Something has happened this year, just can't put my finger on it.
The players have gotten seriously complacent, and the coaches haven't proven they can do anything to make the team better.
Wade's comment's right after the Pittsburgh game, saying that most of the sacks weren't the lines fault, and Carr's not taking personal responsibility for his play after the Buffalo game are both examples of individuals not taking accountability for their actions. Until the last game, the coaches never held the players accountable either.
We need to see more of that. For the past couple of years, if you have a big contract, you play. If you were a high draft pick, you make the team. If you have a big contract and want to sit out training camp, have a sore hamstring (wink, wink). Yada Yada Yada.
I thought it was great that they actually benched a couple of starters for poor play. If Davis doesn't block, put in Wells. His special teams play show he knows how to hit, and Davis isn't gaining many yards anyway. If the line isn't getting it done, get Wand back in there. At least he knows the plays. If Peek and Babin aren't getting it done, let's see Orr and Anderson. Wide reciever drops passes? Put in Armstrong - we know he can catch.
This will fire people up.
In addition, I see the same players doing the same things they were doing last year and the year before. I don't think the coaches know how to make their talent play better, either individually or as a unit.
