Just out of curiosity, what's your interest level in the draft this year compared to previous years? With the players and owners constantly whining and no end to the lockout near, I was wondering if people even cared about it at this point.

I'm just as interested in the draft as previous years, but I will rapidly lose interest if they don't get this thing sorted out before the regular off-season activities and pre-season are supposed to be taking place.

Kinda where I stand.

m'eh, I'll read about the results on the internets the next day like I do every year. It's just not that compelling to watch, IMO.

My interest level is the lowest it's ever been for the NFL draft. Mostly it's due to the Texans and the growing apathy I feel towards them. The only thing that will change that now is to win and go to the playoffs and experience that feeling. The other reason is because this NFL draft doesn't have a lot of exciting big name players. Cam Newton is the only really nationally known big name player in this draft. Lastly, I have a lot of things going on that week and weekend of the draft and I may not be able to watch it.

Less interested. As it gets closer I'll probably perk up some interest somewhere. Frankly I'm more looking forward to all the cheering and moaning going on here than I am in the actual draft itself.

Less interested by far. This time last year, I was all giddy. I knew exactly what that weekend was going to entail- what friends I was chilling with, what beer, what pizza, I had pages and pages of mock draft/scenarios, the whole thing. This year? Meh. Like I said in another thread, I might not do a final Texans mock, and it is 50/50 on the final small school rankings. I am hoping that next week I get a jolt of excitement, but it is not looking good.

I will be glad to help you out in this regard.

Much less interested - can't see the point in getting worked up over a draft when the players might not even play until November. I usually have a big fish fry and watch the draft with bunches of folks. This year, I had the fish fry early. I will probably watch parts of the first round just because when football calls........:hurrah:

I'd have to say its significantly less this year for a veriety of reason including and beyond the labor problems.

About the time we hit 5-7 again last year that was my main reason for coming here.

I think it is important this year because we have stunk it up for so long. i am very sick of losing. And the tickets are pretty expensive for the amount of enjoyment we have gotten out of the team. I would feel good about paying for the tickets if we were to make the playoffs. Maybe making the playoffs will become a priority.

Less interested....

Not really even because of the whole NFL CBA issue

More has to do with the Texans. Still upset about last season, Kubiak, what I fear is a coach in waiting in Wade, just the whole effing thing still bums me out..... 1st time ever it has taken me this long to get over a season.....for any team for any sport at any time. 2010 was a complete effing FAIL and the whole Kubiak thing was just insult to injury.

Plus this team is know for taking...let us just say...not my 1st choice in picks usually in the draft. I'm still interested, but def not as much as usual years.

I'm with Nawzer, my interest in the draft is at an all time low and my apathy for the team at an all time high. I did go ahead and pay for half my season, and that stung. They'll get their other half on May 17th and no sooner. I'm looking forward to that 1% simple interest I'll be receiving.
:kubepalm:

Less. With all the holdout stuff and no Free Agency I've simply have to remind myself the draft is 8 days away.

1%...I'm assuming they'll screw it up.

Yeah, with incompetence the accepted norm at Reliant Park, I have very little intrest in the draft. Even if a miricle happens, say Peterson falling to 11, we would draft a shitty player who is more "NFL Ready". I just dont care anymore until we get a non Rick Smith GM in here.

Wow! This place is depressing.

My interest level is as high as it ever was & may be higher due to our new DC & the switch over to the 3-4. It's not like the NFL is going away forever. They're just taking care of some business. Other than the delay of the start of free agency (which the Texans have traditionally been a small time player in) what has changed at this point in the game?

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how the delay in free agency affects the whole draft process. Will there be less trades, more trades or no trades? Will teams continue to draft BPA or take players that fill needs? Will New England trade away picks this year for the uncertainty of future picks? What about all the players that usually go undrafted? Will teams draft the most obscure players in the 7th round because they don't won't to take a chance that some other team will discover them before the CBA is settled? Will Mel Kiper tell another GM he doesn't know what he's doing by taking a player that's not on Mel's board? Will Kiper & McShay finally punch it out on national television?

See, there are a lot of things to look forward to in this year's draft. Cheer up & keep in mind that this draft is going to put us that much closer to having a perennial playoff contender. Have a little faith. After all, is there any other team you would rather cheer for than the Texans? Not for me!!!

But, its still the same old incompetent people running the show. That makes me uninterested.

Much less. I don't see 1 guy in this draft that I think is an A++ elite talent like Suh or Mario. Even guys like Miller, Dareus and Peterson are clearly a big notch bellow.

This is one of the most flawed group of boom or bust players I've see in a while. I see more than one Pacman type meltdown coming out of the first round of the 2011 class.

Why are you here then????? Holy cow I've seen more enthusiasm at a suicide hotline site. 4 things gonna happen this year......
Defense stays healthy
Defense gets coaching finally
we will add talent this year in free agency
Philips will get his Shawne Merriman in the first round

We will make the playoffs this year. Bank on it, don't worry if your late to the party, I'll keep the bandwagon gate open for you pardner!!!!! :spin: :koolaid: :spin:

I've watched the first rounds for the past 2/3 years, but this year I've got very little interest:

- My interest for the NFL is at a low at the moment due to all the crap going on.
- It is getting worse to watch, as they can 'predict' every pick that is coming through.

I might set up twitter text updates just telling me who got picked for the first 2/3 rounds, but watching it on TV holds no appeal for me this year.

Usually, one would have interest in being on an MB because of interest in a team and secondarily because of spirited discussion with fellow fans (and friends). Because of this whole CBA mess, I'm finding my interest driven more by interest in maintaining discussions and contact with my fellow fans and friends. Some would probably fault me for having those feelings.

Who has dosed CND with cuddle spray?

I have a very high interest in the draft this year. Which is the same level I had last year and the year before.

So, I said about the same.

I'll watch every minute with my spreadsheet of draft prospects. And I'll probably be on here talking about it the entire time.

I've stayed away from football because of all the crap going on with the lockout. If I believed that the lockout would end before the regular season I still might have some intrest. I don't believe that it will.
It sucks because im excited to see what wade can do with this defense. Switching to a
3-4 is also exciting (something different). But, without free agency to follow, and just having the draft, makes it really one sided. We won't be able to follow them in OTA's and training camp, and if they miss pre-season, then its all crap.
I'll probably watch a little of the draft just because the Texans are still my team and I want to see how we approach it this year vs last couple of years.

I will say that not until recently did I start really reading, listening to and watching draft news. Part of that definately is due to bad taste this whole lockout left in my mouth. But I love the NFL and Texans too much to stay away. Now I can't wait.

This is for me the most important draft ever as if it is blown, I will seriously consider finding something else to do on Sundays after church. We need to hit it big #11 with either an amazing trade of picks or selecting a play maker that is an instant starter (Julio Jones could add 7 points per game average). We need starters in first 3 rounds and that can be done if things fall slightly just right. Put a JJ opposite Aj & bring back Jacoby for slot, draft Brandon Harris in 2nd or if NT Taylor is there like I hope, draft Duenta Williams for your starting FS to cover your KJs and Quinn and I will have a great draft experience. Or....

I said the same.

The same being SUPER DUPER EXCITED!!!!!! about it.

Favourite time of the year for football.... well at least till the Texans start making playoff runs.

Because after years of saying, "we're on the right track" and "we're close" and then "this is the year" I was rewarded with a 2-8 meltdown while Howdy Doodie and black Rain Man did next to nothing to stop the skid. Then, our fearless leader says "they did a heck of a job and are my guys". How excited can you be? The only change is Wade Phillips and he doesn't get the final say on draft picks, its the guy who took Okoye over Wilis and Revis. It's te guy who took Molden in the third round. It's the guy who KNEW the rumors on Cushing and ignored it. He looks like a lab made man after he was caught last year. Woohoo...I'll be a fan for life, but it's very frustrating to see incompetence not only rewarded but greatly accepted.

No interest at all this year.
No stand-out players.
GM that will probably trade-up in the first round to draft an obscure tight-end from some small school.

MORE..by a long shot. We have no free agency. Teams need to fill holes. Teams are desperate to make splash. I can see alot of movement and suprises in Rd 1 and I like that. Within the last 10 hours I've read on Twitter from good sources that ...Atlanta wants to be in Top 10 for WR, Arizona may want to trade 5, Dallas is moving up or down, Houston up or down, Peterson to Denver instead of Dareus. I mean who knows what will happen. In the past it has been cookie cutter.
