the Colts as if they're geniuses... It's real simple...

Win in Miami, win on the road against Saints, beat Steelers at home.

I couldn't give a crap what Mike and Mike in the Morning think. I just want Ws.

I am sick of fudgy foo foo football talk.

Let's talk more X and O talk on the forum, and less making issues out of things that aren't issues. That ends up happening when there's nothing going on and we can't wait for the next game.

Actually, I'd rather they not give us respect. I really do. Looks to me that everyone in this organization really has a chip on their shoulder right now and even more they have it there because they know they put it there themselves.

Last year everyone was thinking we would be that team to make the playoffs and all we did was give away games.

I think this team knows they are better than that and I feel like this year they are on a mission. I noticed Kubiak's face in the game and I have to say that for the first time I saw a pretty determined looking coach. The players were the same too. Guys like Demeco and Mario were adding a little extra with their hits.

In short though, I'd rather not disagree with the media right now because the truth is we don't know if this will be the same Texan team that will screw things up in Miami this coming Sunday and put us all back where we started from.

Hahaha....ESPN NFL Live Top 10 plays of the week:

#7 Colt@Texans -- Kerry Collins TD pass to Reggie Wayne in back of the endzone.

Other plays were kickoff & punt returns for TDs, Brady to Welker 99 yd. TD, etc.

No Texans plays, no Jacoby return, no Andre tipped TD reception. I know it sounds like a broken record, but the Colts get a Top 10 play???

Ca'mon, man! :rake:

We really didn't do anything spectacular...those other returns were spectacular. Even the Wayne catch. The Ginn return a 99 yd TD...that deserves to be there.

Any ways we did nothing special. We beat up a bad team, exactly what good teams are supposed to do.

Week 3 & 4, Saints and Steelers.

Win those games we WILL get plenty of attention.

And if someone "demands" respect, they better be disappointed in anything less than wins against both of them. 1-1 just shows how "pretty good" the Texans are.

Preach it sister!

This town's sports inferiority complex is comical. I actually like what I hear out of One Reliant Park so far. Ben Tate was on PFT Live today and he hit all the right talking points as far as I'm concerned. Didn't want to talk about the division. Just said the Texans have one game this week against the Dolphins. That is their focus this week.

That's all they need to do each week this season. Focus on that week's game. Everything else, playoffs, no playoffs, division record, etc. will take care of itself in due time.

As far as the Texans should be concerned, they need to focus on aqua green and dreamsicle orange. That's all that matters right now.

Complaints of 'no respect' are diametrically opposed to the evidence presented in the NFL power rankings thread. We clearly are getting respect, and too much, IMO. Let's make the play-offs and then see if we're getting the appropriate amount of respect, because until then, we deserve none.

Actually I really enjoy the Mike and Mike show. I think they bring interesting takes on subject matter. Greeni definitely controls the show's tempo well. The Texans beat a Manning-less Colts team that was obviously disheartened by its own fate after the first two snaps of their offense.

All things considered, I think we've been given plenty of respect, especially after making so many "analysts" look like idiots over the years.

We haven't done squat in 10 years. We started off 1-0 last year as well and look how that ended up. I can't blame the talking heads for not giving the Texans respect. We need to earn it and it takes more than one game to do that.

Dude, what is up with the cartoon in your signature. It is freaking hilarious. Where did you get it from?

Agree.
Saints played poorly last week yet managed to claw back in high scoring game ,17 points in second half to within a TD and conversion to possibly tie.

If Texans win against Saints the stage is set to go all the way!

When I look at the AFC South this year, I'm not sure winning the division really gets us any respect. We could win the division hands down and still be viewed by national media in the same way that the Arizona Cardinals were viewed even after they went to the superbowl. and besides, as a fan the only respoect I really care about comes in the win/loss column. I want to see wins and what is at the very least a deep play-off run. I really want Houston to get a chance to hold that Lombardi Trophy as their own.

On the way in today I was thinking about teams that get played on National Television alot and I was remembering how just barely 10 years ago, New England would never be on TV because they were always considered a Check in the W Column for other teams. However, one year they put together a great run and won the Super Bowl which led to more Super Bowls and now they are on National Television almost every week.

Bottom line is you just have to win. No other way around it.

We really didn't do anything spectacular...those other returns were spectacular. Even the Wayne catch. The Ginn return a 99 yd TD...that deserves to be there.

I hate playing the Colts because it's almost a given that Reggie Wayne is going to have an amazing one-handed-while-falling-awkwardly-and-still-managing-to-stay-in-bounds catch in the endzone for a TD every game.

Agreed

...and repped for a new vocabulary term... "fudgy foo foo football talk".
you know there ought to be a smiley for that

Sterling Sharpe is still a dedicated Texans fan, although this
team seems to go out of its way to humiliate those who
cheer for it. Maybe 2011 will be different...

Respect is earned over time not given after 1 game. When we do something to earn respect then I'm sure it will be given.
