Colts Radio Voice Trashes Peyton Off The Air

So just how uncomfortable are Colts fans becoming over the recent performances of quarterback Peyton Manning? The team’s in-house radio announcer — by definition an overt homer for the organization — trashed Manning during Sunday’s four-pick performance against the Cowboys while off the air but behind a microphone that was sufficiently hot to pick up his words.

Our friends at StampedeBlue.com explain the comments of Bob Lamey, who reportedly said that NFL defenses had “figured Manning out,” that he should be benched for Curtis Painter, and that the Colts should draft Manning’s replacement in 2011.

The comments surfaced via JMV of 1070 the Fan in Indy. According to the Indianapolis Star, Lamey apologized personally to Peyton on Tuesday, and Manning “appeared to accept.” (In other words, Peyton didn’t openly berate Lamey.) Per the Star, the Colts plan no disciplinary action.

Fine, but don’t be shocked if, after the season, the Colts decide to “go in a different direction.” Manning has leverage and a long memory. We think he won’t tolerate knowing that such comments were made by a team employee, and we believe he’ll insist that Lamey be relieved of his duties if the Colts truly want to sign Manning to a new deal.

A tad spoiled aren't we Colts fans?

Will be nice to see them all have seizures when the wheels finally come off and they're like the Colts of old again.

Yeah, Peyton has a lot to prove to him - then add in the fact he's playing without his TE and several other targets, as well as the team's #1 RB.

One guy is going down as a top 5 QB of alltime and the HOF in a heartbeat. The other guy? What's his name again?

Because Curtis Painter would do fantastic with no RB, no TE, and no WR other than Reggie Wayne.

I'm not apologizing to Indy.

Agreed. The dude's WR's aren't healthy, the oline's playing like crap and they have zilch for a running game. But hey, Manning could give up some of that cash he's getting ready to get in order to build around him a bit?

Let old worn out Peyton go... I've got no problems with that.

So, what kind of contract do we have to whip out to get him to sign? :)

I'll give you Clark being a loss but Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie were getting heaps of praise last year and Donald Brown is a 1st round RB (actually picked a few places higher than Addai).

It's always the skilled position players' fault when the Great Manning struggles, 'eh? :ok:

I don't buy it. The great QBs elevate the play around him. Manning is obviously one of the greats with his body of work, but the guy is human and is struggling right now. Just call it like it is instead of making excuses for the man.

As far as replacing him with Curtis Painter, what a freakin' joke. I'd be glad to trade a Schaub, Slaton, and OD for Manning if they are tired of him. Can you even begin to imagine a Manning/AJ connection? *drools*

I hate Peyton Manning with a passion, but respect him as a great QB of our time. All I will say. He's had a brutal season this year but that doesn't diminish the last 10 and change.

If he had won the SB last year he was cemented in 'greatest QB of alltime' chatter. I'm still glad he didn't win, just for that reason...

But Bob Lamey is out to lunch.

BTW Infantry, Collie and Garcon also spent time on the shelf, and Gonzalez and Clark are on IR. Blair White starts for them FFS. I'm not looking to make excuses for a QB I despise, but at some point having all of those guys in and out of the lineup screws things up for an offense and its QB. Look at what happened to Brady last season when Welker tore his ACL. Not saying the Ravens wouldn't have won anyways, but Brady lost his safety valve and that was huge.

No one's really mentioned the OL, but their pass protection has progressively shown some chinks in the armour........ultimately pretty much falling apart this last game.

Collie and Garcon have both been hurt htis year as well.

The OL was really bad last game I think peyton had like 1-2 seconds before people were on him, in one case the DT got a sack by driving the guard into Peyton so hard it knocked him off his feet..

It was not good.

Garcon's missed games were early in the season, and not while Peyton was having anywhere near the type of problems he's having now. Collie on the otherhand has missed 3 of the last 4 games, and it's looks to be very likely he'll also miss tonight.

I think the poor offensive line play is real and it's absolutely a contributing factor, but as opposed to the injuries - which are to some extent not controllable - the poor line play is due to poor play by what is mostly the projected starting lineup. Of the 5 starters as listed on their current depth chart, only Charlie Johnson has missed a game due to injury, and that was only one. The remaining four may not have started all 12 games, but they have been active for all 12 games, and all of them have started at least 8 games.

The OL has not been hurt, they just suck.. hence no running game either.. which is another burden..

The receivers have been hurt, not praticing as well and if you really look at the Colts system it's all based on the receiver and Peyton making the same read at the same time, when you have people coming in and out of the system it causes problems.

Then again Peyton is throwing some really bad throws too which doesn't help.
