Special teams a factor at all?

Roster set at least for now. Other than Rackers will ST make a difference this season? WIll Marciano be able to perform magic and improve on last season's fiasco? Most of us agree that Wade's defense will not have to improve much to help team greatly. Can we say the same about the other part of this team?
I can see it getting better somewhat through the season but how much I am not sure. Seems to be a lot of young guys with little NFL experience on ST.

Have to agree. ST has looked terrible. I'm hoping Hartmann does kickoff duties and just blasts everything through the end zone. And we should just take all touchbacks given. And hopefully, we'll never have to punt.

I don't really think there's going to be many runbacks on kickoffs this year. They shouldn't have changed the kickoff yard-line. That's OK. We'll kick it into the endzone every time.

With our recent coverage track record, I wouldn't be surprised if teams will be willing to take things out of the EZ and take their chances on a big return.

I think ST could be less of a factor as long as we don't give up d's in record numbers on returns.... With the kickoff being the way it is most often we will just be kneeling it and as long as ja object can catch the ball on a punt we should be fine.... rackets has a great leg and is accurate so that should not ne a problem...

They better make a positive difference. Special Teams was an unsung killer on this team last year. Contributed heavily to our poor starts.

Here is what I have to say about the Texans ST this year:

1. What Special Teams?

2. Coaches: "Special Teams, we don't need no stinking Special Teams!!"

3. They take the Special out of _______ Teams........

Those are my thoughts until proven otherwise. Shout out to the Offense and Defense though, halla!

Against our Special Teams would you not run it out? I would.

Do our "Special Teams" ride on the short bus?? Kind of seems like maybe they should based on how they have played in pre-season.

No, as Kubiak said he gives Marciano back ups and rookies to work with and last season pulled several away from ST so he could use them. Our ST was sort of like the farm team that gets going and a player or two that we depend on is taken to play elsewhere.

Yeah there's too much flux from week to week to make real game plans. The rule does help us as at least now we start on the 20. I'm also wary of getting Manning injured on a return. I'd rather just have Slaton catch them in the EZ and down it.

Also, if JJ can return punts why not have him return kicks? Is it really that much different?
