Why wasn't DeAndre McDaniel drafted???

I liked Ian Williams as a mid-round NT. Would be a nice pickup.

One of the punters listed is bound to be signed and brought to camp.

Armon Binns of Cincinnati has the look of a WCO WR the Texans might look at.

If I remember correctly Deandre McDaniel has a serious arrest record for assault on a girlfriend. He's got skill but he's got serious character flaws.

I'd like for them to bring in Noel Devine and Herzlich..

Id love them to get Noel i just do not know where he fits on this team. He is an excellent returner but arent we saying Holliday is are returner right now? I know things can change but im not sure where he fits. He also is an excellent receiver out of the backfield but so is Foster. With Foster Tate and Ward i just do not see where Devine fits. Also he has character issues which will immediately take him off Gary Rick and Bobs radar.

Deunta Williams' injury must be pretty serious for him not to get drafted. I think that guy projects very well to FS at the next level.

Hopefully we can bring him in and stash him on the IR for the year.

I don't know much about Mario Harvey, but I do know we could use some extra depth at ILB. Harvey and McDaniel please.

I don't think Texans want another Pollard type Safety but I sure feel bad for DeAndre McDaniel, Clemson who went undrafted. I saw plenty of db's with stiff hips but rarely anybody who could impact games back there anymore than McDaniel, guess teams where concerned about it along with his stress fracture (wrist) bet he wishes he had done the surgery. http://www.tigernet.com/view/story.do?id=9583

And D.Williams, I.Williams

Since the NT/S spots weren't really addressed in the draft (I know Keo) signing these guys to create competition at these positions would seem to be a smart thing to do.

Lack of competition for positions has been a big reason for the country club atmosphere that currently exists on the Texans defense.

Here's an interesting read regarding safeties.
Remember, these were based on 2009 stats, not 2010 stats.

http://nfl.sportsnewsandscores.com/nfl/2011-nfl-draft-safeties-my-how-the-times-have-changed.html

For example, the stats for McDaniel and Andrew Rich continued to be good in 2010, while the stats for Keo diminished (the main reason I can see here is that teams ddin't go Keo's way much; Boise St. for example - even with a very potent offense.)

Looks like all 32 teams passed on McDaniel due to charactrer issues.

Maybe they can bring in Rich to see what he can do at this level.

Cooper, the RB from Miami was a hell of a propspect at one time, until his injury.

He would be another kick return specialist.

Whenever CBA is approved & its business as usual, Texans GM Rick Smith has stated they've done their homework & will be ready. I have a few player specific names just to throw out there who may be on their list? Didn't include any punters, or anymore OLB's/CB's/QB's. Stuck to what I consider positions that could use more depth, don't see any of these guys starting unless Texans are ravaged by injurys in that case there will be a lot more of this :kubepalm:

John Graves, 5-tech DE, VT, 6030 286
Moving Mario to OLB may have created more need for Texans, at least depth purposes. Texans like Hoakies, seem to be very athletic, high motor, football smart guys.

Mike Blanc, NT/NG, Auburn, 6025 300
One gap penetrator with attitude, plays nasty & explosive ability to shoot the gap. Pro comp is Buffalo's Spencer Johnson & Dallas NT Jay Ratliff.

Kris O'Dowd, OC/OG, USC 6043 303
Natural knee bender who is athletic enough for ZBS & smart enough with good football instincts. Would provide excellent depth & combine with 7th rd. OT Derek Newton. O'Dowd flashes starting ability someday if he can avoid injury's?

Andre Smith, TE, VT, 6040 270
Didn't think you would get out of here without me mentioning a TE now did you? Really depends on health of Anthony Hill? Great value without using a draft pick, good red zone target too but specialty is pass blocking.

Dane Sanzenbacher, WR, Ohio State, 5113 182
David Anderson clone, willing blocker will layout over the middle to make reception, smart, high effort team player. Texans did not use a pick on a WR so I expect them to bring at least one or two undrafted free agents into camp.

Mark Herzlich, LB, Boston College, 6040 244
Blanket back-fill all LB positions, very smart & versatile. Excellent character, work ethic, trials well documented, a very high profile undrafted free agent who Texans would be lucky to aquire, yes they should have used a 7th rd. pick on him but probably didn't mostly out of respect, will get tendered at least 5th rd. compensation.

Joe Lefeged, S, Rutgers, 5112 208
Developmental safety in zone coverage, does drop in the box in run support, excels on special teams. Seems about the cleanest in terms of character without injury history for position who went undrafted.

Darren Evans, RB, VT, 6000 227
Third player I've identified who went undrafted out of Virgina Tech. Rotated with Ryan Williams. Zone type of downhill runner who sustained ACL after earning 2009 ACC Rookie of the Year award. Would be a nice player to tuck away on practice squad since RB was another position not addressed in the draft.

Lefeged and McDaniel would be better than any of the S on last yrs roster.

I was very high on Lefeged, he brings somthing the Texans secondary badly needs (speed)

He's also is a very good ST guy. (Another Texans weakness)
