Prince Amukamara, CB or Robert Quinn DE

which one would yall want or neither ???

Trade up and get Miller!!!:wild:
OK, but at what price ? I'd maybe throw in a 3rd round pick to move up and get him, but we know the least it would cost is a 2nd round pick if he's still on the Board when the Cards are picking at #5. I suppose some people would even give up multiple picks including next years first rounder which I think is crazy ! But just think of all of the "can't miss" guys who have ended up being busts ?

An interesting fact I came across: Amukamara intercepted only five of the 27passes he broke up over his career. Oddly, all five interceptions came during his junior season

Interceptions are a overrated stat. The guy is a excellent corner and the secondary is the biggest problem on this team....by a pretty wide margin. If Prince is there, I'd take him.

I voted for neither. Robert Quinn missed out on an entire year of football and the only thing shooting is draft stock up is his athletic ability and intangibiles. Prince Amukamara was schooled VS Oklahoma St. when he was covering Blackmon.

Neither. Quinn had 1 good year and has a lot of potential. You know who else had 1 good year and potential written all over him coming into the draft? Amobi Okoye.

Prince got burned by Juston Blackmon repeatedly. Blackmon is a special player, but he will face a lot of them in the NFL. Does he have the goods to be a #1 CB?

I will take 3-4DE Cam Jordan. You know exactly what you are getting: a very good 3-4 DE who may be able to give you a lot more.

Oh my bad...I just looked at the thread title and thought this was between Quinn or Prince.

There's other players I'd take other those two. I can think of a certain WR I'd like other them, even though it isn't our biggest need. I think Jones can be a special player and I think our hole at the #2 spot is bigger than some people realize. We need to find a guy to groom behind AJ.

I wouldn't go all Ditka over Miller, but I would swap 1st rounders this year, 3rd Rounder this year and maybet a player or 1 of next years picks. Depends on where he's at if/when we decide to pull the trigger. I would go even further and, depending on the board, try to move up to the late 1st round and try to get one of the top CB's left on the board. As has been posted before, the current regime has nothing to lose and everything to gain by going for broke on this draft. I'd go all in.:fans:

I wish we could get miller but people are talking about him going is the top 5 so I don't see this happening

Picking Quinn or jordorn would be a safe pick

But I'm thinking prince and Julio jones will both fall 2 us and there pretty good players IMO

ANSI would think prince would be our number 2 cb and Jackson our number 1

Robert Quinn b/c our Secondary will be worthless w/o any pass rush.

On the flip side...

Prince b/c our defense won't be worth a crap even if we did have Quinn without a warm body in the secondary. When your DBs are falling down everywhere and you can't cover to save your life, it's not because of pass rush.

It takes at least 2-3 years for a CB to make an impact. So you want to pair Jackson with Prince.

Sure is going to make our secondary a lot better.

oh wait we did the exact same thing last year

I picked Prince. We have to improve our historically bad secondary. And I know the secondary play is dependent upon how much pressure the defensive front can put, but the bottom line is that the secondary was awful beyond belief. If he's there, we should take him unless there is a better rated player on the board.

That's why we need to concentrate on going after a top CB in FA.

I picked Quinn but I'd still be happy with Prince.

Whoever the pick is, we still need to go out and get some quality secondary players in free agency. A veteran CB is a must whether Prince is picked or not.

Who told you that it take 2-3 years for a CB to make a difference. That's downright silly. :wadepalm: Hate to break this to you buddy, but if you're waiting 2-3 years for your CB to "make a impact" most likely said player is a bust.

Also when the heck did we pair Jackson with Prince or spend two back to back high round draft picks on that position? Glover Quinn was a low draft and Jackson was a 1st round rookie. Quinn didn't rate anywhere near Prince. Heck coming out more often than not Quinn was rated higher as a safety than he was a corner.

I voted neither - This team went with a young secondary last season and it cost them any chance at the playoffs. I cant see a rookie coming in and fixing whats broken on the back end of this defense - Get a proven FA talent at CB.

I dont think DE is a position that needs first round treatment - whats he going to do , play behind MW and Smith ? I want a full time starter this season out of the first round pick , not insurance for next year or a replacement for MW.

The biggest holes on this defense other than the secondary are NT and OLB. Thats where I expect them to look in the first round. Getting a premier player at one of those spots would make the most impact and I could see a rookie contributing significantly in those area's much moreso than in the secondary or playing behind Mario Williams.

Hell, with so many holes on defense I say trade back in the first(if we can find a team that wants to), and draft a rush olb/de and a dt. You gotta work the board in this draft to get better up front in the trenches on D.

Then go after a prime CB in FA and let Wade handle the rest.

Btw, anyone have any ideas on who a good trading partner would be? Who needs to move up to 11 to grab a qb or wr? St. Louis maybe?

Prince is a very good cover corner. Who can play some bump and run. He would be the best CB on this team. But there are several guys that I would pick ahead of him.

I'm also not that high on Quinn. He got most of his sacks 2 yrs ago against inferior opponets.

If you're going to take a chance on a guy like that. You might as well take a chance on Taylor and draft Reed and Carter in rds 2-3 if available.

Lets be honest here who ever wade wants in the draft is who we will prob pick u know hes putting his word in on who we draft

so we might go DE or NT or get the 2nd best OLB off the board

If they could trade back to somewhere between 17 with NE to 19 with NYG I could see this going down and Taylor being the target there with OLB and S addressed in the next two rounds in no particular order.

17 would likely be the ideal spot with several 34 teams picking in that part of the round. That said , I dont believe NE would be moving up , they seem to move back and still get the guy's they want .... every damn year.

I really like Taylor , he's got the potential to be the best DT in this draft.

Stephen Paea is another option , might be able to get him even later in the round - maybe 28-29 (in front of the Jets).

I might be tempted to move back up into the earlier part of round two and pick up Aaron Williams to plug in at FS with the ability to cover slot WR's as well.

I could see the Rams if they want J Jones or AJ Green if they fall to the 11th pick. Or a team trying to jump Vikings for Newton/a QB. Maybe Miami, Oakland, or Seattle. Oakland doesn't have a 1st rounder ao they could be out, unless they offer half their draft.

I think it's funny how often Julio Jones gets mentioned. Nobody gave a **** about him until the combine. I know he was rated as a first rounder, but nowhere near where he is now.

I know he was impressive as hell, but I'm always skeptical of selecting athleticism over tape. A guy with great tape may not have the same potential, but at least you know what you will end up getting.

Jones is sloppy with his routes, drops a ton of balls, and doesn't get the separation that an athlete like him should be getting. I also watch his mannerisms and have seen him do some interviews. He is dumb as a rock. And he reeks of a guy who has never had to work hard because he was just always the better athlete. What happens when everybody is just as good?

Now, he is a ferocious blocker and he is great in space with the ball. He gets a lot of yards after the catch.

He will be a NFL starter. But in my opinion he is a #2 WR. Now there is nothing wrong with that. He will be a good player. But a WR picked in the top half of the first round should be a #1. This guy will always need someone across from him. He is no Andre Johnson.

A #2 WR would benefit our offense. But do we want to use the #11 on a #2 WR or would we be better served with a guy like Quinn, Kerrigan, or Amukamara? There is a guy named Tandon Doss who should be available in the 3rd round who can give us all the same things that Jones can.

Now this is only my analysis, and I've been wrong before. But in all honesty, no arrogance intended, I don't miss very often.

Generally speaking, corners take a year or so to become quality/relaible starters. The current best corners didn't develop until their 3rd years. As the Texans right now, our offensive window is closing and we have enough pieces that if we add a few on defense we can be a contender. It makes sense to sign a free agent VETERAN Corner and let our first round Corner we drafted last year to develop.

Everyone's complaint all throughout the season was "our secondary is too inexperienced". (with Quinn starting in his second year and Jackson being a rookie). If we draft Prince it will be the exact same thing (Jackson 2nd yr, and Prince being a rook) and there will be the same growing pains, I can guarantee that.

Trade down a few to a team that wants to leapfrog Minnesota for a QB, get an extra pick and...

Aldon Smith.

I have been saying this too. I dont care what he ran at the combine, he doesnt play that fast.

I would take one of the late 1st round rated WR's late one or early 2 as better value that taking Jones that high.

Von Miller who was also mentioned in this thread is another one. Seems like everyone has fallen in love with him. Show me some game tape of him making an inside move, spin move, or any move other than just running around guys to make a big play. He really reminds me of Manny Lawson. Hell if you want that kind of a player draft Dontay Mock in the 3rd. I would rather have Reed late first or early second as that would be better value IMO.

Just my opinion and I no that people are going to think im crazy but we'll see!!!!

I've been following his career pretty closely, as he was being heavily recruited by FSU coming out of high school. In the end it was between FSU and Alabama, and Bama won.

Julio is a true junior so he isn't exactly supposed to be the most polished receiver. He's only 22 years old. AJ Green is rare in that some of his best attributes are his route running and fluidity yet he is so young. I've seen great things from Julio Jones, he makes big plays in big moments and was a consistent threat last year for them.

He was able to produce good numbers last year (78 rec. 1,133 yards 7 TDs) as a #1 for Alabama despite their heavy emphasis on the running game. He was responsible for 33% of Alabama's receiving yards and nearly 31% of their receptions last year. I think he has the ability to be a #1 in the NFL, he certainly has the athletic ability to do so, but you are right in that I wouldn't expect him to be a #1 right away. He will be better served as a #2 early in his career, but that is exactly what we need. He is a great fit for us. I would no doubt take him with the #11 pick if I were an NFL GM.

Having said that, I understand the argument that we can't afford to take a receiver or that there is no way we can't get a defensive player @ 11 that can help us. It's a difficult position to be in. If Dareus, Fairly, Bowers, Miller, Quinn, Peterson, Prince, and AJ Green are all off the board, I am taking Julio Jones.
