OK, not many positive things to talk about here in Texansland with the exception of a possible coaching shake up. As great as it sounds to change coaches it's not going to be all champagne and velvet ropes in year one, with Coaching changes come roster and style changes and that takes time to get implemented.
With all this fun stuff in mind I post this thread to get everyones thoughts on the coach they want and more importantly what will we see in 2011 if your guy is hired. Tell us who your guys is and what major changes will take place withing reason. I'll start it off.
New HC: Bill Cowher (Mainly because he brings instant respectability to a team that needs some desprately)
Record: 9-7
Overall: Team evolves into a tougher team (Duh), bigger stronger and hopefully better. Cowher gives this team confidence. The Offense is allready strong, some because of the roster some because of the scheme. The Defense has some major holes, but has some real talent as well, so a coaching change could theoretically make this side of the ball better by default. The one major problem will be changes, the Roster is a little lite for Cowher, can he move folks around and make it work early on?
Offense: Power Scheme eventually, but use of some of the high power aspects of the Offense during the transition. Perhaps Dennison stays on for a couple of years to help out with the Denver style since the roster is built this way.
QB: Schaub stays, he's solid and can help out with the Denver Style of Offense. If Dennison stay Schaub will be the assistant OC, and will be allowed to call more audibles, he knows the scheme and needs a longer leash. His heir apparent is drafting in 2-3 years to give the team some options.
RB: Although Kubiaks regime drafted "One Cut Runners", Foster stays because it appears he can play in any scheme. Also Ward fits nicely, and Tate should fit in well also.
FB: Do I need to even comment.
WR: #80, #83, fit the scheme well, who knows with #12. Dickerson should fit in well with his size if he gets past his rawness. The rest will probably stay with the exception of Davis.
TE: I would trade OD for what I could get, maybe a 3rd Rounder (Maybe), Dressen takes over as the better blocker, if Casey can get batter a blocking he stays as well.
OL: Cowher tell the entire OL to head top Denny's and not to come back to camp until they gain 25 lbs. All kidding aside it really depends how fast Cowher wants to make the change. Perhaps some of the Tackles could move to OG, and Caldwell takes over snapping, and they pursue some OT's in FA, or the Draft. Perhaps Butler moves to OG.
Defense: Switch to a 3-4 Defense
DL: Most of the small DT get cut or traded. Mario and Antonio, and we seem to have come across some good mid level DE's during mid season pick ups. We Draft a Planetoid DT, and make some FA pick ups of bigger guys.
LB: Cush moves outside naturally, and perhaps Barwin makes the switch, poor guy can't stay in one place! If Demeco gets healthy he stays inside. Sharpton moves inside with #59. Diles and Bentley back up the MLB's. We draft OLB, and make some FA moves.
CB: Jason Allen is the #1 or #2 depending on what we can find in FA. We heavily pursue a solid #1 CB in FA. KJ and GQ figh for the nickle spot.
S: Pollard stays as the SS, we go to a regular SS? FS situation as oppossed to our twin Safetys approach. We draft a top tier FS and this makes up some for Pollards coverage skills.
ST: Afters Racker performance last week he stays for sure, and new players transition to the coverage units.
Notable changes:
Steve Slaton-Cut
Andre Davis-Cut
Okoye-Traded (For what who knows)
Graham-Cut
Wilson-Cut
Misc./Wildcard:
Perhaps Kubiak will want some players from the squad when he lands in Denver in two weeks, perhaps he works with Rick and Houson North sends some of Denvers remanining draft picks for some of the guys we don't want. Perhaps we trade some guys straight up, like the DL, OL, and LB's for some of the same.
