Harbaugh to 49ers

Start by getting another QB.

Alex Smith has shown flashes of being good, reminds me of Trent Dilfer in terms of having ups and downs. I have to feel for the guy since he's had different OCs and HCs during he career.

However, I hope Jim Harbuagh is able to finally turn this team around and get them into the playoffs. If Carrol's Seahawks can do it, the 49ers should be able to as well.

I have not been impressed with Troy or Alex Smith.

Alex Smith is a Free Agent and does not want to come back nor do the 49ers want him back. Troy Smith is a FA he only signed a one year deal with the niners. Doubt he will be back unless he comes cheap as a Back up. Carr will get cut I hope he is the last person I want to see throwing a football for the niners because of him, we lost a game against the Panthers.

I am sure the 49ers will draft a QB and either trade or pick up a Vet QB. All depends on who Harbaugh picks as his OC. I figure most of his coaches from Stanford will come over.

I hope so because I am not one who likes to see any team do poorly.

Best team he could of went to.

A team with some very good talent in a horrendous division and close to home.

Now if he can just have Andrew Luck enter the draft, pull a Eli Manning, and get to the 49ers.

You want the Titans, Colts, and Jags to do good gary? :foottap:

I wonder, with Harbaugh with the 49ers, does Andrew Luck change his mind and say he want's to go to the NFL? Next few days could be interesting...

Yes, because every team fighting at the end of the season makes for great fun.

i go browse from time to time......when's the new site going up :spin:

I have no idea when the new site is going up. I've emailed the 49ers and so far Scott, has not gotten back to me. Though, I can understand not hearing from him with all the excitement going on..

I'll email Scott, again this weekend.

Remind me again how college coaches have done moving to the NFL?

Ridiculous angle.....absolutely ridiculous.
If Vince Lombardi had decided to coach at Notre Dame for two years before taking over Green Bay, would he have then by default been a bad coach?

Just a dumb, dumb train of logic there.

I think the point is that there is something to coming into the NFL as assistant coaches first. Learning the ropes and working your way up to a head coaching position.

Jim Harbaugh has the deck stacked against him for sure.

Harbaugh coached in the NFL already..Raiders from 2002 to 2003 and then went to college. His brother is a top NFL coach. He has played in the league. Big difference. People buy into his system and he is at a place where the father of the West Coast offense used to coach...the system he used at Stanford. I don't think the deck is against him.

Exactly, Jim Harbaugh has experience and will have a good shot at being successful. There are plenty of other college coaches that probably wouldn't make the jump successfully, like a Mack Brown or Jim Tressel, because they lack any NFL background. Jim's been there before, so it's not like he's getting thrown in the deep end for the first time.

I honestly think he's about as sure a bet to be a great HC in the league as there ever has been. For 1, that family..football runs in their veins. In addition to that, he's played & coached in the NFL & had success being a HC at college program.

He's probably the most qualified HC candidate since his brother lol!

I think one of the things that helped Jimmy Johnson was his experience as a college HC. Recruiting players, bringing a bunch of young men together & convincing them they could win. That loser mentality the Cowboys had was quickly purged with the introduction of a lot of young draft picks.

Sometimes I wonder what it would have been like for the Texans, had we got a college head coach, who knows how to address a team, how to focus minds, how to get a bunch of guys with no reason to believe they could win, to believe they could win.

A college coach also knows that nobody is worried about tomorrow, got to win today.

It's been my opinion, that Kubiak is always working on something. Running, blocking, routes, short yardage, red zone.... & not about winning games.

& if you think about it, under Shanahan, that's all he had to worry about. Shanahan won games. Kubiak stayed employed as long as they were gaining yards, scoring points, making highlight reels.

I don't know if that's the way it is.... just a feeling I get.
