shotgun

Doom Capers

Would it be possible for Carr to take a majority of his snaps from shotgun? Lord knows the other team knows when we are running it anyways, maybe this will give him a little more time before he is nailed.

I had the same idea earlier today and suggested he have DD and AJ lined up as split backs with him ..... That way the other recievers could run their routs as decoy's and Carr would have his choice .... Check down to DD .... Or Check down to AJ ...... I think it just may work ! :tv:

No.

Have Carr line up behind the center, and take a knee three straight times.

Punt and pray for a fumble recovery during the return.

If we recover, have Carr take three more straight kneel downs.

Punt it to the one-yard line and down it there.

Get a safety on the next play. TWO POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Repeat steps for the rest of the game.

gpshafer_1976 would you be Dom Capers ? :tomato: You sure sound like him!

How about changing up the snap count OR lining up and switching formations before the snap OR going no huddle OR :brickwall

maybe use nothing but tight ends and running backs for recievers... when they aren't going out for a pass, perhaps they could block? Sorry, I said the "B" word

"Couch Coach" here!
I would do the shotgun more, with no huddle. Maybe you could get some kind of an edge over the opposing D!

shotgun sounds good. make the opposing D take longer to get there. able to have longer routes.

How about adding a couple more WRs and give the other team more weapons to worry about. Right now any one on this board can make a plan to stop this offense Stop the run twice then bring in you nickel or dime Defense.

I wouldnt be to worried about us spreading the field when our wr dont know the balls coming intil it hits them in the back of the head. :dangit: :slap: :thud:

you know i was thinking the same thing...kinda work him and the offense like UT, Utah, Florida, and T. Tech run their offense...with the treat of throwing the ball every down but running it half the time...with carr be a mobile QB it might work better than the system we have now

I was thinking .... Shotgun , split backs and 3 recievers .... or a versatile TE/WR hybrid who could line up in the slot ....Billy Miller . Oh , we cut him (yeah , I know I was one of those who said he didnt fit but desperate times call for desperate measures) ....That would spread the field and possibly open up some running lanes for Capers errr DD.

spread the field all you want, receivers are worthless when the quarterback only has time to glance at one before dumping the ball in a panic

dump the recievers and put in all running backs... if the longest pass route is gonna be limited to 3 or 4 steps, I'd rather have running backs out there instead of recievers

how bout some screens and draws. an occasional snap on the first sound to attempt to catch the defense moving. maybe carr could drop back and throw it long and up for grabs . we may get a pass interference call . Lord knows it worked for drew pearson , and michael irving for years

They need to play a 2 TE set and use the FB with one Wr. We only have one anyway. I would put Wand and Bruener at TE. Play for protection. DC does not wether he is coming or going right now. It is apparent that the opposition is able to put 9 in the box. Maybe we should have 9 blockers in the box. Let our WR switch out every play. Sure it is conservative, but its not like I am suggesting we shutdown the wide open passing attack.

Troy Vincent hit it on the head:

"Carr locks onto a receiver and tips off the defender..."

This isn't my opinion..this is a star player on an opposing team basically handing us a freebie in terms of what's up with our star QB.

Sad. In one way I'm glad to hear it, and in another way it's embarassing to have someone basically say, "This is how people beat your QB...."

As if he felt sorry for us and for Carr and he felt the need to give us a few tips and pointers out of sympathy for the situation.... :embarrass
