Slow Starts on Offense

Does this trace to Kubiak's inability to adjust on the fly?

Kubiak scripts the first 15 plays. Perhaps he is sufficiently predictable that the opposing DC's can present fronts and coverages that confuse the offense, Schaub in particular. The comments from Eric Winston in the chronicle today made me think that perhaps this is the issue.

Can Kubiak ever be the guy to coach from the seat of his pants, to audible into plays based on what he is seeing in front of him, rather than stick to his script mindlessly, as we get behind in the first quarter?

Perhaps James Casey is the perfect anecdote to this problem. His presence adds a new wrinkle and forces the other team to see something new.

Hope we are over the slow starts. Don't think it has anything to do with scripted plays. Some of the best coaches in history have Used scripted starts. Kubiak better not jack this up or the chin will be our new coach next year.

Agreed. It's more about execution than the script. If Schaub is off or our WRs/TEs come out with a case of dropitis or the O-line gets a couple of holding calls... any of those things can kill a drive.

If we come out like a well-oiled machine with all parts functioning at peak level, we cannot be stopped.

Kubiak has said a number of times, especially in response to this crack pot theory that was brought up continually last season, that the scripted plays are flexible according to situation.

Why won't this bogeyman die? Next thing you know we're going to see a thread about our awful red zone offense.
