I think this will be a very good game. Think the Packers will win late.

I'll be rooting for the Packers. Not only do I want them to win, but I want them in place just in case, ughhhhhhh.....the Jets beat Pittsburgh.

How the hell did Alex Smith go #1 ovrl and Aaron Rodgers plummet in the draft?

I wonder what it's like to be a 49ers fan and know that you passed on Aaron Rodgers for Alex Smith. Atleast with the Carr draft, there wasn't a stud QB taken after him. LOL, Joey Harrington was just as bad.

They were talking about this on the radio this past week. I don't really remember rodgers' exact issue myself but they were saying he had some arm issues coming out (weak) & that he didn't really interview well etc.. also that he was a jeff tedford guy & those guys are known to have issues transitioning to the league.

Basically said that the years he spent on the bench he worked on getting his arm stronger & bulking himself up..said that the years he spent behind Favre really helped him alot.

First the Blackhawks lose, now if fortunes rolls the Bears lose. Good times. Let's see Chicago come up with a dumb song for this day.

As I post the Bears are doing a great job of answering. I love Championship weekend. :texanbill:

Even though he came from a Pro college set, I remember the word with him coming out was he wasn't very athletic, lacked accuracy on longer passes, and showed poor pocket presence.

Also, Niners had Mike McCarthy as their OC when they drafted Smith. They could have McCarthy and Rodgers right now!

Just curious to know if anyone watching the Bears defense notice any better play out of the DTs than what we've seen from Amobi & Cody?

Not that I necessarily disagree on Amobi's "bust" status. I do however wonder what the expectations of a 4-3 DT should be. More often than not, what I see from Amobi, imo, is pretty much the norm of what 4-3 defenses get out of that position.

I do understand expecting more from the player given his draft position. You take a DT at that spot, you expect Warren Sapp. I get that. But, you don't cut a player because he's not Warren Sapp. You don't bench a player because he's not Warren Sapp...... unless of course you have Warren Sapp on your team.

Anyway..... just saying.

Carr, Harrington, Smith...... all three started a significant number of games their first season in the NFL.

Aaron Rodgers was able to watch, learn, & study before picking up some bad, bad habits.

Of course this is just theory, & we'll never know how things may have turned out, if things went differently.

For one, had the 49ers drafted Aaron Rodgers #1 overall, that coaching/drafting staff at that time would have been under much more scrutiny than they were. Had it not made a difference, & Rodgers performed as poorly as Smith.... that staff may not have been around as long as they were.

It is curious though, that Alex Smith is considered a bust for the work he's done in San Francisco.... Martz however parlayed his time there to a job with the Chicago Bears.

Is it really windy? 49 yard field goal is long but makeable. Or does the cold make that kick unlikely?

Man that Packers defense looks good. The Packers defensive coordinator might make a really good head coach...

It's kinda funny really.

The same was said when he was in Pittsburgh.

The same was said a few years after he was an actual head coach.

Things happened, head coach got blamed. He got fired.

So he goes to another team (actually another expansion team situation) truly made some decisions which warranted scrutiny of his ability....

& now, again....... he appears to have assembled a staff capable of getting talented young men play at an extremely high level. He did an amazing job dealing with injuries & distractions...

funny really...

How can you call that a 3-4 defense?

Their base set (judging by the frequency they use it) is two DL, 4 OLB, 5 DBs.

3rd and 1, time out, telegraphed running play after the time out with a quarterback who's rolling doing the handoff. Sounds familiar.

In year's past, i've been for throwing a qb in the fire if he's a 1st round draft pick. But as years have gone by, i'm kinda changing my tune. I'm seeing more & more of teams having guys do really well after they've sat for a year.

In this "what have you done for me lately" league, it's difficult for a coach to make that decision.

We were an expansion team, we won 4, 6, 7, then 2 games, with Tony Banks on the bench, all the while, setting records for most sacks given up by a team.

What were our expectations? Were we trying to win more games than that? Is that why we were "pressured" to start an inexperienced QB? Is that why we took the risk of ruining him?

Cutler sucks. He should already have about 3 ints in the first half. He does not care is his WR is covered, double covered, or triple covered...he's just going to throw it up for grabs.

I couldn't agree more. The replay shows he wasn't thinking when he threw the football.

Who's GB's secondary coach? those guys are money when the ball is in the air... jesus.

Funny you posted this right after Carr Bomb's assertion that the Packers should have several INTs by now.

Money?? surely you that in a way we don't......

I'm watching this on a DVR, I just noticed that INT off Driver's foot was by a LB. I wish our LBs would be that involved in the passing game...

Cutler sucks, but that particular play was just a great play by Shields imo. Dude high pointed the hell out of that ball.

That last INT, was because of the bump at the LOS. Had it not been for that, Knox would have flew by Shields.

Yeah it was a great athletic play to get the pick, but Cutler should of never thrown the ball....the dude was covered. Jay just doesn't care, he'll still throw the ball. He's turned his WRs into DBs out there.

Knox had about 1/2 a step on him but buck/aikman say that shields is 1 of the fastest guys in the league so...I dunno. One thing's for certain though, If this were our secondary, that would've either been a walk-in TD as Jackson would've fell down @ the LOS trying to bump or Quinn/Jackson would've just gotten run by.

VY, Leinart & Cutler...That vaunted qb class is shaping up to be a joke right now.

That's the Martz offense.

Rodgers is having no problem with the tampa 2 zone D

In other news, Peppers hasn't been much of a factor...he sucks & should be cut....:sarcasm:.....talking to you mario haters.

Cutler is going to be blasted by the fans and media if he doesn't play. Unless it's something extremely severe, he should be out there. Your team is a playing for the friggin Super Bowl! Philip Rivers played with a torn ACL in the playoffs a few years ago. Suck it up.

Note to FOX: The movie industry called, they want their dramatic music score back. :gun: The dude that insists on that crap is getting fired for it someday.

Tom Brady played with a stress fracture in his foot during the season and playoffs. Brett Favre played with a broke everything.

Rick Reilly is right...Jay Cutler doesn't care.
