Asking price for Asante Samuel is a pair of 2's

Wouldn't most teams have to send back contracts in return?

I think the bucs might be a good fit for him.

I would give them KJ and a 3rd.

Contracts would have to be restructured again.

But wouldn't it be nice to have 2 pro bowl caliber CB's. Instead of the crap we saw at CB last yr? I'm still not trusting the CB2 position.

I would say if I were Kubiak and Smith I would do it. If no playoffs this year they are gone...future be damned ,time to win now.

I imagine we probably have something on the roster they could use so I doubt the pair of 2's is carved in stone. It's an asking price and we all know that asking isn't necessarily getting.

OR really close to what the Texans paid for their starting QB. At that price, no thanks. I'd go this year's 2nd and 4th. I doubt the Eagles want anything to do with KJ at this point, but then again who knows.

I would offer a 2 and a pick that could be anywhere from a 4 to a 2 the year after. We add him, our CB's become a real strength

They won't give him up for 2 2nds, however if I were the Texans I would do that deal and figure out the contract after.

If we were to trade for him, we would need to send a CB in return with the 2nd. We have too many as it is, and it would help open some cap space. KJ would be great because he's getting about ~4 million a year.

How about a 2nd rounder in 2012 and the other 2nd rounder when he helps us win the Super Bowl or gets 12 INTs in one season?
....whichever comes first.
:D

He isn't making that much. He signed a 5 year $10.35 mil deal with the possibility of another $3 mil in incentives.

Michael Silver of Yahoo Sports the Eagles says he has learned that the Eagles have been shopping Pro Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel for two-second round picks but no teams have agreed to the deal.

Matt and Adam were discussing this today on 790. I agree with Matt in that we have dog crap for CB#2, and we need a serious upgrade there.

Samuel is 29 and one of the top turnover machines at CB in the league. With Joseph and Samuel, you have to feel really good about your corner situation.

Seems to me if you want to make a push into the playoffs, you don't want Allen or Kjax as your #2. They both are horrible. That's the most glaring weakness on the team. I say if you can - you fill it.

Two number 2 picks for someone that will probably play pretty good for another four or five years? Nope. I'm still not convinced that CB is the only problem left on the defense, and that's just to much to give up IMO.

2 seconds? I don't know, that's awfully steep. We've already went two drafts recently w/o second round picks with the Schaub deal. Not that I think that was a bad deal, just seems too soon to be gambling away high picks. Especially when we're starting all over again with a new D.

I would do a 2nd and a conditional pick that could become a second. If you give up the other two, you had a good season. Would give us a dynamic secondary.

I'd go with this. Should be a 2 and a 4 that can fairly easily become a 3 and if he lights it up and helps us into the playoffs turns into a 2.

I posted some of the following on another thread as I really like Asante. He will earn $5.9m and is under contract thru 2013.

He is 30 not 29 and coming off 7 INTs

Our seconds will be late in the round & I would give up 2012 & 2013 for a starter at a weak position.
Cap of $1m under now + $3m cash benefit allowing teamt to go to $123m. + $3m borrowed from a future cap pretty much resolves this issue without a cut or player trade which could happen.

Agreed. If we nabbed him we are an easy division winner, IMO. Not trying to be overly cocky, but its the way I see it. Jax will be closer than most think, but lack of quality QB play will cost them.

Think what we could do in next draft if Manning/Quin and Joseph/Samuel were on the roster. Of course we would pick later than 25 but it would be best player available & could prob allow us to look at the Oline a bit.

You guys do realize thats a "I doubt anyone pays this, but lets just see if we can get it" type asking price right?

No way he goes for 2 2's. My guess is he stays in Philly, OR the trade will for far less.
