Broncos fire head coach Josh McDaniels

Noooo, wish they would have held onto him for another season. Oh well, thanks Josh for helping out the Raiders in your short time in Denver...you will be missed. :cry2:

Talk about epically ruining a franchise. Traded their best players away and got nothing. Now the next coach gets to pleasure of figuring out what the heck to do with Tebow.

Damn, it was probably that Quinn Hillis trade that did it, or the Spygate deal. Or maybe trading Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler.

That's a good point.

McDaniels seemed to be the only one in the NFL that was willing to take him that high...

Josh McDaniels is an epic failure. I bet he's really good at Madden though.

McDaniels traded Jay Cutler for Kyle Orton and a couple of draft picks. Doesn't sound bad, right? Well, he used one of his first rounders to trade up in order to draft Alphonso Smith, who was traded to Detroit for their current tight end, Dan Gronkowski. Tim Tebow has as much playing time as Steve Slaton right now.

He then traded a sixth round draft pick, a conditional pick in 2012, and Peyton Hillis, an all-pro RB, for Brady Quinn, who is currently a third string QB.

He also traded away Tony Scheffler, a great pass-catching TE that is comparable to Owen Daniels a couple years ago.

I could go on...

Man, that Spread Offense is awesome in the NFL ain't it Josh? (without Brady anyhow). Totally worth blowing your team up for.

I can't say I'm surprised after all the Broncos are 3-9 after going 8-8 the season before, although two seasons is not enough time to evaluate his performance IMO. Given the scandals and all, it was probably time to let him go.

Makes me wonder why we're holding on to Gary Kubiak after his back to back 8-8 performances.

Leading candidate to replace him for the talking heads - Gary Kubiak.

I didn't follow them but ..
wow after starting out 6-2 ..they are now 5-17

I know a lot of you jest, but I can see it happening.

A first round pick and Kubiak is rebuilding in Co.

And Denver needs a first round pick.

So the Broncos are going to have to pay 3 head coaches next year when there might not be any football; I wish I was a millionaire.

Most everything I am reading on their boards the fans want a defnsive head coach. They are talking about Cowher and Leslie Frazier a lot over there.

Sources close to the Broncos told NFL Network's Michael Lombardi that the team is expected to approach former Broncos Super Bowl hero John Elway for a front office position and that if Gary Kubiak were available, then he would be the team's first choice to coach the team next season.

Kubiak, currently the coach of the Houston Texans was formerly the Broncos' offensive coordinator for 11 seasons under Mike Shanahan

/\ do it. Do it.

It's like the perfect storm. Kubiak can go play in the hills and rebuild Denver to mediocrity. Elway for front office? Man, it'd be like the good ol days. Wouldn't that be fun for the kids, coach?

It was a move that was a long time coming for team owner Patrick Bowlen, but he's going to pay for the impetuous decision to hire McDaniels before the 2009 season. Whenever the Broncos hire their next head coach, they'll be paying three guys -- former head coach Mike Shanahan, McDaniels and whoever replaces McDaniels -- to coach the team in 2011 ... and they'll owe money to McDaniels and replacement in 2012 as well. When Bowlen fired Shanahan after the 2008 season, he still owed him $21 million on the three years remaining in Shanahan's contract, and McDaniels is owed nearly $7 million on his remaining two years.

I suspect that McDaniels tried to pull the wool over Pat Bolwlen's eyes and was found out to be much more involved in the spy gate thing and Bowlen chucked him to the curb for incompetency and lying to him.

My dad lives over there. They still love them some Kubiak.

Most Denver fans think that his departure is the reason why the Broncos went south so quick. MB fans are an altogether different animal than the average fans, though.

Eric Studesville named Broncos’ interim coach

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/06/eric-studesville-will-be-broncos-interim-coach/

Eric Studesville will take over as head coach of the Denver Broncos for the rest of the season after today’s firing of Josh McDaniels.

Studesville is in his first year as the Broncos’ running backs coach. Now he’ll serve as interim head coach for the final four games of 2010.

“I am very appreciative of the trust that Mr. Bowlen and the entire Denver Broncos organization have shown in me,” Studesville said in a statement. “Although the circumstances that this opportunity resulted from are unfortunate, I am excited to lead this football team. We have a great group of players and coaches who are committed to finishing the season on a promising note and making our fans proud of this team.”

Prior to arriving in Denver this year, Studesville spent six seasons coaching the running backs in Buffalo and three years coaching the running backs with the Giants.

Studesville has also served as a quality control coach with the Bears and been an assistant at several colleges. This is his first head-coaching position.

People in the NFL sure cant seem to keep their word, or tell the truth.

Mere days after making a statement that McDaniels job was safe for 2011, he fires the dude? Par for the course actually.

Josh McDaniels....now there's a coach who's had REAL transgressions. ****in' worthless guy. Should have never been hired to begin with. See ya, McHoody.

This is why, when everyone was panicking at Bob McNair's endorsement of Kubiak a few weeks back, I was laughing. Endorsements mean nothing. Even Jerry Jones admitted that he was in denial about Wade.

I read on the ESPN crawl that the Broncos owner said McDainels could come back next season. WTF is that all about. Does that mean back to the Broncos or to coaching in general?

There is no way in hell that guy will be a head coach next year. I think they meant in any coaching capacity.
