Texans Saints GAMEDAY THREAD

HELL YA,,TIME TO PLAY SOME FOOTBALL..What is the blue Crew having to eat today?are we doing a theme?........EELLL

Somebody needs to get Schaub about 5 Monster drinks to get him started before the game.

Or someone needs to make sure he brings his game at the start instead of leaving it in the locker room and retrieving it at half time.

Here is what I will be watching/hoping:

1. The Mario transition to OLB. I would love to see a sack, but if he puts pressure that leads to incomplete passes, that will be fine.

2. J Jo will be in the game. I want to see how the DB group looks with a legitimate CB and legit Safety.

3. I want to see if Ben Tate can contribute meaningful snaps. I would love to see Foster's carries slashed in half this season and evenly distributed between Ward and Foster.

4. I want to see the newbies make an impact: ie. Watt, Jean, Reed, etc.

5. I want to see the Texans march down the field on Offense and play stout D.

Don't forget Cush's "rubber season" starts today. Will we have the rookie or sophmore version this year?

I'm thinking a 'practice quarter' before the real game, that should get em' started! :)

Colston, who was held back last week has been released to go tonight. He's coming off of microfracture knee surgery so I don't know what to expect from him.

I want to see the first-team offense come out and look like they aren't the ones learning a new system. Perhaps we need to start Schaub in a no-huddle offense?

As for defense... Will Watt look as comfortable as he did against the Jets? Will our D-Line manage to avoid the GAPING holes (when the 1s were on the field) in the middle of the line? Will a REAL NT please stand up?

I'm tired of talking about this team's 'potential'. It's time to start enforcing our will on the other team.

I hope DE Will Smith plays significant reps to test out how good Schaub's protection is. I don't know how much he plays since he will probably be banned from the first 4 games of the season (StarCaps).

As of yesterday, Kubiak put Joseph's chances of playing tonight at 50-50. Hopefully he's healthy enough to play, but if he needs an extra week, let's hope they let him have it.

You dipsticks better be fixing some good GAME FOOD tonight.

You owe it to yourselves. You went through lockout hell. We all did. So get creative and fix something GOOD for goodness sake.

I better not hear of anybody eating a Totino's pizza or a frickin' El Patio tv dinner or some crappy turkey and mayo sandwich.

I'm doing RIBS tonight. Homemade ribs and some beans. And beer. Photo to be posted, as usual. I just need a name for the ribs. Last week, I had "High WATTage Jalapeno Shrimp poppers."

I need a clever name for my ribs.

We have a big fish fry going on here! You name it we have it! Crab, lobster, catfish, salmon, trout, and pretty much anything else you can think of! I am pretty sure they are having a big cookout down the street, too. :texanbill:

Still on a diet: Light Caesar Salad, Grilled Chicken, 2 bottles of water, and clementine oranges.

Got Aints fans on the radio saying they are gonna own Reliant tonight and drown out Texans fans....:ok:

I wish they would all take their asses back to NOLA, and STFU.

Yeah, football is no excuse to start getting fat!:kitten::kingkong::chef::gun::hides:

I need to get back into shape. Had a visit to the doctor last week and the ol Triglycerides, HDL, and cholesterol were high. He wanted me to consider some medications. I convinced him to give me a shot to change my diet and exercise habits first. I have another appointment with him in 2 months. If I can show improvement, then I get more time to impliment my plan. If not, I will need to start taking the medication.

Let them drown out Reliant. Over a PRESEASON game.

Cool story losers.

Saints fans are really, really irritating.

It's weird...been a while since i've been this hype about a pre-season game. Can't freaking wait!

Whats up stranger? I know what you mean this pre season seems a lil more exciting than the past few.

Obviously want to win in week 3 more than here, but it would be nice to have both. Otherwise, I gotta deal with the Saints fans everywhere I go. :toropalm:

These guys down here look at me like I'm stupid when I remind them that the last time we played in the regular season, Texans won and effective crushed their playoff hopes that year. Granted, it was in 2007, but they act like that game never happened.

Saints will be bringing it -- I'll be watching how the protection holds up.

See if Mario looks like he's getting it, yet.

Especially interested in the new DBs.

And anybody named La-Star Jean has got to be who dat dare is beatin' dem Saints! :texans:

I'm not sure Gregg Williams will be opening his play book up that much. After all the Texans play them again in about 6 weeks.

Last week I think Williams was pissed he didn't get the SF job and took it out on them. I hope I am wrong about that. If true, it would seem that Williams was being childish.

That's the first I'm hearing of this. It seems the local reporters here speculated all off-season about Gregg William's head coaching potential. Denver reportedly contacted the Saints about Gregg as their next head coach and he turned it down supposedly turned it down because he wanted to go to a place that had a stable quarterback situation. If Denver wasn't good enough for him in that department, I can't imagine why he would have wanted to go to San Francisco.

Plus, there's still all kinds of rumors about Sean Payton heading back to Dallas to take an office job, possibly GM, when his tenure with the Saints is up in two years. Heck, if the Saints win a Superbowl this year, Payton may just retire so he and his family can go back to Dallas where they were most happy. This would essentially hand Gregg Williams the Saints head coaching job that many head coaches would beg to have, which is another belief of why Gregg turned the Broncos job down.

Like I said I could be wrong. If he wants to blitz that much in preseason, that is fine by me. The more of his blitzes on film against the Texans offense the better. Just helps Kubes and Co. game plan for them in 6 weeks.

I'm liking the reports on the dinner menu out there.

Thorn, you're going to get cut from the team if you keep doggin' it by ordering pizza. Unlike Kubiak, I show no loyalty towards any of you. :watchingyou:

I know its preseason, but should I be wearing white or blue today? I got last minute tickets.

Thanks in advance.

Texans inactives for tonight's game: Holliday, P.Williams, Slaton, Joseph, Ward, Baker, Weeks, Alexander, Ozougwu, Ryans, Caldwell...

good

My dad just called (He's on his way to minute maid to watch that Lastros) and he said he's seeing a shitload of cars with Saints' flags. :gun: Maybe when they all travel back to their home state for the regular season game, we can close the border. :)

HoustonTexans Houston Texans
Studdard, Marcorelle, Bulman, D.Lewis also inactive. Adibi will start for Ryans, Allen for Joseph

I'm not liking how our prized FA has never been able to stay healthy throughout his career and now he's already nursing a injury and missing time. I hope we don't have to deal with this all season.

its a groin strain.. he prob could & would play with it if it was reg season. i like that we're letting him rest it though. its only PS & he has very little to prove. the longer he rests it, the less chance of re-occurence
