FA Safeties. Who would you sign?

What do you guys think of the FA pool of safeties? Would Quintin Mikel fit in Wades scheme or Gerald Sensabaugh, since he's already played for Wade at Dallas? I don't know enough about those two. What do you guys think?
Almost draft day, so I can quit starting stop-gap threads to pass the time. :)

Quintin Mikell, Eagles
Darren Sharper, Saints
Gerald Sensabaugh, Cowboys
Bernard Pollard, Texans
Lawyer Milloy, Seahawks
Brodney Pool, Jets
Roy Williams, Bengals
Gibril Wilson, Bengals
C.C. Brown, Lions
Derrick Martin, Packers
Eugene Wilson, Texans
Aaron Francisco, Colts
Ken Hamlin, Colts
Sean Considine, Jaguars
Jon McGraw, Chiefs
Pierson Prioleau, Saints
Deon Grant, Giants

I would love to see what Pollard can do without Gibbs as the coach. IIRC Gibbs was also his coach in KC.

Sharper is older but still top tier to anything we have.

If they move Quin to FS, they could pick up Sensabaugh for SS. He knows Philips system and if his shoulder was ok'd, he'd be a good pickup. With Dallas he wasn't needed against the run as much as Pollard was used here.

I'd like to see them make a run at Eric Weddle of the Chargers also. Both guys are in the 26-27 age bracket although Sensabaugh would be unrestricted in either system and Weddle, I believe has only played 4 years so he may end up being a restricted FA.

God I hope they leave Quin were he is. Safety is not like playing CB and all we are going to do is shorten his NFL career.

Quin did cost us some games last year but they were on fluke plays/bad luck.

If anything we draft a CB and let them battle it out for a starting spot. The loser gets the nickle assignment. God knows we don't have a good nickle corner either.

I wouldn't mind picking up Sharper at all. When he's healthy, he's a ballhawk. If there's a good prospect in the 2nd or 3rd, he could do worse than learning from Sharper.
It will be very telling for Sensabaugh if Wade tries to sign him. Wade should know all there is to know about him.
I like the idea of picking up a veteran safety and hopefully landing Asomougha. If we do that, we should be able to move up and get Miller. That has the makings of a much better D. Still a lot of questions, but not nearly as many gaping holes if we do that.

CB Asomougha
CB Quin
SS Sharper
FS Nolan
That might make a good secondary. Let KJ play the nickel back until he can win a spot in the starting rotation. If he does that, then consider moving Quin to FS. I like him better as the nickel back in this situation, though cuz we face so many pass happy offenses.
Throw in Miller and we have
OLB Barwin
ILB Cushing
ILB Ryans
OLB Miller
If Ryans and Barwin recover from their injuries, that could be a helluva LB corps.
That leave DL, mainly NT IMHO. I think Mario and Smith will do fine at DE.
All of the sudden, our D is a lot less sucky than last season.
I love it when a plan comes together. LOL

Atogwe wouldve been great, but the texans didnt even make an attempt. Sander wouldve been cool for a 1 yr looksie, but they didnt do that either. No player on that list does it for me. Sensebaugh is terrible because he takes the bait too much. Go watch him vs indy when he was with Jax.

To add to your "IF'S" if everyone comes back healthy in the LB core, I don't think they need Miller but a good speed rusher wouldn't hurt in the 1st or 2nd round. Although everyone talks about not needing a DE, I disagree because they need some talent behind Williams and Smith. They can't be expected to play almost every down. Having said that, I think their front 7 will be vastly improved just by EVERYONE coming back healthy. You basically lost the Cushing/Ryans combo for the year, Barwin for the year and Mario for 1/2 of it. That's 2 1/2 of your best 4 defensive players out for the season last year.

I'd rather they spend their FA money on an experienced CB and S. Joseph from the Bengals or Taylor from Pitt. If that happens, I think they can afford a decent SS to boot.
That's why I'm interested to see if Philips goes after Sensabaugh. He'll want a multi year package, which is why he hasn't signed with Dallas earlier. 1 bad game against Peyton Manning 3 years ago doesn't make him TERRIBLE. I think Sharper is toooooo long in the tooth to do us any good. He's closer to being an assistant coach than he is a usable FS anymore in my opinion.

You left these 3 players off your list.

Eric Weddle (FS) - Tendered for a #1 pick.

Dawan Landry (SS) - I'm not sure if he was tendered.

Danieal Manning (SS) - He also averaged 24.7 yards on kickoff returns.

I'd go hard after Weddle & Landry. If you're going to play in the free agent market, then go after the best available. Weddle's tender might drop off after the CBA is settled.

With a lot of people on this board always talking about taking a FS in the first round, why wouldn't you be willing to surrender next year's #1 pick for for what could be the 3rd best safety in the NFL & he's only 26 years old?

I don't think I included RFA's that had been tendered on the list.
I don't know enough about those guys to make a judgement either way.

Sharper is old, but I think he still has some game in him. I also think we have pretty decent depth behind Smith and MW. I just can't wait til draft day so we have something real to talk about instead of all speculation and guesses.

I wouldn't sign any safeties.

I'd sign a CB, move Quin to safety, and draft a CB or two.

So you continue to do what this frachise has done since day one .... When have the Texans ever had two decent safety's ??? .... and you make the CB spot worse than it already is in the process ..... Brilliant.

If it were up to me , I'd be looking for talent upgrades at all the secondary positions in both the draft and FA.

Sign a top tier CB , pair him with Quin , move I fell down to the nickle corner. Draft at least one CB in the mid rounds for depth.

Sign a top tier FS in FA , pair him with , Nolan , a draft pick or another FA. Either way you draft a guy that can play the back end.

This secondary isnt one player away , its three players away from being good.

Getting I fell down off of the opponents best reciever sure would be nice too ....

You'd sign a top-tier FS in free agency? What top-tier FS?

There are none. Glover Quin is significantly better that every single safety on that list. Further, Ike Taylor (or Jonathan Joseph or, god willing, Nnamdi Asomugha) is better that anyone we fielded last year.

So, not only would moving Quin to safety make our safeties exponentially better, signing a good CB and drafting another would make our CB exponentially better.

Quin would be a very good FS on this team. He was rated 7th FS in nation when he came out.
