Rd.1 Justin Blackmon Wr Okla St. Best available at #11, Blackmon will help open up the offense and keep the defense off the field.

Rd.2 Kendrick Ellis DT Hampton, Biggest baddest NT in draft. Texans have needed a DT like this since their inception.

Rd.3 Mark Herzlich LB B.C., I think he probably will go in Rd.2 But everybody else is saying rd 3-5. Herzlich had a very good bowl game. He forced a fumble and caused a fumble. He was very good in pass coverage. Herzlich is always in the right spot at the right time. Playing football means alot to him.

Rd.4 Will Hill FS Fla., Hill has great range and is a playmaker. He would be an immediat upgrade over Wilson. 3 yr starter at Fla. I would trade up to get Hill if I thought he wouldn't be there in the 3rd.

Rd.5 Nate Irving ILB South Car. Fast instictive LB who only falls this far due to injury concerns.

Rd.6 Alex Henery K/P Neb., Massive upgrade over Turk. Big leg, He takes ove Kickoff job from Rackers.

Rd.7 Demond Washington CB Aub., Washington is a really good KR/PR. Upgrade over Jacoby. Has the speed and skill set to be a nickle CB.

Looks great!

Pick by pick analysis:

1) Blackmon could very well be the best receiver in the draft. Big, strong, talented and with a great pair of hands, he has all the physical gifts. I would be satisfied with the pick, but would prefer a defensive player (providing it is not a reach).

2) Money

3) I agree with you, I could see Herzlich in the 2nd. People forget that he was one of the highest rated players in college football before he was diagnosed with cancer. He busted his ass to come back, and played great. One of the best hockey players ever (Mario Lemieux) came back from cancer, after being retired for a couple years, and was still one of the best players in the NHL (in his late 30's). Obviously I am not saying Herzlich is the football version of Lemieux, my point is that a player can overcome cancer and return to form. Good pick.

4) Not wild about the player, but I like the position. I would be satisfied.

5) Good pick, the LB corps should be set with players like Ryans, Cushing, Diles, Sharpton, Barwin, Herzlich and Irving.

6) Money

7) Meh, I think Holliday is the returner of the future. I also think if the Texans are to address the CB position during the draft, it should be at the top of the draft.

Again, good job!

Looks pretty good, but I have a couple of questions. If Blackmon comes out, are you concerned at all that he has had only one productive season, even though that was a monster season? How much of that could have been the system?

Do you think that the level of play at Hampton might elevate the perception of Ellis?

Like the draft overall. But with that draft, I hope we would get some serious secondary help in FA.

Blackmon doesn't concern me. He's a rare talent. Dez Bryant=Blackmon in terms of talent in my eyes. Speed/Cutting ability/Hands/high pointing the ball etc....

Yes, Ellis level of competition concerns me. But I have watched some videos of him and he appeared to be dominate at that level. He moves very well for a big man. I'm looking forward to seeing how he matches up against top level comp. I'm not sure if he's playing in the East/West or Sr. Bowl game. The combine will also be huge for Ellis. With a great combine and pre draft interviews Ellis could go anywhere between rds.1-5. He's a true wildcard in this draft.

I think the Texans will sign a CB like Taylor or Wilson in FA. ASO is a pipe dream. McNair wont be on board with the $$$$ it wil take to sign ASO. Although I dont blame McNair for getting involved in the ASO sweepstakes.

I could see the Texans signing the likes of Taylor,Whitner and Pat Williams in FA. Lower tier FA's who would still be significant upgrades over the product that was put on the field last yr.

I hope McNair listens and gives Phillips what he needs to be successful.

Thanks! As for the bolded, don't we all! I am just happy that we finally have a proven defensive mind in charge of our defense. One that will actually know what is needed.

1. Blackmon, I don't disagree that he is a top level talent at WR and will make some team very happy, but our defense was terrible last year and with the switch to the 3-4 we need all the help we can get especially the top level talent.

2. Ellis, I like the position picked (DT/NT) in the 2nd round and although I haven't seen Ellis play I like Sione Fua-NT or Jerrell Powe-NT better here. Fua and Powe are shorter than Ellis which is an advantage since tall DT's tend to get stood up, much like Frank Okam did, and lose leverage. Ellis is 6'05" which will be a disadvantage for him in the NFL. Also both Fua and Powe played at a higher level of football.

3. Herzlich, more Herzlich man love huh? He loves the game but I think he drops on draft day and could be had much later. I personally wouldn't touch him before the 5th round.

4. Hill, I like this pick but I'd go FS in the 3rd round. Maybe Jarrett.

5. Irving, I'm not familiar with him but he's awfully short at only 6'01" especially in a 3-4 system where LB's are so important.

6. Henrey, excellent pick could possibly even take over K duties in his 2nd year.

7. Washington, I don't know anything about him but extra depth at CB is a good thing and a good PR/KR would be nice.

I understand your points of view in drafting WR to pair with AJ witch is very sexy idea however, I would like for us to draft OLB, FS, DT in first 3 rounds if possible. After that, may be G and other needs like P? For WR, may be late rounds or FA. I hope, Dorin has break out season next year(This is just my dream).

But, it all depends on how we do in FA.

Go Texans!!!

Go Texans!!!

I know he doesn't kickoff for Nebraska. They dont want to get him hurt. He was too valuable to that team. Henery appear to have a very strong leg on FG's and punts.

I'm confident kickoffs wouldn't be a problem.

1. Blackmon represents BPA. I understand what you're saying though. But let me ask you a question. Would you have taken Jackson over Bryant. Even though CB was a huge need. I hope Smithiak learned their lesson and either take Blackmon. Or trade down and fill more holes. Like Dutchrudder suggested in another thread.

2. I like Fua too he would be my 2nd choice at NT. You had some great points with regards to Ellis height. The combine and al star games will tell the tale for Ellis draft position. With a great combine and all star game along with interviewing well Ellis could be a 1st rd pick. He's a big strong guy that can move.

3. I have a man crush on Herzlich. I will admit it. He will be much better next yr than this yr probably.

5. Irving is a fast playmaking LB with a nose for the ball. He would help ad team speed at the LB position. Something that was sorely lacking in LB corps last yr.

Thanks for the feedback, I enjoy differing opinions.

1. In a normal year I may agree with you and take Blackmon, but because we're doing a major overhaul of our defense we need lots of talent and will need the top tier talent especially. #11 is a great spot for a trade down, maybe to the early 20's and pick up an extra 3rd round pick.

2. We're thinking alike just differing on who's the better player.

3. With as many holes as we have on defense I wouldn't spend a 3rd round pick on a probably player. FS is more important than a reach on Herzlich.

4. What happened to #4?

5. He might be fast and a great nose for the ball but an ILB in a 3-4 will be taking on OG/C and FB as their primary responsibility at 6'01" 235lbs. he'll get killed or at best be ineffective.

Let the critques begin

I like your thinking in this one.

1. I wouldn't be opposed to getting a receiver in the 1st round if we can't find anyone on defense who we feel is fair value. We could use an upgrade at every position.

2. I don't know who Ellis is but I like addressing DT/NT in the early rounds.

3. Not sure I would draft Herzlich before the 5th round. He used to be such a great player, but obviously had a few tough years. It's hard for me to put a number to how confident I am that he will return to form and grow past that. I like addressing LB, even though I feel we need an OLB more than an ILB. That is assuming Herzlich is used at ILB.

4. I prefer Ahmad Black over Will Hill. Will Hill is more athletic, but Ahmad Black seems to be more accountable and he does have the benefit of experience. He played in alot of big games in his career at Florida. He was definitely the leader of that secondary for Florida for atleast a year. He's also pretty athletic himself and fits the need of FS, whereas Hill looks more like a SS to me.

5. Are you talking about Nate Irving from NC State? I would think he would be higher rated than the 5th round, but I haven't checked. He'd be a good prospect for an ILB in a 3-4. I have had a chance to watch Irving play for 3 years now and he is very fun to watch. He's always flying around the ball and is a good blitzer from the inside. Kudos for mentioning him, he is one of my favorite guys this year.

6. We need special teamers, P or K.

7. I've noticed him in 2 or 3 of Auburn's games this year. He looks average. I'm not a big fan of grabbing a corner in the late rounds this year. We have plenty of young inexperienced corners.

If I were Rick Smith my plan would be to add atleast 1 safety, 2 linebackers, and 2 defensive lineman through the draft. A draft like the above would be close enough based on available players. I'd be happy with the positions addressed in this draft.

Drafting a receiver would be an unusual move by the team, but maybe the cure for our defense is for it to not be on the field as much as possible. Keep the offense on and go on long drives that eat up time, tire the defense, plus it increases the chance of scoring points. I doubt the Texans will go this route unless they can fix the defense through free agency.

I saw Herzlich play at WILL in a couple of games for BC this year.
I think he played MIKE before cancer.

I thought Hill play FS and Black play SS for the Gators ?!?

1. Agreed

2. One day I like Ellis the next day I like Fua. After the Combine we will have a better feel for who's better.

3. Herzlich=Man crush, I would play him at ILB and keep Cushing outside. He played the hybrid OLB at USC.

4. I'm hoping for a way that the Texans (Duntas comp pick) that the Texans can get both Black and Hill in Rds 3-4. Wouldn't it be a good thing to have college teammates starting at the S positions. Pollard was terrible in coverage and Hill has the athleticism that Pollard lacks. I can see your point about Black. But he wont be available in rd.4

5. Im hoping Irving falls to the 5th because of his injury history. He's a really good player and I'm not one of these you have to be a certian size to play ILB. (ex.Sam Mills)

6. Agreed

7. Washington will be drafted for his return skills. He has the ability to develop into a CB that can play. Think McCann that plays for the Cowgirls.

I thought Hill played FS too. Maybe they played the interchangeable S thing.

On a side note Kuechly looks like the 2nd coming of Zack Thomas. Very insinctive, one of the best I've seen at diagnosing plays. What do you think of him?

It's funny how Blackmon & Julio Jones camps split opinion about who is better. I'm in the Julio camp for Texans.

If Wade doesn't need that big traditional NT why spend a high pick on one when their are other needs & bpa's available?

I will respect your man-love, no comment.

Hill in 4th would be good if the Texans don't address FS in 2nd or 3rd.

So. Carolina ILB good pick.

someone, somewhere brought up the point why draft a punter/kicker when you can pick one up undrafted?

with the way Texan secondary played is it possible a 7th rd. pick could make the 53 man roster, but I doubt it?

:)

I thought Hill play FS and Black play SS for the Gators ?!?

I think that is how they were listed but it seemed like Black was always the better safety in coverage. Black had 13 career INTs, Hill had 4.

The downside to Black is his size at 5'9 190. Hill is 6'1 207.

My favorite safeties in the draft are Deunta Williams at FS, DeAndre McDaniel at SS, Mark Barron at SS and Quinton Carter at FS.

I'd take McDaniel, Williams, or Barron in the second round. I would take Carter in the third. We need one of these guys, or a competent safety. We can no longer leave it unaddressed.

I'm not as high on McDaniel as you are. I question his intelligence.

Barron is a player. How far do you think Williams will fall due to his broken leg? 3/4th RD ?

I like Jones too. But I'm liking Blackmon more. (Better hands)

Like the 2nd rd BPA thing. Who are soe of the lighter NT's that you think may be available later? Larimore? Liguet?

Drake Nevis could be a very athletic nose. He has a low center point, uses excellent leverage & body lean. think he is only 6-1 probably fills out in the 295-305 range.

IF Drake is off the board, might take a chance here on Marivn Austin. he looks the part 6-2 315 but very quick, should time in under 5.0 sec 40 @ combine I see his stock rising over the next four months. Elite athlete.

I understand Blackmon has more wow factor but Jones is way more polished & can have an immediate impact for the Texans I have no doubt about him on or off the field.

I've never been sold on Will Hill. He just looks a step slow on too many occassions.

Williams suffered his injury at the worst time possible for him. I think he was a borderline first rounder before the injury, now he looks like a second rounder maybe worse if he doesn't rehab well.

I am in the Julio Jones camp. He has been doing it for several years too, Blackmon has only done it for one year. It would be ideal for Julio Jones to learn from a guy of similar size in Andre Johnson.

I agree you can't just pick a player cause you need to fill the position. That's why you sign free agents. They make it where you don't have to horribly reach for a player because you dont have the position filled *cough* Jackson *cough*

Agreed

Smith needs to stop reaching to fill needs in the draft. Look at his 1st rd picks in the 4 yrs that he's run the draft.

2007 OkOye, Filled a need but it was a reach to pick an 18yr old with the 10th pick in the draft.

2008 D.Brown, Reach, many people had Brown rated as a 3rd rd pick. Smith reaches to fill the LT need in the 1st rd. Brown has played like a serviceale LT 3rd rd pick that he should've been.

2009 Cushing, This wasn't a reach but Cushing was drafted to fill a need. Who knows if Cushing was rookie good or 2nd yr roid free guy.

2010 Jackson, reach, Anybody that saw him play this yr would say Jackson was a reach. But Smith had to fill the need he created by failing to re-sign Dunta.

This is how you end up 6-10,9-7 mediocrity. I'm sure Kubiak had alot to do with this drafting philosopy. Rick take the BPA or try to trade down and aquire moe picks. Otherwise this franchise will stay stuck in mediocrity. The future isn't looking to bright right now. IMHO

I do not have a problem with going BPA. If Blackmon is truly that guy here, lets get him.

What I do have a problem with, is Kubiak's ability to get all these pieces involved on game day. The man can't seem to put together a run game with Ward, Slaton, & Foster. Wk 1 against Indy, the game against the Raiders.... we should see something like that everygame, & Kubiak should be the guy to do it, but..... he's not.

We also have trouble getting Anderson, Jacoby, & Walter snaps..... Dickerson doesn't see the field unless someone is hurt.

If we get this guy..... Jacoby's got to go... I'm fine with that as well. But I don't see the point in adding a WR to the Gumbo, if we're going to leave him on the shelf.

Rd.2 Kendrick Ellis DT Hampton, Biggest baddest NT in draft. Texans have needed a DT like this since their inception.
I have no problem with this.
I like LBs.

So we let Diles walk? dump Adibi? Cut Bently?
Rd.4 Will Hill FS Fla., Hill has great range and is a playmaker. He would be an immediat upgrade over Wilson. 3 yr starter at Fla. I would trade up to get Hill if I thought he wouldn't be there in the 3rd.
I like it.
Rd.5 Nate Irving ILB South Car. Fast instictive LB who only falls this far due to injury concerns.

I'm still good.
Rd.6 Alex Henery K/P Neb., Massive upgrade over Turk. Big leg, He takes ove Kickoff job from Rackers.
I'd rather go UDFA for a K/P

would rather see another DT/NT here. Maybe even your DB/KR
Rd.7 Demond Washington CB Aub., Washington is a really good KR/PR. Upgrade over Jacoby. Has the speed and skill set to be a nickle CB.
I like, but like I just said, if we go DB/KR in the sixth, I'd just as soon get another DT/NT
Let the critques begin

I like it....... more or less.

Okoye had a breakout season & followed it up with mvp performance in Senior Bowl, alot of NFL people where talking top 5 pick material, combine that with Texnas need for interior penetrating DT. you can't fault Rick Smith for his thinking, now we'll see what happens with NEW coaching in a NEW scheme.

Brown, who I gave a early 2nd rd. grade & there were reports San Diego would have selected him with the very next pick, filled a long, long, long coveted needs us a fans who wanted to address the OL cried about for years. He's actually been very consistant & reliable. The only blip was his four game suspension for banned substance. I've grown to like his attitude, has some nasty in him & athletic, smash mouth style (poor mans Levi Brown).

Everybody loved Cushing as a rookie. DROY in NFL, then his issues with banned substance & appears to have lost that explosive playmaking ability in his second year. He looked lost in Frank Bushes 2nd year as defensive coordinator but then who didn't? before we bury the guy after one down season lets see what he can do with better scheme & Wade Phillips coaching.

Kareem Jackson was also another early 2nd rd. grade prospect coming out, but I think a bigger reason for this than anything is because he waited until the last minute to declare for the draft & flew under everybodys radar out in cyber draft land until the combine. There he solidified himself as legitimate 1st rd. cb. While not on our draft board as high as McCourtey or Kyle Wilson, he was in the discussion, to the Texans he fit what they wanted out of position, just didn't work out. Now the defensive coordinator is fired along with his db coach David Gibbs, wish those gentleman well but you have to produce in the league to keep your job, while the jury is out on Kareem give him two more years in a new system before we start calling him bust.

Just the homer in me coming out I guess, but I think their mediocrity maybe behind them. This draft combined with proper utilization of talent we as Texan fans should expect a marked improvement. They've got a shot at two of the best FA CB's to come out in a long time. Wade also knows the players around the league, with a fresh outlook from what we've grown accustomed to (Denver jokes) so McNair can finally bid with confidence. Can anyone blame Bob McNair from spending on Big Free Agent signings with Casserly & Smiths track record? would you spend millions of your money (I know you have it) with results so far during Texans franchise history? I think not :roast:

Of course I agree with you guys on bpa in general terms, heck I'm the guy who always wants to trade back, but I really feel the dynamics have changed & the Texans will do a better job of drafting bpa for a position of need, then once in camp will do a better job developing & implementing them for future success.

Must spread rep... you said it well.

Blackmon/Julio Jones are the type of guys that take bland gumbo spice it up and make it MM-MM Good. You find a way to get guys like this the ball.

I have no problem with this.

I keep going back and forth between Fua and Ellis. Regardless They need a big DT that can stop the run. No more Garrard sneaking for 3 yds on 4th and 1 for a 1st down.

I like LBs.

So we let Diles walk? dump Adibi? Cut Bently?

I let Diles walk and Irving and Adibi fight it out for the last LB spot. Wouldn't it be great to have depth that wasn't hurt at the LB spot.

I like it.

Thanks great minds think alike. LOL

I'm still good.

See above

I'd rather go UDFA for a K/P

would rather see another DT/NT here. Maybe even your DB/KR

Dexter Larimore would be a good pick here. However a P Like Henery/Henry would make a bigger impact on the team than an extra NT.

I like, but like I just said, if we go DB/KR in the sixth, I'd just as soon get another DT/NT

Going DT here wouldn't be a bad bet. Somebody who I really like but has been injured alot and may fall to this spot is Adrian Taylor DT Okla. You probably would have to IR him next yr. But the guy is a player and in 2 yrs he could be a great value.

I like it....... more or less.

Thanks for replying, This draft would add some much needed speed to the team. The ST's would also be much improved.

Great post

The only two picks that I really disagreed with were I wanted Willis over OkOye. Although I will admit I wasn't upset with the OkOye pick. Looking back drafting an 18 yr old DT and expecting him to contribute was unrealistic.

I also wanted Matthews/Oher over Cushing. I can understand the reasoning behind the Cushing pick though.

Hopefully the dynamics in the war room have changed. Or medicrity will continue to thrive. The Coaching staff has done terrible job of developing young players. So it's hard to tell if it's on the scouts/Smith or the coaches/Kubiak. Most likely it's a combination of the two.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Bummer, I guess. No Blackmon, No Luck. Say that in a jamaican voice in it takes on a whole different meaning. lol

Guess that makes Julio Jones the clear cut #2 wideout in the draft and possibly an option for us. Still may be a longshot of us going O in 1st. Some of yall liked Jones better anyways.

Wow

This could turn into a positive if a team that needs a WR will feel more compelledto trade up with one less WR on the board.

With Luck and now Blackmon staying in school it's looking more and more like a trade down would be in our best interest and the #11 spot is perfect for it.

Rd.1 Justin Blackmon Wr Okla St. Best available at #11, Blackmon will help open up the offense and keep the defense off the field.

If Jones or Green are there , then you'd have to take or trade the pick . The other players probably there with value are OLB or a 3-4 DE .

Rd.2 Kendrick Ellis DT Hampton, Biggest baddest NT in draft. Texans have needed a DT like this since their inception.

A 340 guy with athletism is hard to find , now if he has a motor .

You just have to love this guy . Pure football player , brings a lot of want too to a team that's shown a lack of it .

Rd.4 Will Hill FS Fla., Hill has great range and is a playmaker. He would be an immediat upgrade over Wilson. 3 yr starter at Fla. I would trade up to get Hill if I thought he wouldn't be there in the 3rd.

A need for sure

Rd.5 Nate Irving ILB South Car. Fast instictive LB who only falls this far due to injury concerns.

You always need more LBs ... ours are getting old and beat up ... they make great special team players .

Rd.6 Alex Henery K/P Neb., Massive upgrade over Turk. Big leg, He takes ove Kickoff job from Rackers.

I wanted a punter last year .

Rd.7 Demond Washington CB Aub., Washington is a really good KR/PR. Upgrade over Jacoby. Has the speed and skill set to be a nickle CB.

I think JJ is done here and our returns stink so finding a guy who can make plays is a need . I was hoping for a TE somewhere .

Let the critques begin

Good job so early .

I'will take the better athlete.(Hil) It will be a joy having S that have the athleticism to provide help over the top. Their S have never beemn able to provide this.

I'm not as high on McDaniel as you are. I question his intelligence.

Barron is a player. How far do you think Williams will fall due to his broken leg? 3/4th RD ?

I like Hill's atheleticism, but I'm not so sure about his ability to read plays.
Black seems to be around the ball more.
I know they switch once in a while, but mostly Black play SS.
It seems like the rover is in vogue nowadays.
Black, Barron and Hagg would step up to take the slot receiver quite often.
(I believe this is how they make more plays, like Patrick Chung with the Ducks).

I thought Hill played FS too. Maybe they played the interchangeable S thing.

On a side note Kuechly looks like the 2nd coming of Zack Thomas. Very insinctive, one of the best I've seen at diagnosing plays. What do you think of him?

I've now watched 3 BC games:
VTech and Nevada playing mostly a 3-WR set
NDame playing mostly a single back, 4-WR spread

They put Herzlich on the slot receiver (or the TE that lined up in the slot).
This is the reason why his numbers are down.

As much as the scheme reduces Herzlich's numbers, it gives Kuechly more chances to make a tackle, which he does very well.
The Eagles play a 2-gap defense up front for the most part (which makes sense since they only have 2 LBs to play the run.)
They have 2 Sr DEs that can contain the edge, both on-side and back-side.
In other instances, they can flush the play wide, giving the LB time to pursue.
The NT and UT did a pretty good job holding up the middle (sustaining the double team from time to time).
This helps Kuechly make plays, but of course, he's also a fine player.

Kuechly isn't a freak like Cushing or Matthews.
He's not very fast; he's not very quick, he's not very strong.
What he does very well is to read his keys and diagnose the plays.
(Not a 100%, but I'd say close to 95%).
So, for example, when he notices the linemen firing out to run block, he would be ready to flow where the double team is (most likely, that would be the POA).
If the tackle can take on the double team, he has got a free gap to shoot.
If one of the O-linemen were able to release to the next level, Kuechly can slip of his block with high efficiency.

He's not strong like Sharpton to shed of the block and engage, but he uses his hands, arms, legs, his whole body very well to slip of the block. You don't see the O-lineman holding on to him for long.
This is the other thing that he does very well.

When a lineman pulls, he knows where the run goes.
He can see the draw play coming as to how the linemen block (he can make out their best disguise.)
He understand when and how a reverse maybe coming.
He hardly ever bite on a play fake.

Basically, he's a very smart and disciplined player.
Because of that, he also drops into coverage very well.
This is one of the two type of players that I like. (Kareem Jackson is in this mold.)

The other type, of course, is the freakish type at their position, like Mario Williams or Andre Johnson.

I've now watched 3 BC games:

NDame playing mostly a single back, 4-WR spread

Thanks for the reply

I didn't think my eyes were failing me when it came to Keuchly.

If Herzlich fell to the 3rd rd he would be a steal. He's 80% of what he used to be and he would still be better than any LB on the team at covering a TE. Herzlich should be a better player nxt yr, than he was this yr.

In Phillips cover schemes Black may be a better fit than Hill. Although Hill is a good player too. Hill would be the most athletic FS in Texans history. (Coleman was about done when they moved him to FS) That is a sad legacy.

Now that Tyler Sash has declared how do you think he would fit into Phillips scheme?

I really appreciate all of the time that you put into watching film. You would be a better scout than are currently on the Texans staff.

Thanks

Jay

I loved to watch Herzlich in his Soph year.
I think he has the combination of smart and skills to play on Sunday.
I've yet to watch all his games this year, so I can't grade him yet.
But if we can pick him up in the third, right now I would have to agree to the term STEAL.

As far as safeties are concerned, again, I just started to study these guys, so I can't be sure as how to rank them yet.
I did watch Sash (E.Wash, Iowa St. and the first quarter of the Az. games - the first 3 weeks).
Just as with the others (Barron, Black, Hagg) there are some things to like and something to guard against.

I watched McDaniel (Clemson) and Johhson (Boise St) last year but haven't seen them this year to chart their progress.

The field is wide open right now.
Also, Robert Sands may find himself playing SS in the NFL.

I will have to come back to Sash later when I have more time.

The last couple of weeks, I've been perusing through Phillips' playbook when he was in Atlanta in 03. He has probably tweaked it some. I have some Cowboys games the last two years that I like to wacth to see how the scheme has evolved.
So much to watch and so little time!
