I'm ready for "wish I had played the kid more". I'm tired of our team being so afraid of change that they refuse to give a guy a shot.

You'll have to wait the last two games of the season to see him play. He'll have two good games but in the draft, Smithiak with the 2nd pick in the draft goes WR. After the lockout ends and season starts, Dickerson will be our #2 WR and we'll wonder why we wasted a second rounder.
 
Kubiak doesnt like his Scorin Dorin nickname, so he benched him. Plus Dorin has no ties with Colorado.

Joel Dreesen-solid but not outstanding player
James Casey-highly athletic guy that never gets a shot.
Garret Graham-looks like OD, plays like OD....is sitting like OD.
Anthony Hill-for the time being, not broken. Give him 2 or 3 special teams plays, he'll be out in no time. If he stays healthy? **** 'em, we'll never play him especially after we draft another TE next year.

WR-

Jacoby Jones-while it's nice that he is making catches for punt returns, he couldn't catch a cold quarantined in a room full of people with pnuemonia.

preseason he got nicked up 2 weeks straight i believe.
 
Texans coach Gary Kubiak says he believes seventh-round pick Dorin Dickerson "has got the body and the tools to be a (number) one or two (receiver) in this league."

Kubiak has never made a mistake and will never make a mistake. He is waiting for the right time to showcase Dickerson's talent.
 
we are saving him for our 'secret weapon' to be unleashed in the playoffs so we can go all the way and WIN the Superbowl.

Don't you know Kubiak is way smarter than the rest of the NFL Head Coach's, especially when it comes to picking players and the time to showcase them.
 
Has been been playing in some special Teams Maybe they seen how he sucked there and decided to not advance him

Wasn't Dorin injured for a couple of weeks? Not that it matters, since Kubiak would not have played him anyway. Dorin Dickerson is the new Arian Foster.

WR is not the easiest position in the NFL. There are a couple positions where players come in and routinely make immediate impact, but WR isn't one of them.
 
He's never thrown a horrible-ass halfback pass, missed a kick he should have made, didn't go to Colorado State, no Broncos connection... Oh and his last name isn't Brown???????
 
The kid ( in Kubiak's voice ) reminds me a lot of Arian Foster last year . Big , strong , fast , good hands , we just can't find a place for him except at CB or safety .

Every year there are one or maybe two rookie WRs that come in and make an immediate impact. There are countless WRs that take two to three years to hit their stride. Most early round WRs seem to take a year or two to hit their stride. When you consider that the early round guys are going to get opportunities that guys like DD won't get right away (never mind the position shift), it's not too unusual.

People like to point to Marques Colston like he represents something other than what he really is - an anomaly. How many other 7th round WRs come in as a rookie and do what he did? Without looking it up, I'm going to step out on a limb and say zero. Rod smith had 22 receptions his first two years. Was Jimmy Smith a late round pick? I forget, but he also had 22 catches his first couple years.

Here are some recent examples of early round WRs:

Steve Smith CAR had 10 catches his rookie season and 54 his second year.
Ochocinco had 28 catches his rookie year.
TJ Houshmandzadeh had 21 catches his rookie year.
Reggie Wayne had 27 catches his rookie year.
Roddy White had 29 catches his rookie year and 30 his second.
Vincent Jackson played in 7 games as a rookie and had 3 total catches. He followed that up with 27 catches his 2nd year.
Brandon Marshall had 20 catches his rookie year.
Sidney Rice had 31 and 15 catches his first two years.
Steve Smith NYG had 8 catches his rookie year.

Just for kicks, peruse this list and take a look at how many WRs just flat haven't made it in the NFL or have made very minimal impact. Honestly, after going through the list, Jacoby Jones even looks good. For contrast, take a look at the RB list. On defense, LBs pretty routinely make an immediate impact.

WRs just take a while.
 
Probably because Kubiak would rather explain all of his bad decisions at the end of the season than run the risk of making one in the middle of it. This isn't very logical, but neither is most of what Kubes and Co. does/doesn't do.
 
Because Kubiak hasnt decided if he wants him to be the 10th string TE or 7th string WR. Kubiak also stated that we are weak at the TE position and need to draft 3 more in this years draft.

How many got a chance? I pointed to him because he represents exactly what you are saying doesn't happen. He blew up and DD has similar attributes/situation so that's obviously the first name that comes to mind.

I'd be happy if they just acted like he was on this team. Really and truly, if his size/speed combo isn't enough to beat out DA...and his hands aren't enough to beat out JJ...then he needs to be cut so we can get somebody in who is a viable option.

I agree with this and a couple of similar posts, that he has too much talent in front of him to get any play yet. That said, it wouldn't have hurt my feelings to see him get a shot or two during the season and have JJ or DA sit, just to give the kid some real time and see how he responded.

that's cool and all but we aren't asking him to start. hell even be the 3rd receiver. We would just like to seem him once or twice.

I don't disagree with any of that, and I'd like to see DD get a shot as well. I was just refuting the notion that WR is the easiest position. Judging by past results, it's clearly not.
 
I think it's pretty clear that RB is the easiest position to play, at least until your body breaks down. Other than that and maybe LB I'd definitely put receiver up there.

Btw this thread upsets me every time I see it. I can't believe we haven't been playing this guy instead of what we have.

I don't even think there has been one this season. Every freaking pass play is a long-developing, down-the-field play.

Your right. I don't recall a quick hitting slant in quite a while.
 
You don't remember the quick slants because they aren't sexy and result in 60 yd TD's regularly. We have run a number of slants this year. We can argue (uselessly) about what percentage but they have definitely been run.

Slant routes are usually just short, high percentage passes that happens to be quite effective against man coverage. Like you said, slant routes don't result in TD's regularly.

...unless you're Santonio Holmes playing against the Texans' defense.

the braintrust thought it was eric dickerson's son and were disappointed when he showed up for mini camp and told them he wasn't.

We've thrown them enough this year. However I recall a preseason game where he basically helped us lose that game because he couldn't haul in 3rd and 5 catches from John David Booty. He was consistently letting the ball hit his body and not catching with his hands.

Add his injury and alot of valuable time will be missed on the field on Sundays.
