Steelers Next...it won't be pretty

I watched the Steelers crush TEN today and Willie Parker and Ben R. were awesome. I'm afraid we're looking at 0-2 heading into bye.

I think thats a given (which is sad because no game in the NFL should be) I just hope they can atleast make it interesting.

Just in time for the bye week. Plenty of time to get a new coaching staff in place. Someone make a call to Ed Biles and Hugh Campbell. We need them now more than ever!

We owe it to ourselves to keep a sense of humor. ;)

It oughta be a kick reading this week's prediction thread, shouldn't it?

Roethlisberger and the Steelers first team offense looked awful in the preseason, so I assume that means it'll be a close game, right guys?

At what point does David Carrs head get ripped off?? What quarter?

Then we can hear Steve McKinney get on the radio and yell and get mad that we are upset and (lol) spout off at the mouth that the O-Line is one of the best in the league!

i hate to say it, but we are a victim of scheduling....what chance do we have facing such epic quarterbacks as...
JP Losman
Ben Rothlisberger....
now all we need is for ryan leaf to come out of retirement and rip us a new one :brickwall

The Texans shouldn't even bother coming home. That's right I said it. Everyone got on me when I threw a fit after the Bucs game but these guys proved me right. This offense hasn't been ready and will not be next week.

Have some faith. It's just one game in a long season.

I do think even if the Texans bring their A game it'd be hard to beat the Steelers but this Texans team is much better than what they've shown.

can I interest you in some great real estate in New Orleans?

The idea is to get to the SB in Detroit. At some point, we will have to beat more than one team like the Steelers to get there. For the record, I think the Steelers are going to knock us out by halftime if they remember the last game. :)

I guess that's suppose to be funny and maybe under different circumstances it would be but oh well let's just say I'm not laughing.

It's ONE game. The Texans can do better. I do not expect them to beat the Steelers even at home but I do think they have players that can compete with them.

Exactly! The offense was not ready and preseason had a lot to do with this.

They should have had their starters in the game at least as long as other teams did (not including the Tampa game... it was too late by that time). I guess the coaches figured they didn't need the work and it was a bad miscalculation. Then again, that should be expected by this staff.

From what I have noticed we beat the teams were supposed to get blown out by and we lose to the teams that are supposed to be close or that were supposed to beat. However I still think we will lose but not as bad as people think. I wouldnt bet on it though

So, where have you been since the 2nd half of last season? Our offense
began looking bad a long time ago...much better??? Where does this thought
have its roots?

I've never heard such doom and gloom after one game....the Texans have certainly not played well on offense. That's obvious. If fans don't think they have players that can play much better I don't know what to say....Carr can play much better, Davis can play much better, Andre can play much better. Get the drift? The operative word is CAN. Will they? Yea I think so. If others here don't think so you might as well call it a season right now. After the first game it appears many are doing so.

I think the reason is that fans are frustrated with the fact that the issues this team has had for a long time now, issues that were supposed to be adressed this off-season, are as evident as they were the last 3 seasons. When a team members themselves (coaching and players alike) focusses on fixing the problems on the team during the off-season and they don't, people get upset.

I'm sure that most fans around here would agree that there is alot of talent on this team, if this talent knows how to work together and if the coaching can make this talent work, that's another matter alltogether.

I think you are exactly right. We Texans fans should recognize the fact that the OL was originally going to be anchored by Boselli. That didn't work. There was the Wand project for 2 years. We tried to get Orlando Pace. We were used as a bargaining chip. Now we are to Victor Riley at LT. I am not mentioning the Center or TE, because we all know those situations all too well. Just more frustration. Again the Texans traded away picks + Glenn for PBuc that could have been used for other needs. It feels like Casserly is applying a band-aid to a sucking chest wound.

First the coaches have to put the best talent on the field, instead of leaving it on the bench. Second, I don't think some of the coaches know how to improve players/help them learn a system - which is what I thought coaching was.

Since I'm in Japan, I could only listen to the Texans game and track it on gamecenter.

It seemed the Bills defense kept us off-balance and did a great job of disrupting our passing game and limiting our running game.

Our defense for the number of times we turned it over did a pretty solid job of keeping the score close...it could have been a lot worse.

However, our offense needs a stud LT,a solid C and a versatile TE. Our defense needs to put pressure on the QB...we just can't seem to make the 3-4 attack like we should.

Although I'm a homer and usually try to remain positive, I'm really wondering if the Capers/Palmer combo can take us to the play-offs. I wouldn't replace them at the bye, but would wait until mid-season to evaluate our progress and potential. If we're 2-6, I'm looking at who should be the next head coach. Its interesting that Jimmy Jones was seen with McNair. If you look at our core its comparable to Aikman (Carr), Smith (Davis) and Irving (Johnson) when Jones was there. I hate to speculate after one game, but this is depressing!

All things considered after the "game" yesterday, we didnt get a chance to tell if the TE position had improved. Murphy and Bruner had a whole 2 catches between them. They didnt really seem like the problem.

BTW - Who is Jimmy Jones? Brother of Mike Jones? (Who? Mike Jones!) Son of Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones? Just messing with ya, lol.

I can't wait until next week. The Steelers defense is the number one in the league and their new running back Willie Parker racked up 161 yards against the Titans. Whoohooo! It's going to be a close one.

I say: 38-3 Steelers win it.

Perhaps we should go ahead and bench AJ and Dunta. No point in getting them hurt in a losing effort. Carr can stay in, he can set one record: most sacks ever.

:ouch:

There is one good thing about this upcoming game. When they see that they OWN us, the Steelers will not pass and blow us out. They will just run, run, run, run. 5 yds., 10, 25, 8, 17, etc., etc. I know our run D isn't that bad really, but our offense will be 3 and out over and over until the D is about to pass out. We are about to get the very definition of a "methodical" beating.

Worst O-line ever....meet the Steel Curtain. :goodnight

Well WWDJ what do you suggest we all do as we start our fourth season with every single one of the same problems we had when we started play in 2002? We've all been waiting for three years to see this team play better and you apparently saw the game. Tell me how this is better or how you think it's going to get better.

You ever hear that overused line about the definition of insanity? It goes something like "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different outcome".

The Texans are starting their fourth year without a line that can get the job done and yet they expect a different outcome. I don't anymore.

Willie Parker, where'd he come from? 161 yards in his first start? Last season he had 186 yards in 8 games and now combined (2004 and 2005) I think he just surpassed Tony Hollings career totals if Tony plays the next ten years.

How do you know this? Don't tell me they have talent, without showing me i games. just go out and do it.Games are not won on paper, games are won on the field, until this teams shows it can win on the field, there will be little faith.

you are :deadhorse ....Until Casserly or Capers has to actually play QB or run the ball behind that line they will NEVER understand how pathetic it really is ....Unfortunately this will never happen so dont expect any results ... Until Mr McNair gets FED UP and Fires the lot of'm.

He came from behind that Steelers O-line ..... Hell , even Hollings would avg 3.9 a carry behind those guy's . Well , maybe thats a stretch but you get the idea . You really think Ben is that good'a QB or does the fact he plays behind an O-line that gives him plenty of time make him look so good ? I think a LOT of his success has to do with that O-line and the fact they dont have to pick the guy up off his can every time he drops back to pass .

:homer: Before Training camp , before Pre-season and before this debacle against the Bills there were a few .... Glass half empty or Chicken Littles .... Now they look like Prophets . 5-11 here we come ! :goodnight

This next game should be Battle Red...so that all of our players' blood doesn't stain our clothes from the massacre on the field.

Although I wish I could say different...I don't have a good feeling about next Sunday. :(

Undrafted free agent last season....he did put up 102 yards in the last game of the year in 2004 against a buffalo team that had to win to have a shot to make the playoffs.....granted he did this with 2nd and 3rd stringers around him.....

You're talking about a team who beat your Steelers in 2002 with only 47 yards of offense. Technically speaking from that game to this one we're only 73 yards better than we were then so yeah, we suck pretty bad.
