No matter how bad they were... Sacks, dropped balls, torched DB's, fired coaches, confusing draft choices-- take your pick. My sundays are better than they were when we didnt have a team. I know football, I get frustrated, I am realistic, but ITS STILL BETTER.

We do have a team, just not a productive one right now! Time will change and so will the Texans.

I will be tailgating before their games, I will be sitting in 119C yelling like crazy coming home hoarse, and venting when they do bad and raving when they do good!

Going through these losing seasons will only make winning much more enjoyable. I can't wait for the bengal game. I think this team will still get it together. I think orr will be great in place of babin and faggins is certainly an upgrade at cb. These changes were necessary, and now if we can get armstrong in the game more than bradford, we will win some games. Win in cincy, home win against the titans, and were 2-2. Win at seatle 3-2, then indy comes to town for battle red day. I'm not giving up on the season just yet, but is all starts with the bengal game and it's winnable!

As a bengal's fan for all of my 25 years on earth I only have been alive for some 10 winning years (9 excluding the strike year) and the sad thing is i dont remember them that well. But i will tell you a few bad years make's success sooo much better. not trying to rub anything in but this year its been so nice to look forward to sunday (not dread it) stick with your team things will turn around if it can in cincy it can anywhere

Great posts and perspectives.

'America's Team' has only 1 winning season in 8 years and their fans are civil. The Oilers/Titans have never won a championship in 4 decades of trying. Why are our fans jumping out of windows after the first 3 losing seasons? If you can't get some realistic expectations, at least show some class at the games.

That isn't a true statement. Their record isn't very good over that period but it isn't as bad as you made it out to be either. Their team at least has hope with Parcells. They had a really good draft last April also and were aggressive in free agency. Plus with 5 superbowl rings their fans can afford to be civil.

I can explain that in two ways:
1. The advent of the internet has created an enviornment where people ***** and complain. if you think about it, there are two types of websites, sites dedicated to things people like and sites dedicated to things people do not like. There are more sites that are crated about things people do not like.

2. The advent of FA has caused there to be parity situation where a team can make great strides in a short amount of time. As the Patriots have shown, as long as the core remains intact, people can be added in to suppliment the team. While you can say that The Patriots wins nullify the parity argument, think about this. The Pats faced three different NFC opponents: St Louis, Carolina, and Philly.

These are the reasons the fans are overreacting now. If there was no message boards, it would not be as compacted and thus people would not be seeing it. Without FA the onus to building a team quickly is not there.

Regarding "America's Team"...other than Parcells, there is nothing about that organization that I would want to see us emulate including their fans.

And please don't lecture us on not being good fans because we are ticked off with this team...some of us are the same fans that pulled our guts out for the Oilers, and then the Titans when we did not have a team and now this team. IMO, the big issue is not that we are losing games...but how we are losing them...that we are not even competitive at this point and that somehow although the NFL is designed to promote "parody" we have managed (or mismanaged) this team to defy that and put us in the same group with Cleavland, Detroit and San Francisco. At this point, IMO we will be lucky to go .500 with Fisher's Titans (and they are reloading this year).

And btw, the expectations for this team were set by the management of it (playoff contender this year) not the poor Texans "unrealistic fans". The only part you got right was that we all now know what we really have this year for a team and therefore my expectations are for us to win 3-5 games and have a very high draft choice next year.

Hey "Huge", let's put it this way...the command for my dog to relieve himself is "Dallas". Good luck with your team this year...as I said before, you do have a great head coach so I'm sure he will give you more to cheer about than our current one will give us.

I totally agree. As much as the Texans have frusterated me during the draft and the early part of this season, a bad team is better than no team. I just have to keep thinking to myself "I cant wait for this team to turn it all around and start winning".

I have to put my agreement with this one. I will always and forever love the Texans.

Hey I am as happy as anyone that we have a team. I'd rather piss and moan about the Houston Texans then root for the cowboys.

However let me offer some insight as to why we may be overreacting a tad. We had a team. A good team. A team that went to the playoffs for seven straight years and won some divisions that we inevitably let move to tennepee cause ---A) we listened to our sportwritters in how we dont need to build a new stadium, there is nothing wrong with the dome, its fine ( oh and dont forget, bud would never move, remember jacksonville) b) listened to drayton on how there is nothing wrong with the dome- only for bud to move and then for drayton to threaten to move the astros if we didnt build him a stadium cause he wasent making any money in the dome. so in effect the oilers moving has cost 1.3 billion in two stadiums and franchise fee's (thats one dollar for every brick in the great wall of china with change to spare) plus dont get me started on the higher taxes. anyone try to rent a car lately?

so we gave up a good established team rich in 35 years of history, higher taxes, and footing half the bill for two stadiums, so we can get a team that plays, at there very very best, mediocre, $45.00(not including handling fee's) for nose bleed seats and the $8.00 parking at shoney's cause you dont have the $15.00 blue lot parking pass.

so please excuse the impatience. I am not ready to jump out of the window but I am ready to redecorate the office.

oh and lets get one thing straight, they have only been the tampons for nine years so dont get the first 35 years of their existance muddied by includding the stump jumpers on the other side of the ole miss. Its easy to be a fan when your brand new team goes to the super bowl in their first year in the new stadium and only missing the playoffs twice in nine years.

but hey being 16-24 in three years is so much better.

Good post.
We want the Texans to do so well. And, then people get very impatient. Yes, I'm a little disappointed at their start. Things are not looking too bright.
But, let's be positive. During the off season there were alot of predictions of having a 10 - 6 season.
Well, we have only lost the first two of the six losses that we were prediciting! :ok:
So, now we gotta win a few to keep this thing going. I'm like alot of you. I'm very happy that we have a team at all. We just want them to win every time out. Guess what? It ain't gonna happen.
As for the team in Tennessee....they can stay there. I was a "love ya Blue" fanatic. But that was a long time ago. Let go and enjoy the present. :texflag:

and the $8.00 parking at shoney's cause you dont have the $15.00 blue lot parking pass

They're $25 this year, if I am informed correctly. Just wanted to add some fuel to your fire :bomb:

Things are not going to happen quickly enough this year - they never do. But the team is "redecorating the office", as you put it, so we'll see. It is still better to complain about the Texans than skip football season altogether, as I did during the NFL's exile of Houston.

I'd rather piss and moan about the Houston Texans then root for the cowboys.
Even when we didn't have a team here :(, I didn't root for the Cowboys, and I never will root for them. Call me a hater if you want, I don't care. The Eagles are my team in the NFC.

some of us are the same fans that pulled our guts out for the Oilers
That's why I really want to see this team do well, because I was so used to seeing the Oilers winning a bunch of games for most of the years I was watching them. I try not to have expectations that are too high, but it happens.

Why are our fans jumping out of windows after the first 3 losing seasons?
There was way too much frustration and aggravation :brickwall being an Oilers fan. I think a lot of people had their fill, and are now at the point where, because of what they remember, it doesn't take much to get them pissed off or angry about their team. That's why some complain so much and some go overboard.

What are we supposed to say? Yippie, we're 0-2 and most likely about to be 0-3!!! We rock! Nobody can stop us now!

Not entirely true. The Oilers won AFL Championships their first two years of existence.
