Texans re-sign Damione Lewis

Should read "Re-sign Damione Lewis", as he was picked up as a street free agent last season.

It also looks like we signed Brandon Harris. Just saw it on twitter!

Either that or he means he is just now getting to Houston, haha!

The Damoine Lewis deal is all about depth for Texans. I'm almost certain that signing is the nail in the coffin for Okoye's Texans career

Well, bye bye Okoye.

Mike

Lewis will be nothing but cannon fodder. Besides he is as old as Methusala! Don't count on him being the reason for Okoye to go. Although I wouldn't shed a tear if Ok did go.

I like this move. He made a few plays for us last year and showed some "nasty" as a good run stuffer. Made more flashes than Amobi.

That's like saying a stinkbug doesn't smell as bad as a skunk. They both stink....seriously, I don;t ever remember hearing this guys name and I watched every game start to finish.

I looked through my extensive salary cap database and I'm pretty sure Okoye will save us....... about tree-fiddy.

Smith: Ooh, it must have been about three, four years ago. Me and the coach was out on this boat, you see, all alone at night, when all of the sudden this huge creature, this giant crustacean from the Paleolithic Era, comes out of the water.
Kubiak: We was so scared, Lord have mercy, I jumped up in the boat, and I said, "Rick, Rick, what on earth is that creature?"
Smith: It stood above us looking down with these big red eyes...
Kubiak: Oh, it was so scary!
Smith: ...and I yelled, I said, "What do you want from us, monster?" And the monster bent down, and said, "I need about tree-fitty."

Been out since Feb, and finally someone woke me up just in time...

If Okoye is gone, how much will that save us in cap space?
Approx $2,640,937 in salary but I'm not sure is any bonus money is included. He was a first rounder so probably has some. If any it still counts against cap.

Well that money is going straight into Gary Kubiak's hair gel product fund. Money well spent imo, that man even in his worst moments has good hair.
Gary's hair gel can't be anywhere near as much as Jimmy Johnson's and the Cowgirls still managed to fit it under the cap. Pun intended.

According to Rotoworld.com, Okoye has a $2.95 million salary for 2011. And he still has $1,875,937 of bonus allocation to be paid off. So his cap hit is around $4.8 million if Amobi is on the roster, $1.875 million if released. $2.95 million saved against the cap (which should help bring in a corner). Okoye must go.

My understanding was he was contemplating retiring at one time right? Or is that another guy?

Alot more ratio when you look at how many more times Okoye got to play.
I agree. More bang for your buck with Lewis, especially if we have a good rotation that can keep his older legs fresh.
Sayanora, Okoye.

geez, he's 33. That's old now? I know we're talking football here but Jeff Zgonina played DT until he was like, what, 42? Matt Turk still wants to kick balls....but he doesn't want to ask his little brother AL DAVIS for a contract....

Helluva better player than Okoye too. At least a 6 ft. 300 lb. pile of marshmellows would trip someone up, leave them sticky or something. The only player Okoye ever beat out was TRAVIS JOHNSON. Yeah. Suck on them sour apples.
