ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports Atlanta Falcons rookie CB DeAngelo Hall is not close to a contract agreement and will officially become a holdout when the team reports to training camp Wednesday, July 28.

Probably $$$$$$$$

Chargers having problems with Rivers too ..

The San Diego Tribune is reporting that " contract talks between the Chargers and first-round draft pick Philip Rivers have not progressed since the two sides met last week in Newport Beach. The quarterback's agent, Jimmy Sexton, believes that Rivers should get paid like the top overall pick because the NFL awarded the team extra money in the rookie salary pool because they did exercise the top pick in the draft."

as of right now only 3 players taken in the first 10 picks have agreed to contracts so who knows maybe it is just this class or the players in it there are a lot of primadonna like winslow, hall ,manning and rivers it seems

Rivers agent is ridiculous! Has there ever been a #1 pick who was passed over by other teams? How is it logical to pay him more than Gallery? The Raiders had the choice of both and took Gallery. The same can be said for Fitzgerald. Even the Chargers pased on Rivers, wanting him plus draft picks to be equal to Manning. Only one person can say no one passed on him and that's Eli.

The extra rookie cap that the Chargers have allows them to structure their contracts in a more relaxed fashion, as is their right as the #1 drafting club. Perhaps they valued this as part of their deliberations when considering their trade. The Giants will have to be a little more creative, in the same way but to a lesser extent than the C'boys with Henson. I see zero logic in Rivers saying lets just ignore everything that actually happened and pretend I went first.

I think Rivers was lucky he was drafted 4th. But for the potential of a trade, I don't believe the Giants would have taken Rivers.

I believe Rivers would have gone all the way to #11 where the Steelers were or possibly #13 at the Bills. He should be thanking the Chargers :twocents:

well you know what...it's simple really...the nfl awarded san diego with the number 1 overall money to sign rookies...river's agent has a claim here...cause he can argue the man they always wanted was rivers and that they only drafted manning so they could trade and get the extra picks from new york to get him as long as they drafted the kid they wanted in rivers...therefore rivers should get the number 1 overall money because he was traded to the number one team...haha...only time san diego fans will here that about the chargers

I think he should get #1 money. You can pick someone and then trade them down so they get less money. Thats bull****. What if they traded him down to the middle or lower #'s? Not that it would happen, but it very well could. He shouldnt be jerked around like that. Just give him the money he deserves and get on with camp.

Rivers could be ruining his chance at earning the starting job if he doesn't sign before camp. A rookie QB needs every possible repetition to be prepared to start his first season.

I didn't know about Hall being known as MeAngelo. That is reassuring since he was the guy I really wanted in the first round. I don't think that kind of attitude would be a good fit on the Texans.

The guy was drafted with the #4 pick. He should get paid like the #4 pick. It doesn't matter how much the league awarded the Chargers, that should have little barring on these negotiations.

was listening to 610 earlier this morning while Carl Poston (spelling) was on , Agent for Kellen Winslow . Wow is all i can say , that guy is so full of crap its rediculous . Saying things like the contract signed by Sean Taylor is rotten , Rod Woodson is gettin screwed with an 8Mil+ salary (Cap Number) this season that he should be paid more , Peyton Mannings 100Mil contract wont strap the team for cash in the long run ..... no wonder Gibbs passed on Winslow so as not to have to deal with this snake . I mean this kid has yet to play a down and he's gettin Tony Gonzalez money .... and turns it down.

just crazy money getting thrown at a buncha kids , i suppose D Hall wants his 20 mil upfront too . But i would think they would have to show something before that huge payday , not just in college but a cuople seasons as Pro's .
Good thing the texans didnt bother to trade up (what a huge price it would have been to do) for any of these guy's , all of whom have questionable characters reguardless of athletic ability

well taylors contract isn't very good if you look at the other top 5 picks

1. eli huge deal, 20 mil guranteed
2. gallery huge deal, not sure on the numbers
3. fitzgerald, possible 60 mil
4. rivers, wants 1st pick money
5. taylor, only a possible 40 mil, and i emphasise the only
6. winslow turned down taylor's deal

the problem with this year's draft is that all of these players were told that they were the best players in the draft by different teams, so then they think that they deserve 1st pick money. if the money mattered so much to taylor then he souldn't have signed first and waited to see what everyone else got. corrosion, gibbs does have to deal with poston, he is also lavar's agent and they had a big abbitration (sp) trial this summer over some money.

as for d hall, if you ever hear the guy talk then you can tell were he got his nickname from, as for the closest db to deion "primetime" sanders, i would have to say phillip "showtime" buchanon, just ask dieon.
