I encourage you to go to houstontexans.com and listen to the podcasts for him. His position coach gave so much more info than I've ever heard a coach for our team give on a drafted player. He even talked about how Mario and Barwin are going to be in a position to be succesful in our new defense and you can't help but get pumped.

A link would be nice :)

Wow. Sounds great on audio. Lets see how it looks on the field.

I came away more impressed with how the coach evaluated the talent and how he considered the measurables. Especially when asked about the arm length, which was the knock on Reed. He basically shrugged it off and said that it helps to have longer arms but it doesn't make you a better player. Reed's initial burst and first step is what makes him more dangerous and we are only talking about two inches from another players arm length.

He even said that they compared the evaluation to Von Miller and they felt they were pretty close.

You can really tell the difference in how these coaches are going about selecting their players.

I was impressed with that, also. I'm trying to temper my enthusiasm with a little dose of reality, though.
I think coaches get too caught up in things like arm length and hand size and underestimate the heart of a player sometimes. Desire and effort can easily offset smaller hands and shorter arms.

A familiar theme: "Size doesn't matter........It's how you use it.":bat:

I didn't buy into the Herring hire...until I watched that video. The guy clearly knows what he is talking about (and has that crazy eye look you would expect from a LB coach). Arm length isn't a negative, just an advantage some have. Reed's strength is.....strength, foot speed and development of multiple pass rush "moves". Says his 10 yard split beats out some cornerback's times. That's crazy. Also says having Reed will open up the options for the rush and getting him was basically a miracle.
