Texans account for all points.

I really expected a lop sided score but did not think we'd account for all points. I had a pool side party with about 7 of us hanging around to watch the game. We could not really see much to be done on the INT of Matt's first play. It was just a bad play that happens. More concerned that it seemed to take Schaub a while to shake it off as he was high on several passes after. I think Leinert looked much better this game while TJ just seemed to play safe; a complete reversal as I saw the two back ups last week.

Lots of slop that should be cleaned up as we go forward.

Kubiak called that play a busted protection.

I agree with him. Winston has to go out and get that guy when he sees he's not coming.

I heard what Kubes said but doubt Winston could have gotten to him tht quickly to do much good. Not trying to make excuses just the way all of us saw it. WOuld like to see it again in slo mo.

Still.... we had three turnovers. Penalties. There's work to do.
but I like where we are. It's good to just need touching up instead of a complete makeover

That's what I commented about immediately after that play. Winston was waiting right next to Schaub and a mile off the man he should have actively engaged......and then just stood there watching the rest of the play.

Both O & D seem to be improving weekly which is good. Both can end up being scarey good which is outstanding. I want to see more of Brandon Harris and don't know why not on field more?

This is going to be a really fun season.

The texans are in a zone that I have seen before. They actually know that whoever they step on the field with they can whip. They are operating like a machine right now, and if they get off to a good start the momentum is just going to build.

They are ready. Finally.

Saw that too while the play was happening, I was yelling WTF?! at the TV and scared the dog, lol.

I thought WInston turned to left and not to right. LB did not threaten Schaub and that seemed why Eric ignored him. THis was all bam bam for me with minimal look see for eval. Appreciate everyones two cents.

On screens/ draws or any play where you are selling the pass you are taught to do a three count and if the defender doesn't rush up field then you are supposed to go after them.

Winston never moved. He should have went after the defender especially when he saw him stop rushing.

Jmo.

I don't think Winston was even looking at the LB but certainly could be wrong. When ball snapped he seemed to not be lookng at where ball was supposed to go. I think he thought ball was out of Matt's hands by three count. Not wanting to badger this but just saying what I thought happened. I put blame on Schaub but was not angry or anything.

That play wasn't Winston's fault as much as it was a damn good play by the LB not to get sucked in. It was a screen play, Winston wasn't suppose to fire off but let the LB come through, the LB didn't bite and made a very athletic play...

Matt never saw him becasue the LB was never suppose to be there, that is why the defensive players get paid as well...

All in all it was a good game, Casey needs to stop holding though...

was it a screen play or was it a checkdown? it looked like a screen play to me but couldn't tell.

and someone should slap gary kubiak and tell him we should be a run first team. we have arian freaking foster. no need to pass it on the first play of the game every time.

Think it was a screen.

Problem as I saw it was that Schaub indicated what he was going to do and threw the ball with lettle or no arc right in the hands of a stationary defensive player. Winston might have messed up his assignment, but Matt threw that ball directly to the D-player. Bad play from Matt.

busted screen. simple play with a blocking mess as kubiak described it. as i understand it, winston was supposed to pull his assignment outside for the interior linemen to release into space with foster in the flat. since winston's man didnt follow, it was his job to chop (cut, dive, whatever) his guy to give schaub the lane. instead winston was a lost roadblock hiding his man between schaub and foster. obviously schaub should've seen the defender (or maybe he didnt), but i'm sure he didnt expect his most important lineman to be a spectator in that play.

the reason for our success on offense is because we can do anything at any time. we have a mobile offensive line capable of doing exceptional damage with screen plays which help open up the run game. had the pass gotten through, foster had no less than 20 yards of daylight and a free pass for a 10 yard carry later on in that formation.

In my estimation, that INT is partially on Schaub but mostly a smart play by the LB. Winston backpedaled into fake pass protect and he actually engaged the LB for a sec (and perhaps Winston could have taken the LB off his feet at this pt - who knows). Schaub was supposed to sell the play by looking downfield as if to pass. But he looked over to find Arian Foster too soon. The LB backed out of his pass rush mode when he saw Schaub look for Foster. Schaub either didn't see the LB stop rushing or didn't think the guy could jump like that. Foster was so close that if Schaub had throw it much higher, Foster wouldn't have had much of a shot to catch it.

The more I think about it, the more I think it was just a real good read by the LB.

I agree. You gotta give kudo's to the LB on that one. Very nice play.

Anyone can do that jb.

That's like waiting until a woman takes her pants off before you know she's ready to get it on.
