This is the second season of the Texans Talk Survivor game! This is a fantasy game that everyone can play. There is no limit to how many people can play, so everyone who has a Yahoo account should join this group! If you don't have a Yahoo account, make one! Prove your football prowess around this board by winning it all, or show your incompetence by picking the Bills, Broncos and Panthers for the first 3 weeks! :D

It's easy to play, all you have to do is pick one team that will win its matchup each week. No spreads are used, only total points, the catch is that you can't pick the same team twice throughout the year. This league is triple elimination, which means after 3 wrong picks and you are out.

The winner or winners will have bragging rights over the next year. Feel free to amend your signature and give yourself a virtual trophy if you win it all!

You have exactly 1 week and 3 days to join this league before you get a strike on your record! We already have about 30 board members in on the action, so join up for fun times and some smack talk!

I made my pick and I look to be the sleeper for this season of Survivor..... Who wants to know who I picked? :barman:

The Browns? That's who I picked for week 1. I hope they get a wild card spot this year, but I dont' think they will be able to beat the Steelers for the division.

A good pick, IMO. I'm actually saving the Texans for a rainy day, an inconceivable strategy in years past.

(pardon the pun, rain is a thing of the past) :tiphat:

Weird analogy but I'm doing the same thing. Both the Carolina & Cincinnati game look like a safer bet & are later in the year.

Really? "Save it for a rainy day?" (in this case a rainy day being 2 strikes and no teams left playing a lesser opponent) Hmmm. I'm getting old. :D

Ok, I guess I plan on Houston winning when I pick them. It can't be a 'rainy day' if they win, right?

Always great if they win. I'd take 3 strikes right now in exchange for Houston getting to a 3-0 start.

I like the save the best teams as long as possible as we all do and this year for the first time Houston is one of those teams I don't want to use too early in the season.

Yeah, no kidding. Saving Pittsburgh for week 16 was the best decision I made in survivor last year. They won while everyone else still alive in the league ended up with a strike that week.

Cincinnati & Buffalo winning just got 20 of us strikes. For the 2nd year in a row I start the survivor league with a strike.

That`s why I picked the only sure thing: the Texans ;-).

On another note: I feel stupid for not starting Steve Smith (Car) in my fantasy league...

Haha.. exactly... who could feel better off trusting the Browns and Chiefs going into this season... Those of you that picked the Cardinals and their were many.. dodged a bullet chumps:choke:

It wasn't trusting the Chiefs or Browns more. It was wanting to save the Texans for later. They still have the Panthers, Bengals, Browns & Raiders on the schedule. :kitten:

Yeah, but those teams were playing teams more or less on there level... not worth the risk to save the Texans in the best week to pick them... There are far more teams to choose and save for later.... Especially in week 1 when there is a huge unknown on how good teams like those will be.. ie the Bills

I went with the Cardinals, but they were actually my 4th choice; I wanted to go with the Browns or Chiefs but I kept changing my mind. I thought of going with the Buccaneers but Detroit's on the rise, so I held off. I just hoped for the best with Arizona, so I can't complain. The Chiefs must be giving everybody 2nd thoughts right now.

I had the 9ers picked but I took the Browns due to Alex Smith. Ugh....I think I must have some self-imposed lockout karma hitting back. The friggin' skidmarks. I must be a glutton for punishment.

I had 2nd thoughts the entire preseason about the Chiefs. It was the reason I was hesitant to pick them this week. I didn't see them losing 41-7 to the Bills, though.

:fingergun: I'm not a fan of "saving" teams for later. The goal is to survivor the current week so you live to fight the next. Hard to use the Patriots and Ravens when you're out by week 3 because you thought the Browns and Chiefs could get you by. Then again, this is triple elimination, soooo....

That's good advice and I tend to agree, but if you go far at all in this league you will have to be picking teams like Cleveland down the road. Looking at Cleveland's schedule the weakest team on it looked to be Cincinnati (possibly Seattle?). At home, and facing a team thought to be one of the worst who is starting a rookie QB, I took my chance with Cleveland. It didn't work out but any given Sunday, right? If you look at 'pick distribution' for survivor games the #2 & #4 highest picks both got beat this week & the #1 could have very easily.

While Cleveland's schedule seems hard later on, there are only 17 teams you'll need to be picking in this thing assuming it's for regular season only. That means you have 15 teams you won't ever touch. Cleveland will probably be one of them for me. Plus who knows what can happen later in the season to affect matches? Imagine saving the Packers because they have a seemingly easy matchup in week 11 against the Bucs at Green Bay...only to have Rodgers go down in week 10. :kubepalm:

Then again, who am I? lol. These things are so up to chance it's crazy. Honestly, I didn't expect Cleveland to lose that game either. I had them picked in a straight pick'ems pool, but how 'bout dem Bengals. :ahhaha: Like you said, any given Sunday.

yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Bengals rookie qb, rookie wr, and losing key players such as Carson Palmer, Joseph and Chad Johnson....eh, leave it to the Browns to lose here.

Wow. I think over half the users lost with the Browns and Chiefs. Including myself...(Browns)

This week I need a 100% guaranteed win. I finished top 2 in the last 2 years doing this on this message board. Gotta get back in the game!
