What was up with the 2 man rush

Look I loved the zone blitz that Capers used in Carolina it was awsome. But I have a hard problem understanding his new systems of the no bitlz no coverage. I was at the game yesterday and I made it a point to watch for the blitzing of the linebackers. I mean this year was going to be great this year we would see the real zone blitz's that Capers is famous for. Well to my suprise I saw very little zone blitzes but I did see several occations where a lineman would drop into coverage leaving only 2 linemen to rush Big Ben. What the heck is going on around here? Buddy Ryan was right when he said "The quaterback can't throw the ball with tears in his eyes" so let's give Ben no pressure.??????

Help me understand why we refush to attack oposing quaterbacks.

Did you really see this???? Cause the only reason for doing this is that the inside backers are pass defense deficient and I thought Wong and Greenwood were decent(well, at least Wong).

They may have done this to offset Buchanon's deficiencies.... :brickwall

I HAVE NO CLUE! I've never seen any other team only rush two DL in a non third and long situation. The sickening thing about it is even though we get no pass rush our DB's run into eachother while trying to play in that ****** soft zone we got going on. Mental mistake ontop of mental mistake... a true sign of piss poor coaching.

I too noticed the two man rush and saw three man at times. We heard in the off-season how much faster we were on defense, the 3-4 in an attacking defense, etc. Sorry, I haven't seen it. Not saying it didn't happen, but I don't recall seeing five or six guys attacking the QB yesterday.

But there's a catch: When using the 3-4 defense, your linebackers have to be your best athletes. And you also better have some pretty strong, but very unselfish, defensive linemen up front.

I think any coach that tries to use the 3-4 defense has to be patient. Don't rush to install it before you have the personnel to play it.

Dude I swear. The first time I saw it I was like what did I just see? Watched the replay and there it was Smith or Payne would drop off into coverage of the back and then we were left with our aswsome secret weapon --- THE 2 MAN RUSH.
Wow this is going to revoltionaize the game. The NFL might even have to change the rules to keep teams for using the 9 man zone. Who is going to stop the 10 man zone and god forbid what if someone does an 11 man zone. I guess Capers said wow if a cover 2 can shut down Carr what if we do a cover 7 that is going to be way better than a cover 2 nobody will be able to pass on us.

Ben is much better against a heavy blitz and last year he beat a lot of teams when they did it.The Patriots in the 2005 AFCC game, rarely blitzed, dropped 7,8,9 men to confuse Ben by making him read coverages which was his weakness. He has improved since last year in reading defenses obviously.
