Pryor to the Raiders

mainphpg2_viewcore.gif

Edit: wrong one. RAIDER FAIL!

Should have been a 5th round choice. Hell, maybe a 6th. Raiders are crazy...

The Raiders will get a 3rd in this year's draft due to losing players like Aso & Miller. It's no big surprise, I'm pretty sure everyone knew he'd be a Raider after running a 4.38. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I'd like to see what Hue can do with Pryor. If anything, he could become a decent #2 QB and we can draft a future #1. Or if that fails, he does have the build of a WR...maybe we can turn him into a decent one.

Someone please explain to me why Pryor will be suspended for the first 5 ganes this seaaon?

It was the carrot given to allow him in the draft. The supplemental draft is for people kicked out of school or who graduate, Pryor quite school..

I personally think it is awesome, an NCAA player facing NFL sanctions. I'm sure it will be appealed and Pryor will win, but I like the move.

It's always about the 40 for Al.

What a reach.

I'm not sure if its as big of a reach as some of you guys make it out to be. We will almost surely get a 3rd back because of losing Aso alone, and then maybe another 3rd from losing Zach Miller.

Based on the rookie scale used to sign picks from April's draft, Pryor would be expected to get a four-year deal at $2.36 million, including a $591,000 signing bonus.

A Raiders source told ESPN.com's John Clayton that the team is looking at Pryor more as receiver than a quarterback at the NFL level.

I think taking Pryor with our 3rd is well worth the risk, but then again, I may be slightly biased.

Somebody has a hard-on for black QBs who like to run.

Geez, is this ALL the Raiders are going to do: Make reaches for black QBs who are woefully lacking in the area of everything related to being a QB in the NFL?

Amazing. Simply amazing. Everybody on the planet had this guy going to the Raiders. Am I right? Yes, I am.

What does that have to do with Pryor and this pick? And how did I mess up that quote?

Well directly, it has nothing to do with Pryor. But we have the potential to get up to two 3rd round picks back, so the 3rd we used on Pryor won't be missed as much if Pryor does fail 2-3 years down the road. Also, I hate how some sites are reporting the Raiders are without a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the upcoming draft. I believe the 4th round pick was conditional on if we made the playoffs and if Jason Campbell made the Pro Bowl this year... I doubt either will happen.

The Raiders have made some idiotic moves these past few years, I don't think this one is that bad. I guess we'll find out in a few years time how good/bad this move was, until then, I just want to get this season done and over with. :gun:

Guy is all athleticism and no skill. For a 3rd round pick. Of course it's to the Raiders.

And yeah, Goodell is a moron, he should've just said N-O, NO, put some stank on it and left it there. You can apply for the next draft when the next draft comes around. How's that for a punishment you can't outrun? NCAA don't want you, OSU don't want you, NFL don't want you. You wanna play football so bad and let it mean more than ink? Go play for Canada punkass.

Even the Lions stopped drafting WRs with their 1st round pick at some point.

Started going heavy on defense, grabbed a QB too, and WHAM! they're actually decent again.

You're a Raiders fan, and I am not slamming YOUR fan status or your team. It's just that your owner is clearly holding your team back. Sincere question here: Do you think the Raiders will turn it around once Al is gone, and how long before Al is "gone" in your opinion?

Who owns the team once he is gone? And what will happen to the team and its direction when the new person takes ownership? A good thing? A scary thing? Just have so many questions about the Raiders these past 2 or 3 years as I watch them go after the same type of player over and over.

Man, this Pryor guy has stank all over him.

Guys like him are doomed to fail in the NFL because they know damn well that they don't deserve the HONOR of playing in the NFL. So they always look over their shoulder, always play like they got more to lose than to gain.

Maurice Clarette. Laurence Phillips. Both guys are RBs who were P.O.S. and failed royally in the NFL.

Gonna' be the same ending for Pryor. What goes around, comes around.

Yes, the Raiders will definitely turn things around once Al steps down and hires a GM (which isn't likely)...or dies (which isn't all that likely either :fingergun:). Last season I honestly thought things were taking a turn for the better, the players were playing hard and we were a few stupid mistakes away from winning our division. This season I am nowhere near as confident, I knew Nnamdi was gone but losing Miller is a huge blow to our offense. Having another new HC (although I am confident in Hue) is just another self-imposed setback in typical Raider/Al fashion.

I am pretty sure once Al is gone, his son will have control over the team. Al's son has already stated he knows next to nothing about football and will hire a GM once he's in charge. I wouldn't be surprised if he sells the team either. If LA doesn't have a team by the time Al's son takes over ownership groups will certainly try to buy the team.

I really could care less who ends up buying the team or where its located (as long as its in CA). I honestly believe we have some great talent, you could see glimpses of a legit NFL team last season. With another solid draft the Raiders can be a very good team. But it seems like every step the Raiders organization takes in the right direction, Al steps in and takes two steps in the opposite direction. I just hope when the time comes for new ownership, they'll be able to put the pieces in place to run the team like a "normal" NFL franchise...and not a circus sideshow like its run now.

Thank you for taking the time to post all of that. I read every bit of it.

It feels like the timing could be right to sweep this team out from Al Davis, maybe via the old "Power of Attorney" tactic???

Not sure if it could get pulled off, nor if a family member would even dare to try it. Still, with L.A. looking to build a brand new stadium, and with the son being willing to explore selling the team, it could be a recipe for some sort of movement in that direction.

I just think it's a shame that a historic NFL team such as the Raiders, which is an iconic NFL team (obviously), is destined to suffer under the murky leadership of Al Davis. It seems "wrong" even if a lot of people say that the Black Hole fans are getting their reward for being arguably the most vile fans in the league. No offense there, just saying that some people might feel that the Raiders are getting what they deserve and those same people would want to hold you guys in jail for eternity rather than see you gain traction again and improve the team's standing in the league. Hope that makes sense!

Honestly I like the move for them.

Took him a couple rounds too early, but I like the potential Pryor has as a player in general.

The only way Pryor sticks in the NFL is if he moves to WR. I think he would be very useful as a red zone specialist. With his size and athleticism he is a back shoulder fade route waiting to happen.

RICHARD PRYOR is playing for the RAIDERS?! Wow. He's been dead for a while, but I'm sure he'll do a better job than their last QB.

My comment is directed at Pryor's ability to be an NFl QB not on his cheap contract or how many draft picks you get because of lost players. *Note, I do not mean this to be as harsh as it sounded when I re-read my post. Just saying I am focusing on Pryor's ability only.

He would have been of interest to Davis as Richard did a skit on how fast he ran out of his burning home after he set himself on fire free basing.
