On 610 they said the Texans did something (around 7:45) and would come to it after break. Then they had someone on the phone about the Rockets.

Did anyone hear what the news was?

Heard that too, still aint heard nothing. The probably hired Richard Smith as waterboy or something lame like that.
 
Maybe the breaking news is that McNair will have some Eggs instead of his regular Oatmeal this morning.
 
BREAKING NEWS the Houston Texans have decided to join the CFL. Mr. McNair has said they have a 10 year plan to win the Grey Cup.

No No, since they cant win or make it to the play-offs they are gonna start serving free beer to everyone who attends the game. McNair says this is to better the texans total experience :clap: that way you wont know if they lost or not.
 
If they announce they are going full time to those awful all red uniforms I'm going to throw up.

the same Brian who said the Texans were happy with mediocrity pre-season based on their inactivity in improving the key deficiencies

Why are we calling him a D-Bag? He was spot on last year and I can't argue with anything he said - he said Wade is good at what he does, we don't have the players and we will suck until we have the proper players. He also questions how Mario would truly fit into a 3-4.

He said our owner is happy with being mediocre and until change is made at the top (couldn't tell if he meant Smith or McNair), we'll remain mediocre.

I was just reading that thread yesterday (it was the last Vinny sighting). Matter-of-fact, if you click the link in my sig you can see it.

I found it interesting to read everyone's thoughts a year later. Many of the same folks defending Kubiak last year seem to be doing the same this year. Much of the criticism is the same, just with more vitriol and disgust now.

It's funny about Baldinger. He was one of the few national media analysts that praised the Schaub deal when it happened, and he just crucified HWWNBN, much to the chagrin of his loyalists. Baldinger was right the entire time. Schaub ended up being a fantastic QB, and we all know the fate of HWWNBN.

I liked Vinny's last significant post. People get all worked in a tizzy because the national media looks at our franchise as a bottom dwelling mediocre team, but it's the truth. There is absolutely NOTHING in the past 9 seasons to support anything but the fact that this franchise is mired in perpetual mediocrity.

I can only imagine a year from now and the same old song and dance. I hope not. I want Kubiak to succeed, for AJ and the entire team, for all of us as fans, and for the city of Houston. But, that being said, the fact that this team ended up 6-10 and the owner did jack squat about it with the exception of hiring Wade. One year later and not much has changed.

The reality is that McNair should have forced a change years ago, especially regarding hiring PROVEN coaches instead of FOGs that have proven to be inept and incompetent. This franchise gets no respect simply because it has never earned any respect.

I drink a lot of Kool-Aid. I'll go to the games in 2011. But even I am not expecting anything over 500.

I love me some Koolaide. I just want it made with something other than raw sewage in the future. It leaves a bad aftertaste otherwise. :shades:

.500 is about what I expect, as well. It can take a couple of seasons to implement a new defense, and with the looming lockout, missing those OTAs are going to set us back in that regard.
 
So 610 came on and toute breaking news to hold its listeners cause we all know the jocks cannot do that, Then they snub the fact that they have no news. Typical of a sorry ass radio station

According to Texans' Marketing, the team has the best medical staff
and facilites in the NFL. In 2011, we're gonna have Demeco, Cushing, and
Barwin playing as they did in their respective rookie seasons. Although
they'll start the season 5-7, at least they'll be the "most exciting" team
in the NFL.

What do we base this on?

I know it's difficult for you guys to see me or anything I say as anything other than the most wish-washy fan. One minute I'm on the Gary-Train, next minute I'm on the Get-him-the-Fck-out-Train.

But I've seen this argument before, I've argued against it before, yet it still pops up, still gets repeated, and people still believe it.

Gary hires his friends, so the fck what. They all do. Every coach in the NFL, when given the opportunity will hire their friends.

& in the case of Frank Bush, you're saying that he's been proven inept & incompetent.

When? When did you figure out that Frank Bush was inept & incompetent?

Was it after the 2009 season, when we fileded the best defense this team has ever had? Is that when you would have fired Bush for being inept & incompetent?

That defense was as good as the defense Greg Williams (who everyone here recognizes as a defensive genius) fielded in 2009. Statistically Frank Bush's defense bested or equaled Greg Williams defense in every category except turnovers. & while that very well may be the "only" stat that matters, it isn't enough (IMO) to consider Frank Bush inept. & damn sure doesn't justify firing Frank Bush.

2010, he had shown to not be able to handle the difficulties & obstacles thrown his way. Surely he deserved to have been fired. If you wish to argue he should have been fired at the bye week, I won't argue with that, but anything else would have been premature.

The Texans are almost like a minor league farm for NFL coaches. We bring in noobs and let them wet their feet at the expense of the club's success.

See, this is why you get labeled. Gary's friends have failed. And he doesn't pull the plug on them until they're in deep ****.

Let me give you an example. Pete Caroll hired his buddy a year ago to run his offense in Seattle. Pete just fired his buddy after a year.

Caroll tasted success, got addicted, and decided to do whatever it takes to build a winner, even if it means realizing his buddy wasnt the best choice.

Get it?

Gay should've been fired after his 3rd 5-7 season. Against one of the easiest schedules possible. TK how can you be so positive about Gary after four 5-7 seasons in a row. You continue to amaze me.

The news is here Houston team wins tailgating championship

FORT WORTH — Hundreds of fans crowded into Sundance Square to watch America's best parking lot chefs compete in the Bing National Tailgating Championship.

Or maybe they were just trying to stay warm.

Tailgating contestants started cooking at 5 a.m. Thursday and fans began gathering around 10 a.m. The temperature was 26 degrees at eatin' time.

When the smoke cleared, the Bull's Eye Tailgaters from Houston won the top prize of $15,000 and a gold-colored, fully functional gas barbecue grill.

It's a little glitzy.

The event was hosted by New Orleans Saints star Reggie Bush and Joe Cahn, the "Commish" of the Tailgating Institute of America.

The Bull's Eye team won the Houston semifinals back in November. The judges were former Texans lineman Steve McKinney, H-E-B president Scott McClelland and me. Ah, we remember those pork ribs well.

The Houston cookers defeated tailgate teams from Denver, New York, Phoenix, New Orleans and Seattle.

Do they even know what barbecue is in those cities? From now on, the winner of the Houston event should be given the national trophy to save everybody time and trouble.

The Bull's Eye team cooked (take a deep breath) brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, bacon-wrapped beef tenderloin, smoked Cajun sausage, beef ribs, pork ribs, Cajun pork tenderloin and chicken. Plus all the fixin's.

"We're a Southern state so we wanted to impress the judges with our volume of beef and other meats," said Jason Saldivar, who founded the Bull's Eye Tailgaters with his brothers Troy and Ray.

"This was definitely the coldest weather we ever cooked in. We were prepared with propane heaters, though. The biggest hurdle we had was timing everything so it would be hot off the grill when we served the judges. That's what we do: timing and execution."

Josh Innes is the worst person on radio period. He should be a disk jockey because he doesn't know sports and is completely unlikeable.

I still don't know why so many people pimp 1560 though. Lance and that dude that got fired from Rome are the only people on the station that I can stand to listen to. Plus they were running ads smearing Charlie Pallilo which is not cool because CP is by far the best sports talk guy we have in Houston.
