Interview just now on WEEI with the man who broke the story, Dan Sileo from Tampa 620 The Sports Animal.

He said he learned Brandon was with a group of people. Shots were fired. The lawyers (Morgan & Morgan), who are advertisers on the station, represent the victims are accusing BM of being the shooter. Brandon has not been arrested. NFL came down last week and hired an outside firm to investigate.

The attorney for these 2 victims said one was grazed in the head and ijuries are minor. The other was shot through the cheek and the bullet went into the head causing serious injuries. He also said they claim to have been Merriweathers ex team mates. I assume at U of MIA or high school.
 
People need to update on this. The guy who started this rumor is some D-bag that has no credibility himself. Now the attorney in the county says he doubts Merriweather was involved. He is the only one who reported it

A former University of Miami football player, Sileo was so well-known for embellishing his brief pro career on the air, stated the Chronicle, that the intro to his own show poked fun of him: "Three years in the NFL! All right. ... Three months. ... All right. ... Three downs!"

Susan Slusser, the Chronicle's sports media writer, documented some of Sileo's exaggerations:

* In San Francisco, Sileo often referred on-air to his playing days with the Dallas Cowboys. But according to the team, Sileo went to training camp in 1989 and was released before the season began.

* According to the newspaper, Sileo said that he played for the Detroit Lions and was on the field when Joe Montana played his final game for the San Francisco 49ers in 1992. KTCT program director Lee Hammer also told The Tampa Tribune on Thursday that Sileo said he started eight games for the Lions. A station employee also told him that Sileo claimed a photograph of a Lions player on the sports department wall was of himself. According to the Lions, however, Sileo never played for them. Rather they allocated his contractual rights to the Orlando Thunder of the World League.

UPDATE (9:32 a.m.): An Orange County Sheriff’s department told WEEI Thursday morning that Meriweather is not currently part of any investigation: “Mr. Meriweather is not officially listed on any police report at this point. There is an ongoing investigation into that incident, but I can tell you he’s not listed at this point. We are having meetings on a number of issues this morning, but nothing as of this time.” Two weeks later and no mention of Meriweather in any police report? He’s looking better by the minute.
