Tucker Carlson: Michael Vick should have been executed

In the two days since Peter King first reported on Football Night in America that President Obama had applauded the Eagles for giving Michael Vick a second chance, the story has moved from the sports world into cable news — where there have been some harsh comments for Vick and for Obama.

On Monday there was a fierce debate on Fox News Channel about the matter, but that was nothing compared to what Tucker Carlson said on Tuesday about Vick.

“I’m a Christian, I’ve made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances,” Carlson said. “But Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did in a heartless and cruel way. And I think, personally, he should’ve been executed for that. He wasn’t, but the idea that the President of the United States would be getting behind someone who murdered dogs?”

If Carlson supports the death penalty for involvement in dog fighting, his version of Christianity is more of the Old Testament than New Testament variety. For its part the White House says that the purpose of Obama’s call to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie was to discuss the use of alternative energy at Lincoln Financial Field, and that when the subject of Vick came up, Obama said that he condemns Vick’s crimes but believes convicted criminals should have a chance to contribute to society when they are released from prison.

His version of Christianity has NOTHING to do with either the Christianity or the Judaism in the Bible. Like it or not, the Bible does not place much value on animal life. Had he slaughtered them all for food and given the meat to the poor, Jesus would have praised him (barring the illegality of it here of course, which still might not matter to Him when comapared to starving PEOPLE).
 
As a Giants fan I can't argue with his logic. If not for Vick the Giants would easily be sitting there with a bye and the 2nd seed.
 
When put in to proper perspective, one could easily see these pundits
need to shut up about Vick and dogs.

Vick is a POS, plain and simple. Always has been, and always well, well :thinking:

..... can't say always will be. Mike seems to have turned his life in a positive direction and good for him. I agree that people need to learn how to give others a second chance. Dude did his time and seems to be on the right path.

Vick is a POS heartless prick, and I hate how people act like this is an upbeat feel good story. He didn't over come a deadly disease or a terrible injury. He didn't beat alcoholism or drug addiction. He viciously murdered dogs. Dogs are innocents almost like children are. They can't really defend themselves and he committed horrible acts on them. I find it highly disturbing how short peoples memory can be when you can throw a football or hit a jump shot.

There are far worse crimes that need your outrage, than what Vick did.
This man needs to win a Superbowl to shut a lot of these people up.

If one didn't know any better, you could be led to think Vick actually
killed people!

No one is forgetting about what he did, it comes up during every game he has played. The thing is, he served his time in prison to atone for his actions. What more does he need to do? This wasn't like a Lindsay Lohan - serve half the time the judge ordered - deal. If you think he should have been punished more harshly, then take it up with the animal abuse laws of the state or the judge on his case. Otherwise, I don't really see what the big deal is regarding his story.

Spending 2 years away from the game, and being able to come back even better than he was before is pretty amazing. The guy is an electrifying player on the field and deserves to play until he screws up again, or retires. Can't say I'll be rooting for him, but I respect his right to play.

The state didn't prosecute him even though they had a full confession so he got off easy there.

Having said that he did the time he was instructed to do and has made an amazing comeback. What he did shouldn't be forgotten but at this point it should be forgiven.
 
The media has forgotten that Vick killed dogs, just like they forgot that Big Ben probably raped some people.

You can't put a downer on the highlights when you're going for the playoff ratings.

Dude paid his debt to society and save the unfortunate shooting at his birthday party, he's done everything right since his release. Nothing wrong with giving a man a second chance after he's done his time.

Agreed! I don't like the guy, but he did the time and appears to be headed in the right direction. I've seen a few Eagles games and the dude can play ball. His arm seems better than it was before and he still has the speed.

I have to admit, as much as I dislike what the dude's done in his past, he's been a blast to watch this season.

That's cool, to each his own. The only Vick game I have watched is when we played them. I refuse to watch him. It's my choice. I agree he did his time, but all is not forgiven. I will never be a fan of his again. And while they bring up what he did, they almost do it to make the "story" sound better. I just feel when it comes to Vick that all seems forgiven way to easily. Especially in the off season when he pulls a 60 million dollar contract.

Damn man, electrocuting and drowning dogs is a pretty damn big deal. That's part of the sociopath list of warning signs. It's a sick thing. It's attacking a creature that can't do a ****ing thing to defend themselves. I don't get how people can just shrug it off and say "it's just dogs".

Oh, and for the record, I don't think he should be executed.

People will overlook just about anything if you entertain them enough. We are a rather shallow culture in that regard.

I have not forgiven.. I just believe in second chances. It's gonna take him being a model citizen for a very long time for me to forgive. In the meantime, he should get that chance.
 
he served his time and is getting his second chance or whatever...doesn't mean i hafta like or watch him...i still think he's an ahole...

While I agree, I don't need him shoved down my throat non stop. I don't need to hear about how "feel good" of a story it is. That's all I'm basically saying.

"Some" in Atlanta think Vick was "set up" by Arthur Blank to get out of the contract, or was "framed" by the Feds, or worst of all.... "what he did doesn't warrant spending two years in the Pen."
