All Encompassing Final Waiver Wire Thread

ChampionTexan

Hall of Fame
Between now and tomorrow afternoon, all 32 NFL teams will be reducing their 80 man rosters to 53. That means that in the next 28 or 29 hours there will over 850 players who will be trimmed from someone's roster. A few of those will go to IR, and an even fewer number will go on the reserve PUP list, but the vast majority will be available to other teams.

We can use this thread to throw out the names of roster cuts that surprise and/or interest us.

While it's only a rumor (just like Colt McCoy getting cut a year ago was), the one potential cut that interests me the most right now is Brandon Tate with the Pats. If he is cut, I'd like to see the Texans take a chance on him.

I sure hope Rick Smith is watching that waiver wire for a NT, depth at DE, depth at ILB and OLB, and depth at OG/C. We have some decent backups at a few positions but we could sure use some better quality depth at alot of positions.

Off-topic... But is anyone else tired of going to nfl.com and seeing news start to load - and then all of a sudden it jumps to FANTASY FOOTBALL? It is getting on my damn nerves.

They've re-designed some things making it harder to navigate and find what you want.

The Patriots release Brandon Tate.

I'd really like to see him as a Texan. Probably a better option at the 5th WR spot than anyone currently on board. Makes any thoughts of Holliday irrelevant (although I hope there aren't any serious thoughts of Holliday to begin with), and is arguably a better kick return guy than Manning. I'm not one of those scared about Manning's health, but if you can find someone even better who may actually provide something as a receiver, why not do it?

This wouldn't break my heart but who do we cut to make room?

There's currently 7 CB's on the roster. I don't believe we'll actually have that many when the season starts. Roc Carmichael to the PS?
I'm not sure of all the rules but Roc is/was injured. Besides, he'd have to clear waivers.

That's for sure.

I am waiting for the Steelers to cut a punter... Maynard does not pass the ccdude730 test.

:spin:

Apparently they kept Sepulveda over Kapinos, but I would have done the same. Kapinos could be a good pickup. I believe he can handle kickoff duties as well

See post immediately above yours. They can always negotiate an injury settlement and release him - ala Jeremiah Johnson from a year ago.
Am I correct that he'd have to clear waivers? Being injured should help, but Roc is pretty OK prospect, do you wanna chance it?

I would love to see Kapinos on the Texans. That guy can really boom some kicks.

In addition to the injury, he's a fourth round draft choice who hasn't put a single play on tape since being drafted. I don't know the extent of his injury, so with that disclaimer, yeah - I'd take the chance that no team would cut someone already on their 53 man roster to add this guy, but fortunately for all of us, I'm not the one making those calls.

I agree

Cut Vickers or IR Carmichael as I dont think he would clear waivers.
I agree

Bengals picked up Tate.

And another confirmed waiver claim of a former Patriot. RT @ProFootballTalk: Bengals claim Brandon Tate on waivers.
-- Schefter.

4. Former Texans linebacker Xavier Adibi was claimed by the Vikings, according to his agent.

5. This wasn’t a waiver claim, but Zac Diles signed with the Bucs according to his agent. He was cut by St. Louis
