The Williams Wall era in Minnesota has come to an end. Pat Williams, 38-year-old unrestricted free agent defensive tackle, has announced that he's leaving the Minnesota Vikings.
Williams made his announcement via text message to Tim Yotter of Viking Update. "Everything's good," he said. "I am not coming back. Going to go finish elsewhere."
The news is no surprise to Vikings coach Leslie Frazier, who said at the Combine that "We are going to try to upgrade our defensive line," that "someday Pat is going to retire," and "we need a young guy to step up."
Williams told Yotter he didn't trust everyone in Minnesota, but emphasized he had no problems with Frazier. "I trust Frazier," he said. "He can only do so much. It's that other part of the job. I'd played for him any day.
