Capers Dream!!!

Can you imagine if the Texans got their #1 expansion pick a year before they did? Actually with Capers at the helm we probally would have taken LT, but since Vick was taken first thats what im going with. Imagine our offense with Vick as the QB... Capers would have an explosion in his pants. Our drives would look like this.

Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Run, Pass, Run, Run TD

Run, Run, Run, Punt

Run, Run , Run, ect...

We wouldnt even need WRs! We could just fill our rosters with linebackers and tight ends that can only block or catch. :jk:
 
The michael vick experience would have included a cart ride off the field on a stretcher if we drafted him.

His OL isnt much better than ours at pass protection. The reason he has time in the pocket is because the DLinemen dont really rush him, they stay in their lanes to keep him from running.

YEA BUM used to say that to towards the end when he wouldn't open up the offense. But did you ever think "3 things can happen when you run and two of 'em are bad????? :brickwall

I can think of two things "bad" when you run, run, run.
Earl Cambell's knees. Just didn't hold up running 35/40 times a game.

You know I was thinking if we had drafted Vick the year before, do you think we would have drafted Julius Peppers the year we drafted Carr?

No. I believe Casserly or Capers said that Peppers didn't fit in the 3-4 system. Not 100% sure about that though.
 
Take it from the browns, coming into the league one year early can cripple a franchise. Had the browns came into the league in 2000 like it was planned, they would have landed Vick. But I'd imagine he'd be horrible with an expansion team.

"We played the field position battle today, and when we pinned them down at the 1 with less than a minute to go, we had them right where we wanted them" said Capers. GM Charlie Casserly said this is right in line wtih the Texans philosophy. "We kept it close in the 4th quarter just like Dom loves. We just wanted to give ourselves a chance to win at the end. That was our strategy today, and it paid off". The minus 55 total yards was acheived by running 43 "kneel Down" plays, whereby "great prospect" David Carr would take the snap, and immediately kneel. "We wanted to avoid turnovers" snapped Coach Capers when pressed about his tactics at his weekly press conference. When Casserly was asked if this mode of attack was too predictable, he stated "all teams are predictable, it's a matter of stopping them. Not once did the defense stop us today. I think we have a formula that we can win with." When it was pointed out that was because Carr kneeled before he could be touched, Casserly retorted "you'll have to ask the coaches about that one now". The -55 yards of offense breaks the previous 20 poorest offensive ouputs, all of which are held by the Houston Texans under Dom Capers.

Sadly, the most unrealistic thing about this scenario is us actually getting a safety.
 
for those dreaming about Michael Vick, he specifically came out a year early so he wouldn't play for the Texans in 2002, their expansion year.

that isn't speculation either, it is fact. He has said so himself.
 
Vick came out because he would be a top 3 pick. Why stay in college and risk getting injured when you're virtually guaranteed a top 3 pick and the millions that go with it. Vick may say all he wants to say, but he came out because that was his best opportunity in life and he was right to do it. Some recent prospects have stayed like Roy Williams and Matt Leinart, but they're lucky they didn't get hurt and Leinart isn't even done yet, so you never know with him. But when it comes down to it, you enter the draft when your value is at its highest. That's the smart thing to do.
 
How about having the first two picks in 2002

SS Ed Reed
Can you imagine Julius Peppers and Dwight Freeney playing OLB for the TEXANS how awesome would that have been. :pigfly:

yeah, he went for the riches, atxcoolguy. But does anyone think that another year of playing as QB for Virginia Tech would have been a bad thing for Vick? I don't. It wasn't a secret that he really went a year early to avoid being drafted by the Texans.

found this other comment a little funny, given that it doesn't even mention David Carr as a prospect.

Losing out on Vick and Henson hurts, but the Texans can take solace in knowing that the 2002 draft could be loaded with quarterbacks. Depending on which underclassmen enter the draft, as many as five quarterbacks could be taken in the first round.

They are Joe Harrington of Oregon, USC's Carson Palmer, Ken Dorsey of Miami, David Neill of Nevada, Kurt Kittner of Illinois, Chris Simms of Texas and Jason Thomas of UNLV -- a bigger, stronger version of Vick with potentially a stronger arm.

Yes, yes I am joking. I still believe that Carr will be a competent starter in this league - which is actually better than most 1st round QBs manage. Whether his confidence is shot to the point that he can never do it here is currently an open question. I'm inclined to think he can bounce back. Count me in the pro-Carr camp. Of course I wish we had Carson Palmer instead, because he looks clearly the best quarterback of his generation, but 1. That option was never open and 2. If Carr was in Cincy and we had Palmer, who knows if we wouldn't all be wishing we had Carr. Anyone would have struggled in his place.
 
lol. The fact is we have the team we have and instead of looking at what we could have had we need to look at what to do to improve what we have!
