Kubiak comes out and says "Houston should expect a champion"

Like I said a few weeks back, I'm not going to pile on Kubiak anymore. It isn't his fault that he's still employed here. All the criticism now rests at the feet of McNair.

And no one should expect Kubiak to resign because he's getting paid. I wish McNair had a little Jerry Jones in him.

You're right about that. Say what you want about Jerry Jones and his decisions, but there's no doubt that he wants to win. He may not always pursue it in the right fashion, but he craves for more championships.

McNair has only shown me apathy and being satisfied with mediocrity. The team builds off of that and accepts mediocrity. I hope I'm wrong and McNair makes some drastic changes. We'll see...

In his second season as HC, Raheem Morris (Bucs coach) was able to pull get more wins than Kubiak has ever had as a Texans HC. They would have made the playoffs had the Packers lost, I believe. Shame isn't it? McNair needs to realize stuff like that and fire Kubiak. The way he accepts being average is just amazing to me.

This pretty much sums up how I feel. I typed out a nice long post on Herv's thread only to lose it in cyberspace because the thread closed before my post submitted.

Absolutely right but we can't fire the owner. I'm hoping he will see more empty stadiums next year. Maybe that will get the point across?

& we'd have made the play-offs had the Jets lost one more game last year.

Same difference.

Raheem has 10 wins, their only "quality" win came last night against the Saints, when the Saints determination to win might have been suspect. Similar to our win against the Patriots last season.

I'm not defending Kubiak.... I don't believe he needs to be here any longer. But this argument is weak.

Big difference. Raheem is only in his SECOND season as a head coach,
with a second-year QB, AND the true "Youngest Team in the NFL."
Not to mention, they finished 6-2 on the road, 8-4 in conference, and 3-3 in
their very tough division. The Bucs have passed all indicators
that show they are a REAL playoff contender. Kubiak has yet to
post a winning conference record, or winning division record.

Raheem is LEAGUES better than Kubiak, and it only took his SECOND
season to prove it.

Don't try to talk sense to the Kool-Aid drinkers. :chef:

I think Bob McNair wants to win...his main problem is that he doesn't HATE LOSING. You can see that Jerry Jones hates every loss. That's why he'll at least try to make a splash with FA's and coaching changes. Now we're looking at his scraps.

This is what qualifies you as a Kubiak fan.

I pointed out that Kubiak fans, because they root for Kubiak "to succeed," will find excuses and rationalize and justify any negatives away with the wave of a hand.

Second season coach, second season QB, ghosts at WR and RB whom I don't see as being the same caliber of AJ and Foster, a head case at TE, and a defense that I don't see being hyped up by any sports media talking heads.

We can do better than what we have.

This.

Don't settle for mediocrity, that's how you end up with a bunch of kids and a nasty divorce years later. Unfortunately, the Kubiak/McNair relationship isn't going to have a nasty ending any time soon, and part of me thinks they are staying together for the kids...

You need to watch your choice of metaphors. Sometimes parents staying togeather for the kids is the right thing to do. I don't think Kubiak staying is the right thing to do.

In any case, I'd imagine we'll find out today what Uncle Bob is thinking.

The bucs have passed nothing. With them having done everything you said, it still results in NO PLAYOFFS.

The fact that its his 2nd year is inconsequential. Like you guys like to say, its a results driven business right? What will you say if Morris goes on to have 3 more seasons of non-playoff football? Will he be the utter failure that kubiak is right now too? There's no need to sqew reality to prove what we already know with kubiak.

That's just haterade talking. The Bucs record is the same smoke & mirrors we see from the Texans "usual" 4 game win streak at the end of the season.

5 seasons is enough time for any coach to make a team a play-off contender. We aren't. We had 8 games against teams with winning records, we won 3 of them. That's not going to cut it. That's not as competitive as this team should be.

That's enough reason to fire Kubiak, without comparing him to the Bucs & their weak schedule.

Kubiak has never had a schedule below .500. The Bucs played a .480

It's apples & oranges.

Compare this team to the Jets, the Ravens, & the Steelers who were all 9-7 just like we were a year ago. Compare us to the Jags who had virtually the same schedule.

The end result is just as bad, the argument is more accurate.

:mariopalm:

In 2006 we played a .523 schedule
In 2007 we played a .504 schedule
In 2008 we played a .547 schedule
In 2009 we played a .506 schedule
In 2010 we played a .547 schedule

None of this exonerates Kubiak IMO.... so don't twist what I'm saying. Comparing him to Raheem Morris again, IMO, is weak.

Kubiak comes out and says "Houston should expect a champion"

Good. Hopefully this means that he quits.

:flush:

ARE YOU SERIOUS??? They went freaking 10-6! A record Kubiak has never achieved here. In a normal year, 10-6 will get you into the playoffs, but there were other 10-6 teams in the NFC, so the Bucs got kicked out. The Texans were lucky to reach 9-7 in 2009. And we've had five seasons now of non-playoff football in Houston, yet you still seem to want Kubiak back.

:mariopalm: In a normal year, the Colts run away with our division & we have virtually no shot at the playoffs much less the division. In a normal year, a 7-9 team doesn't make the playoffs like the seahawks did sunday night. This obviously isn't a normal year & in this year, 10-6 equals no playoffs....Doesn't matter how you & others try to spin it.

As for the bolded, i'm not even gonna touch it simply b/c no where in my post(s) have i said the guy should be back.

Wow. :mariopalm:

A record of 10-6 would have gotten the Bucs into the playoffs easily, but there were too many other 10-6 teams for that to happen. That's where your logic is seriously flawed. It's like complaining that Bill Belichick didn't make the playoffs with the Patriots in the 2008 season, but they went 11-5. If Kubiak went 10-6 or 11-5 this year and we didn't make the playoffs, I'd be all for keeping him another year. But he didn't. His team regressed by three games from the year before, and have the same record as his rookie HC season. There is no improvement record wise, just stats.

And yeah, the Colts usually run away with the division, but they didn't. The division title was for the Texans to take, but in typical fashion, they found creative ways to lose games.

I can sit here & play the "what if" game all day for the texans but at the end of the day "if" didn't happen & we didn't make the playoffs. Whether you look at it from the stand point is on you, but that's basically what you're saying for the bucs.

Your logic is faulty simply b/c there was a track record with Belichick taking his team to the playoffs.....Morris not so much. You're assuming too many things, mainly that the bucs are indeed that good of a team to begin with. We all saw how the the 10-6 Dolphins in 2009 fell flat on their face after their playoff appearance the year before.....they've yet to get up. The same for the division winning Bengals last year... Besides, The bucs schedule was putrid & they only went 3-3 in their division b/c they have the horrid panthers in their division & NO basically mailed it in the last game of the season. When they did face a formibable opponent, they lost! Sound familiar?

And you're still not grasping the fact that regardless, they still didn't make the playoffs.

Hmmm, Houston SHOULD expect a champion VS Houston WILL have a champion....

Gary Kubiak, you got one last shot and anything other then the playoffs will result in your firing or me refusing to support the Texans.

Let's not compare records about who's 10-6 record would do what in a normal year.

Let's just put it this way

2008
2-4 vs division

1-3 in November

2009

1-5 vs Division

1-3 in November

2010

3-3 vs Division

1-4 in November

Because the truth is, in a normal or abnormal season, the division winner goes to the playoffs. Over the past 3 years the best (I'm leaving the 6-10 in 06 and 8-8 in 07 out because those teams really weren't that good and we were lucky to be 8-8)division record we could put up is 3-3 (just like Capers). Also November always tells you if you are a contender or not and we just consistently have only won 1 game in that month. Not only do we not win in the division or in the month of November but we look like a team not prepared to win in the division or in the month of November.

Going by your logic, the Texans AREN'T a good team and do need a new head coach. Still, the record doesn't lie. Morris and the Bucs are better than the Texans. He has led them to more wins than Kubiak has and Kubiak has been here for FIVE years now. Morris is in just his second year. It's funny watching you squirm and try to find the smallest way to discredit Morris and what he did with the Bucs this year. If we went 10-6 this year with no playoffs, the board would be buzzing and Kubiak would get another extension.

Let's not compare records about who's 10-6 record would do what in a normal year.

Exactly. The Bucs were able to win in November. The Texans didn't and haven't done so under Kubiak. Can't really compare the two. One is headed in the right direction, the other is back to his W-L record when he was a rookie head coach in this league.

No squirming here bud.

We were headed in the right direction just last year & folks were calling for kubiak's head basically saying that he was the reason we weren't in the playoffs. So that nonsense about the board buzzing is just that....nonsense.

& who said the texans were a good team? i surely didn't. It's like parcells said, you are what your record says you are & this year the bucs ARE better. Still doesn't make them a playoff team this year no more than it did for us last year when our post season hopes came down to the jets & the bengals. We will see what the bucs look like next year when they're schedule is kicked up a notch.

If we went 10-6 this year with no playoffs, the board would be buzzing and Kubiak would get another extension.

I don't think so. If we had the Buc's schedule & only went 10-6, I think our fans would know better.

9-7 against our 2009 schedule (which was tougher than the Buc's 2010 schedule) wasn't good enough for Texan's fans.

10-6 against that weak schedule & no play-offs... not acceptable.
