If the owners had not locked out the players, Texans quarterback Matt Schaub and most of his teammates would have been at Reliant Stadium on Monday morning. On what would have been the first day of off-season workouts in the NFL, though, Schaub gathered teammates and organized a workout at Rice University.

Before participating in the Shell Houston Open Pro-Am at Redstone Country Club with guard Mike Brisiel, wide receiver Kevin Walter and backup quarterback Dan Orlovsky, Schaub spent part of his morning Monday working out with about two dozen locked out Texans. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/7494616.html

The defense needs to bring in some people with coaching experience that aren't active coaches that are familiar with the 3-4 to maybe start teaching them a thing or two, if that kind of thing is allowed.

The players have to go out and do it themselves. If they want to learn Wade's 3-4, they need to go find some guys who've played in it (who aren't coaches) and the work with them on it.

It's great that Schaub's organizing workouts for the offensive players but what about the defensive players which need the most work settling into a new 3-4 scheme?

Glad to see that the players have decided to get together.
Yea but don't you wish the Chronicle writer would have told us who those 2 dozen players were, not just 3 or 4 of them ? And I'm guessing that they were all offensive guys, so is the defense working out or is there no one to lead them with DeMeco still handicapped with his rehab from last years injury ?
